My Disney hot take (that belongs here), is that lands and rides don't have to be on a timeline/part of the cinematic universe. I think the MCU has broken some people's brains that everything has to be a unified story. Star wars land doesn't have to just be in a specific time. Any MCU attractions don't have to be able to fit into the MCU or timeline.
@roccobotte5 ай бұрын
Not a hot take to me. I think there’s way too much focus on “story” in theme parks in general.
@stephenr21975 ай бұрын
@@roccobotte I think some people have mistaken the art of storytelling for just having a story. Pirates- incredible storytelling that is subtle and let's the audience create their own framework. Not a hint of a "story"

I was really bummed I went to galaxy’s edge this past Jan for the first time (and maybe for years) and the cantina was like booked for some private event but no one ever told anyone? And when I showed up for my reserved slot that I booked in the app to get in they told me basically “go away this whole place has been rented out for a private event”

Kind of shocked they didn’t like block out those time slots in the app. Or even have a sign up people could’ve seen earlier in the day. I wanted to go in there so bad and I still have avoided images and videos of what it looks like in there. So maybe one day haha

I recently built a droid and they did add a third option, which I went with. It's called a "C-Series" astrodroid I believe and it's like a shorter chunkier R unit. I had a blast building the droid and it's really fun to control like an RC car, however my one gripe would be that it's pretty hard to mix and match different parts to really make a droid look custom. The color schemes of each are pretty different and in my opinion if you try to mix and match from different color sets it just looks really disconnected.

The whole critiquing the thing you love conversation is exactly how I feel about Shenmue. The first one is probably my favorite game of all time and the second one is of course a great continuation, but when three came out, it was clear that it was a steaming pile of shit. Whenever I say that though, you have those insane fans who are unwilling to accept reality that Shenmue 3 was pure trash. Just because you love something, that doesn't mean you can't point out it's flaws.
@BogusMeatFactory5 ай бұрын
Oh most definitely. While I love them continuing the story of Shenmue and there IS some good things it does that feel great, there is a lot of rough and awkward patches that definitely boiled down to poor design issues. I wouldn't say 3 is a pile of shit necessarily but... its rough. Still waiting for someone to leak the old Shenmue MMO code though, cause that seems like madness.

Watching the recent summer game fest stuff for the new star wars outlaws game got me thinking it would be really cool if they added Batuu as a playable area in game that incorporated more of the fantastical elements like droids and aliens walking around that they aren't doing in the real park.

Issues, the name. Should be "star wars land" no one calls it galaxy's edge, batuu or, black spire outpost. Drop the land being "Canon" land feels like it just wants to ignore anything pre Disney star wars. Should have had more interactive things around the park, like using Wands in Harry potter land to make things move. Scanning qr codes isn't fun. Compare the land to what Harry potter land and super Nintendo land is doing, and it's easy to see the cost savings Disney is taking.

Idk Galaxy's Edge really does suck. After the first visit the only point of going there is for Rise and even that gets old after a few rides. Plenty of rides stay fun for a lifetime but not these two. What's hilarious is that Star Tours is better and has better longevity than either ride and it's not even there. And if you aren't spending hundreds on star wars toys then all there is to do is 2 alright rides. Not to mention star wars even being there leaves a bad capitalist taste in your mouth, even for disneyland.
