2x zoom should never be used on the P6P for portrait mode and is an unfair comparison. It is essentially 3x on the main lens due to the inital 1.5x crop. 1x looks miles better.

Really impressive with portrait mode on S22, for the video recording I prefer color on S22 look much natural than P6P but for stabilization when you run looks like P6P much better, I saw comparison between S22 exynos & snapdragon variant before for video recording its look like snapdragon have better stabilization than exynos, hopefully Samsung will tix this or at least improve the stabilization on exynos variant on the next update

yes. the pixel actually has much better dynamic range, but I bit too much warmth in the highs. if you're editing videos in premiere or other editor, this is easy to grade and dial back. once you do this the colour profile is similar. if you grade the samsung footage and bring up the shadows a notch, they end up looking very similar. other thing to note is if you use the MWP modded camera app, you can bump the bitrate to nearly double, which also makes a significant difference. with the samsung there is no option to do this.

I don’t understand why everyone here says that in portrait mode it’s better to S22, all the details are absolutely lost there. This is also perfectly visible on the clothes - the pixel has a lot of details compared to S22. The perfect effect of blurring on s22 or excessive sharpening on Pixel is not so important if most of the details disappear on the face.

02:22 is a perfect illustration of why I don't like Samsung image processing, ever since the Galaxy S7. It's like they have a "beautify" mode that you simply cannot turn off. The lady's skin details and texture are completely GONE! This looks way too "photoshopped" to me. I mostly shoot my kids, and definitely don't like them looking like they're out of a make up session! Sticking to my Pixel 3 for now. (still a decent phone if you don't need to make calls).

Somehow I thought Pixel 6 has the best pictures especially wit the main lens but thanks to your review it's easier to make final decision as Samsung made really great job with S22 series. @@RedskullPro I returned the S22 and kept my Pixel 6. The P6 is superior in pretty much every scenario imo. The shutter lag on the S22 really makes the phone unusable, kids and pets end up blurry with just a little movement. I also noticed a lot of high light clipping on the S22. Video on the S22 is inferior to the P6 as well, stablization is weaker as is dynamic range. There is also more noise in low light. Battery life on the S22 is mediocre as well, I got around 4 SOT, P6 got me around 5 1/2 SOT. $599 the P6 has no competition imo. Nice video I was excited but then I used the S22, maybe next time Samsung

You cant see much difference at 5x zoom? Buddy, are you even looking? S22 has 3x optical, Pixel 6 pro has 4x. So, the 5x images look way more smudgy on S22 in your own samples, it's not even close.

You know the best part of this?? Google ain't really using the full potential of the new sensors yet, all these little errors you get in portrait for instance, are not that common on the pixel 5, because the software truly uses the most out of those 12mp sensors, just wait for google to keep training the algorithm with the new sensors, it could be a whole new level like the pixel 3 was over the competition when it was released.

For me personally, i think the Pixel have better colors ( true to life ) , bettter dynamic range ( better details in the dark areas in the pixel pictures ), And better stabilisation ( really impressive ). The S22 in the other hand has better night mode, better portrait mode, sharper pictures and overall a better package. Just wish Samsung went a bit lighter with the contrast in general, videos and photos seem a bit too saturated ( tho sharper and better quality than the pixel photos) which results in crushed blacks and sometimes over brightened areas... it would've been the PERFECT camera if it had the pixel colors and hdr.... None of these phone cameras is perfect, but it seems that the S22 is the more complete and overall better one .

If you're talking about pictures then yes, the Pixel looks more natural. Colors in video on the other hand look pretty bad on the Pixel I think. Way too warm and saturated, not natural at all compared to Samsung. S22 does have a bit too much contrast, I agree.

Samsung made a good job for sure. Portrait are so good. But for night mode i took better and sharp pictures with my pixel 6 pro. I love each brand but for now i have to deal with the pixel 6 pro and happy with it. And for the price it's a good deal 😁😁😁 nice review Alex 👍👍👍

The main and ultra wide sensors are much bigger on the pixel 6 pro. And it also took much longer for exposure. Yet S22 has better results. It seems samsung has stepped up its image processing quite a lot. Nice video as always 👍

This is a really good and honest comparison. Google really need to improve their camera app alot. The processing is terrible. Coming from a Redmi Note 10 which actually made alot better pictures in every single condition except zoom since its digital.

Feel sorry for Google. Suggest that using Samsung main sensor wasn't good idea as well as that Tensor chip (which is likely some rejected and rebranded Exynos chip after all ;)). Finally departure of leading engineer who was responsible for camera development in previous models took its toll too.
