I understand what you are saying, but being Pixel fan and even using one right now, it's hard not to accept the fact the iPhones blur better. The Lidar option they have is blowing out the Pixels in almost all of the pictures. Other than the obvious new Pixel skin tone focus, the iPhone wins in the camera unfortunately.

....they used the cameras wrong, unfortunately. If they used the tele lens, the amount of zoom should be different. In the tele pic of the woods, it's obvious that both were zoomed in 3x, so the Pixel was digitally cropped in. But even then, it wasn't focused correctly. The second tele shot (in the street) is more like what you should expect at 3x for the Pixel. Not surprising considering you had your wives do it, just disappointed that it was messed up like that. Should have done one at 3x and one at 4x, if that's the case. ......just realized you guys have less than 3k subs. Well done on the production, but former photographer, he said? Y'all are gonna have a great YT career! Also, imagine if the Pixel got some software updates that fixed the 3 horrible pics, and if they used the 4x zoom.... 😎😎😎 Also. Next time. Have them crop the ultrawides and front cameras to the same focal length and the same with the tele lenses (or do both like I said before). Just to help stop that internal bias. Lol

Dislike. Also their ladies suck at taking pics.

I mean both of you just picked what you "thought" was your phone's image most of the time. Especially the guy for iPhone. Even admitted as much. Something along the lines of "I went for that one because I thought it was the iPhone image based on the white balance" rather than saying you like it more or less. Bit pointless if you're just trying to determine and pick YOUR phone instead of the best photo...
@brachiator12 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed this blind test. Both cameras did well. I am glad that you included a skin tone test. I figure that more photos are taken of people than landscapes, and getting skin tone right might matter to a lot of people.

It's huge for me because i do a fair bit of portrait painting. It's not really the overly warm and inaccurate skin tone that was getting me with the portrait photos on the iphone though, it was the softening of features. I liked nearly every other photo shot on the iphone a fair bit more than the pixel in this list too, which is something i wasn't expecting.

On the telephoto shots you had both zoomed to the same extent. The iPhone is 3x, the Pixel is 4x. If you shot under 3x, both are using digital zoom. From 3x up until 4x, I would take the iPhone will have a built-in advantage because it is using its telephoto lens and the pixel is stuck with a digital zoom. From 4x, the Pixel gains advantage as it is getting closer before it has to digitally enhance. As this is still a relatively new implementation for google, it's likely that their performance will be much improved within a couple of months. It would be interesting, if they do roll out software updates addressing the camera, to see an update to this at that point.

That's the same thing. I was wondering at the 12 minute mark they said the white balance on the iPhone as far as a selfie was better and it looked better overall and I'm thinking to myself it doesn't even look true to life. Are they just judging the photos off of what they personally like? Or are they judging photos based off of what looks true to life? Because if you wanted to on the pixel, you can adjust the exposure to make the photo look brighter on the selfie, but it would not look true to life. iPhones generally have a slightly warmer color to their photos when it comes to selfies

As someone who has spent most of their working life as a professional photographer, I can confidently say that while you can technically soften an over-sharpened image, you can never get it back to its original state with its original, base amount of detail. You lose data by over-sharpening and you can’t get that data back if the sharpening was baked into the final output. Would be nice though! - Ryan

From everything I've seen, the Pixel camera swings big. When it hits, it SLAYS. But when it misses, it misses big. Does seem to hit more than it misses, though.

It definitely seems like Google can do more to improve the camera. There were definitely some mistakes in this comparison (I'm sure their wives are likely more used to using an iPhone) but Google 100% messed up with the portrait mode. The 2x is just digital crop and the sharpening is far too aggressive. They really need to have the 4x optical as an option and more Pro features. I'm also surprised that despite the sensor being so much bigger than previous Pixels, capture times are roughly the same when they should be much quicker which I think is leading to a lot of camera shake.

Kind of annoyed me that they kept picking the iPhone for photos of people when it clearly has more blur, jacked up white balance, and less realistic skin colours. I get you want to "look good" but the photo should be about capturing the scene, otherwise just put Vaseline on your lens.
@harrypike51402 жыл бұрын
Depends what people want their phone camera for tbh. Alot of iPhone users' primary purpose for the camera is selfies, videos of themselves, and looking as attractive as possible. Take your average 21 year old girl who is an iPhone user, as an example. Maybe she never takes night-shots, has no interest in the zoom capabilities of Pixel, and has no desire to take landscape shots. She just wants to take pretty selfies where she looks better than IRL. Sure, the IPhone smoothens out some of her facial flaws, but that's exactly what she wants for her Insta upload. There are a significant portion of iPhone customers who fill that sort of bracket.
@neilr79352 жыл бұрын
The Pixel is doing more than simply capturing the scene. It is applying massive amounts of sharpening to each image, which is the absolute last thing you want for a flattering portrait. It also boosts shadows unnaturally (except on faces where you'd actually want to lighten shadows). I've ordered the Pixel 6 for the price and OS, but I have to admit the iPhone's photos out of the box tend to look better (shooting RAW and doing post-processing is a different story of course).

8:50 in this photo the pixel did not make the jump to the telephoto lens and the person who captured the photo did not realize that it was left in digital zoom that is why the photo came out with that result, I have tried both phones and in telephoto the pixel is superior to the iphone 9:20 and here again the person who captured the photo makes the same mistake again, he put both mobiles at 3x which for the iphone is already optical and for the pixel the digital one since the optical sensor of the pixel starts at 4x I think that before making comparisons they should know how to use the mobile camera or change the person who does the work because they clearly do not know the specifications

You pay less because Google wants your data as that’s where they make 99% of their money. I’m not paying $600 to have Google track me and sell me ads on every website I go to. With Apple being more focused on privacy now I turned of Google search because Google literally track me on every damn website I went to even when not using Google search, it’s ridiculous on how many trackers Google has. Also that $600 phone only gets you three years of updates which means it’s trade in value will be terrible. Sure iPhones cost more but after several years they still have a high trade in value which no other smartphone can match.

Sooo, basically it comes down to your OS preference and the price. Got it. I'm ordering a Pixel 6. Thanks.

I've had the pixel 6 since November 5th and absolutely no lag on my phone. Thank you very much. Oh and by the way, I'm using voice to text with dictating punctuations.

Why is it so hard for people to understand, that it's all objective and they should go with what they feel is better.
@karthik36852 жыл бұрын
This is slightly dumb. The ultrawide (0.5x vs 0.7x) and 4x vs 3x are fairly obvious. If doing blind tests on those, you need to 'control' for that in some way. (either a crop, or change the field of view of one of them by moving closer or farther.) Also, on a lot of images, the oversaturated look of the iPhone is not realistic. We have just looked at oversaturated images so long, we have deluded ouselves into thinking that's how things look. The shadows/highlights detail in Pixel 6 is also outstanding. If you don't like defaults, maybe they should give us a setting of locking those values down, instead of just using sliders on every photo. On portraits, the iphone's lidar definitely comes in handy, and is hard to beat. Overall, it's very close, and hard to call one way or the other.

Thanks for the feedback! Fully agreed about controlling the comparisons a little more for the next version.

As an iPhone user now after leaving the Pixel 4XL. I found this odd. As I’ve never had blurred issue with the XL I had. But, I accept this review as it is. Just felt a bit odd. Especially after havin an iPhone for over a year and taking tons of videos and photos.

Any chance you will do S21 Ultra videos? Great video btw. Pixel can compete!

3:30 in and I found the flaw in this comparison. You should have judged all of the photos, before finding out which ones were from which camera. Subliminally, you can start to figure out which camera is taking which shot, in each side by side.

Agreed, after a couple samples they basically knew which was which.

It seems like Google wants the pixel to take photos that would look like those taken on actual camera. Less highlights, higher dynamic range, sharp, lower contrast.

I wonder what difference it made that they were viewing the images on an Apple screen 🤔

You should've done the reveal at the very end, not every after category. What you did may allow you to perceive a pattern how the phone processes images and in turn may present bias.

I feel like the big big advantage in the pixel 6 pro is that literally this phone just came out so to be this close to an iphone and in some cases better. The pixel will have pictures and camera updates like ik this portrait difficulty that the pixel is having is gone to be fixed and then will see who has better portrait. For example i have the pixel 5 5G yes not the best but my point is like in the last 2 or 3 months i had like 3 camera updates which just mean every update is going to get better.

From my personal experience it won't make a huge difference.

I thought this was really well done. Nice work. As a new Pixel 6 Pro owner, I actually prefer most of the pics coming from the iPhone. It's nothing that can't be tweaked, but I find the iPhone processing to be much more flattering for portraits. The skin tones are warmer (which some interpret as yellow), the skin blemishes are smoother, and ultimately nice portraits should be less sharp than say cityscape or macro shots. Pixel wins in zoom, and that can result in some cool shots. Video goes to iPhone, as pretty much every reviewer has determined. I also am not a huge fan of the over processed HDR look. Some areas of a photo are allowed to be dark, and Pixel tries to change that in an unnatural way. With all that said, I've gotten some stunner shots from my P6P and Android is so much better for my daily use...

Interestingly after watching a few shoot out review videos, I can already tell which photo is from which phone. It seems that iphone generally will have higher color saturation, sky tends to be more blue, and higher contrast with some lost of details in the shadow. iphone is also a bit better for hand held night photo, while pixel has more natural coloring, better skin color accuracy, and better at night if you can minimalize your hand shake due to longer exposure. For me, both phones take good enough photo, eventually picking the pixel cos I had a harder time get used to the iOS system.

Yeah bro I wanted to point out the same thing . I knew which phone clicked which as soon as they were presented except for one. Pixel camera language is so obvious while iPhone is also more obvious. If I was the iPhone fanboy here I would know which pictures were clicked by iPhone and vote for it first. After seeing a couple comparisons the pixel camera seems pretty clear as it's producing natural true to life , while iphone is slightly adding color to make the pictures pop. I didn't expect the pixel to fuck it up in that portrait though that was very poor ,with pixels at sides and poor edge detection. I liked the iPhone better overall and If you liked the pixel good for you , we have our opinions. It's actually quite easy to guess the phone in this comparision tho
