Just followed this video to do this on my S3. Worked great! Bought the LOCA from your Ebay store, and used the specified 1.3ml. The only problem i had was that when i was putting the glass on, i started pushing the glass on from the bottom first, and some of the LOCA got into the front facing camera, and now it's blurry. So next time, and for all of you others doing this, once you lower the glass onto the screen, start pushing downwards from the top first. Other than that - Thanks heaps!!

I can't believe I've watched this video 4 times and just noticed he switched phones. The first one was At&t and the last one was T-Mobile. For anyone who wants to try this. If you are using LOCA. Take apart the phone and remove the motherboard. Apply LOCA and cure with UV light for about 5-8 mins. Clean any excess LOCA off the sides and whatever LOCA that seeped to the back and/or in the camera lens, proximity sensores and buttons. Reattach the motherboard and all other parts. It seems as if the LOCA he applied in the first AT&T variant S3 damaged some resistors since he didn't take everything out. So he switch phones hoping no one would notice.

The melting temperature of our Octopus Glue is almost same to the original phone manufacturer's OCA. There should not be any significant difference in removing the glue. You are right that hardness and viscosity are key factors to determine how easy to rework and how easy to remove air bubbles.

Great video octopusglue. Do you have a step by step guide? Does the screen need to be at a certain temperature? Also, do I need to use the flashlight like you did? What was the purpose of doing that. I cracked my s4 screen and am looking for a good way to replace it. Thanks for the great work. Also, where did you get the 3m tape jig?

How come you switched switched phones at 6:50? That is unless the adhesive remover turned the home button white. And if that's the case, did the adhesive remover also turn it from an at&t phone to t-mobile? I'm confused. Please advise.

LOL example of an amateur repair technician Right Here! The LCD has to be removed from the frame and put in to a mold. With this repair setup the Glass will pull away from the LCD. This phone is going to smell like a damn nail salon and will be leaking loco glue for ages.

***** Hi, I can remove the LCD from the frame, as can other technicians. It takes me about 20 mins cause I'm super careful, but I've seen others on KZbin do it in 5 min. There's one guy who does it in 2 minutes, not sure if original adhesive. You can buy oem LCD adhesive too.

rodolfo rodriguez why are you saying "there's no way to pry the LCD without breaking it", when I just told you that I can do it. :-/

Its still not worth it. The adhesive on the rear of the Active Matrix OLED display is designed to adhere the display to the body, but the adhesive mat in the middle reacts as an heat sink for the SoC ARM micro-processor where its heat is conducted with an thermal pad. By removing the display, the heat dissipation feature no longer works and this can cause thermal stress on the circuit board causing BGA connections to crack and that requires an high skilled solder job. Also, the mid adhesive bad is here to precent the screen from cracking from thermal stresses, keep in mind that an Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode display (AMOLED) has 2 layers of glass (vertical matrix and horizontal matrix) a polarization layer to filter out unnecessary wavelengths and a light reflector for not losing light and since a OLED screen is officially transparent, there must be an shielding of some kind to prevent it to look transparent because you don't wanna see the frame cut outs ect.

doesn't the loca glue get into the back light at all? I haven't tried using loca glue yet with the galaxy but when i attempted the iphone glass repair the loca glue got in between the back light and lcd and i don't want to do repairs with the loca if it is going to get in between the back light and lcd. how do you prevent that?
@lorenzovanhethul13559 жыл бұрын
The iPhone has an LCD display, which stands for Liquid Crystal Display. An iPhone needs backlit to lid up those pixels and the polarization layer filters out the unnecessary wavelengths. Most Samsung Galaxy phones including the s3 uses Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode screens. It stands for AMOLED or Active Matrix OLED. Each sub-pixel in an (AM) OLED display emits its own light. There is no need for an backlight at all. LOCA can't get in between anything on the AMOLED display except its circuitry, but this is unlikely when performed the right way. So no, LOCA can't get in between it since This phone uses an LED sub-pixel based display.
