1:56 I would add that you have to remove the glass AND the LCD (in general adressing every component by its name) and that they should stick together. Otherwise, you can easily separate the glass from the display, however, your display will absolutely break while dismanteling. Your glass functions as stabiliziser. In my case, the glass was broken and I had to replace it anyway. It didn't bother me to break it further, however, I now broke my lcd too, had to buy it too, ... and so on. The rest of the replacement was easy. Another tip would be to show the warming process (in muted), too, to give an idea for the ideal warmth areas (especially regarding the adhesive in the middle, which is a bummer!) and to light / better show some processes. (f.ex. 4:40) I would like to thank you for your video!

@ Brandon Martinez because the way they positioned it it's between the front and back so you need to take everything apart from the front to get to it... It's a stupid design in my opinion...

Thank you for the video. I used toothpicks instead of guitar picks, and damaged a bit of paint under the glass. With patience and a bit of cosmetic damage the new jack is working great! Really any disassembly video would work, but yours is the best of the few I watched.

Thanks a lot for this video, I think I will only attempt this fix when the S6 is released, so if I really screw it up, I'll have an excuse to get a new one... but right now it looks way more complicated than I had hoped. Out of interest, what's wrong with your audio jack? Mine is crackling every now and then, I thought it was the headphones at first, but testing with a few other sets I had shows that it was the jack.
@SmartEasyDIYer10 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's quite a bit more complicated than I had hoped. Since they went to the waterproof thing with this model they had to really change stuff around. Mine actually was ok yet at the time of this video. I did this in hopes of helping others needing to do this process. Thanks.
@Rich__L5 жыл бұрын
Just watched this and was dreading having to do this myself. Gone are the days of easy disassembly like the Galaxy S2. I used the flashlight on the previously mentioned S2 and realized the only problem with my headphone port was a tiny rock nestled in the very bottom preventing the jack from seating. Straight pin was all I needed thankfully. If you have a similar problem, inspect the jack carefully before having to tear the phone apart.

+Smart Easy DIY @Smart Easy DIY If you used the hair dryer to melt the adhesive on the screen in order to pry it up, how did you re-adhere the screen? Did you not apply any kind of adhesive in the rebuild? If I were to reapply adhesive, do you know what type of adhesive needs to be used?

this video was super helpful. my headphone would randomly disconnect and reconnect and then stopped working completely so I figured the jack was faulty. watched this till I saw how it connects and then squeezed the phone just above the connector and it fixed instantly... hope it stays functional for a while

Holy crap very glad I read this comment. Tried the same thing (squeezing as hard as I could on and around the jack and connection). My phone has been disconnecting from my music as the tiniest slightest movement which is incredibly annoying. After doing this it seems to have been fixed.

I tried squeezing the phone too and it has fixed my headphone connection problem. Thanks for the video - the repair looks hazardous for an undamaged screen.

This is a good video, but a couple points that aren't mentioned... 1) The screws on my phone we too tight and stripped when I tried to take them out. Had to pull out my dremel to cut some new groves after other methods failed. But that was fun. 2) The glass and lcd screen is very, very fragile. Super easy to break. Be prepared to replace both if you try this. And that's not a cheap fix. :( Sigh. I failed.

A few warnings: 1. Be careful not to go too far into the case when removing the screen, especially at the bottom, as you could damage the connectors for the "back" and "menu" keys (like i did). 2. Be careful not to apply too much heat at once as the glass part of the screen could crack (like mine did, but the touchscreen still works). BUT: I successfully managed to replace the audio jack, the damages are minor (you can barely see the cracks once the screen is turned on and the navigational keys are not that important) and it only cost me 5$ :)

My camera often gets stuck (used--think there's some dirt in there) when trying to move to focus the lens. I tap it occasionally, to free it up. Not violently, just enough. Noticing the contact for the ribbon connector on the camera, where it attaches to the PCB of the main board, I think I may have tapped it loose. When I plug in headphones I hear a beep every second, feedback, definitely not generated by the device. The device doesn't recognize I've plugged anything in. I think I just need to reconnect this ribbon connector, but as you guys do phone repair, I thought I should ask your opinion first. I'm highly experienced with this sort of thing, I build computers, do PC repair, bla bla bla. Does that sound plausible/likely? Thanks guys. Great video by the way.

Before you replace the audio jack, try the following: 1. Take a wire, insert it into the audio jack, the phone upside down, and spin it 2. Hit the phone slightly upside down on a wooden table 3. Be astonished how much dust and dirt comes out 4. Repeat Step 1 and 2 several times 5. Take a Q-Tip, pull and spin the cotton to bring it into a longer and thinner shape 6. Dip the Q-Tip into ethyl alcohol (disinfectant spray is also working), insert it into the audio jack and spin it 7. Repeat Step 5 and 6 several times 8. Be happy that your audio jack is working like a new one without replacing it :))

Wow I am irritated and feel scammed. I have owned nothing but 3 S3s and now my S5. I had 3 S3s all due to bad audio ports... Once on my 3rd S3 I found out how easy it was to replace the headphone jack, so I just fixed it myself. I appreciate the video, but I honestly don't trust myself for that repair. I feel like Samsung is putting really crappy audio ports in these phones... what are the chances I would continue to have issues? By the way, once I replaced my own audio port (instead of getting a new phone), I never had an issue with it afterwards. All I do is listen to music on my way to work... not like I'm sitting here putting hairs and debris in it. -_-
