But, just in case you should ever need to, today we're going to show you how to replace the battery in your Galaxy S7.

Pretty good video. Hardest part was getting the back off. If you are careful, you can save much of the water-proofing adhesive on the back. A couple suggestions. With phones, computers, cars, anything, they are highly, precisely engineered. If a piece doesn't fit easily, remove it and try again. Do not force a part! The part should fit in easily. When putting screws back in, turn them counterclockwise. They will click into place. You can feel this happen, and often hear it. Then you can turn the screw clockwise to tighten. This will keep you from cross-threading the screw. When you put the three cover parts back on, there are a few more steps than they show. Put the largest piece in first, but don't screw in tightly. That piece needs to interweave with the bottom part. On the left side, one tab on the bottom piece has to go under the larger piece, while one tab must go over the larger piece. On the bottom piece, these is a tab at the bottom that can be snapped into place by pushing on it. On the top piece, the top edge of the middle piece must go under the top piece. Also, I believe a tab on the top part has to go under the frame of the phone. Tighten the screws slightly as you put them in. Then tighten them at various opposite places, like putting a tire on your car. This will avoid one side being tighter than the other or stress put on one side.

Once a device it's opened the waterproofing is essentially gone. As for putting it back together just undo everything in order from last to first.

Put the components back into the phone and heat up the faceplate with the same heating technique and run your finger along the edges while applying the heat once finished i reccomend adding a light ammount of silicone and smearing it along the seam

Be careful when separating the battery from the phone: it is glued in place. It is possible to damage the display: do not use a screwdriver: use the guitar pick

I used this vid to change my s7 battery. It gives all the info you need. Installation is the reverse of removal. I did it with a hairdryer (6 mins highest power and heat setting, 2 inches away from phone) and a suction cup from a shower tray and used a guitar pick to prize the back cover off. I replaced with an upgrade 3600ma battery. Be careful the colour film on the back plastic cover peeled off on mine so it's clear now! You don't need to remove the section under the battery either, just the middle and top peice.

I just done mine. My heart was in my mouth lol. Thanks to your helpful video i managed it. The suction cup didnt work i had to use a sharpie to get started on the back panel. The hardest part for me was removing the battery it was very well glued in. The pick I had actually broke trying to prise the battery out. Also trying to reconnect the battery plug was difficult also. But all done thanks again

My wife's S7 Edge was swollen and the back was already partially open, on removing the back the originally battery dated 2017.02.18 was extremely swollen and about ready to exploded, it had broken the phone case I had bought for her to protect it from shock from the inside out and the actual S7 edge back case back adhesive and seal too. I think Samsung should be recalling these batteries before their is another fire on an aircraft or worse still before someone is maimed. Regards, Chris.

Most videos including this one left us out in the cold. I have not seen how to completely reseal or get the phone back to square one. It's not helpful able to replaced battery but could not close it back properly. Do we need to apply new glue? Do we need to just apply the same heat to reseal the phone? I don't know. Say something, Considering everything goes smoothly without further damages while in the process.

Removing the backcover and the battery was physically much harder than i thought and showed here. I almost spend 1 hour on this! Everything works now... except one pick snapped while removing the battery. Not sure why they would grue in a battery; i mean i see no space where it could move or rattle. The video was very helpful tho!

I was able to do it...and replaced the battery which I found on Amazon. I did shatter the glass backing prying it off, but ordered a replacement for that too. The integrity of the phone is perhaps slightly compromised, but I saved nearly $100

Had to heat it significantly beyond what I thought was hot enough to release the glue, just be patient and heat it thoroughly thru the glass. Also this one had a silver foil liner inside the clear back cover, the foil came loose before the glue near the top...not a big deal as it's going back in the Otterbox. Just something to watch for.

Order the $13 back panel before you start. It's glass. Your first try there is a 99.99999999% chance you will break it. Also the battery is easier to plug in before you put it in it's hole.

When prying out the battery, do not use anything metal. If you puncture the battery seal, it will short out and fry the battery. :(

The errors in your video slow you down. The kit you supply doesn't have the double suction cup device, but one suction cup. Trying to pop out the bottom end first is impossible. Target a long edge first. Again the kit supplied gives six guitar picks, use all six so the placed you popped away stay removed. The original adhesive has a plastic band that you can use the smudge tool to lift for quicker cleanup. The ONE alcohol 1/2 X 1/2 towelette isn't sufficient for one inch of gum removal. Have your own alcohol ready with lint free wipes (NOT q-tips). DO wear neoprene (not latex) gloves, as they are naturally anti-static, and it will keep your finger oils from the inside of the phone.

Insert the new battery, plug in its connector where the old battery was plugged in, insert the 3 plastic pieces and put the 12 screws back in, put the back on. Done! Not really rocket science.

My phone got so hot, the adhesive holding it together came undone on its own. I think I some how was forced to pull it apart/open when the panel flap kept "talking" because the adhesive was no longer holding it together. I opened it, but I fear I may have "torn" something in the process. My battery had lumps in it as well, so glueing it back down wouldn't have worked...
