I fix phones in a repair shop and know about the difficulty of safely removing the OLED screen without damaging it. It isn't impossible but it requires more consistent heat than a typical heat gun can offer and avoiding using metal tools near the corner like that. OLEDs are safe with temperatures of up to 100-105 Celsius on a heat plate or a heat gun with temperature controls. I like to start from the top and work my way to the bottom with business cards, leaving the soft key lights cables for last because they become visible. It's certainly harder with the Edge screens but not impossible either, just requires more patience and a delicate touch. Also, for removing the back glass, you can avoid scraping the paint like that by lifting the glass a bit more and then using either a guitar pick or card to loosen the adhesive. You can get away with it on white phones with some white-out to cover up but better to not scrape it at all!
@schantzee57339 жыл бұрын
+enos218 I typically replace the oled/digitizer assembly, not just the glass. Assuming you have the expensive machinery and high skill required to perform a glass only repair, it seems separating and cleaning the oled may be easier than usual but I can't be sure how they are attached based on this video. This isn't a phone that I would recommend a DIY repair on with the exception of maybe replacing the back glass, cameras, or rear camera lens. Anything requiring screen removal you should take to a repair shop or honestly have insurance on it.
@sarahs.9340 Жыл бұрын
@ 2:25 the answer is a hot yes. I think Samsung has been aware of this problem for awhile & is just happily sending you in to their techs to take apart & charge you for their mistake. This phone also has major screen flickering & black screen issues. Won't be touching another Samsung again.

That's a huge downgrade in performance, camera, screen, call quality, LTE speeds and many samsung based features such as samsung pay and secure folder. Its better to just fix the screen. There's no new $200 smartphone that can outperform an old galaxy s7 no matter the test even if you step up to a new $300 budget smartphone, you'd still loose out on many things.

Then cleaned all the old loca off the screen. Screen was still working fine. Applied new loca and glass panel, no problems. But then I went to install the refurbished LCD back into the frame, and that's when it cracked! Alignment seemed good, so I dunno know what went wrong, but the LCD is so thin.
