Michael Carlyle Gorilla Glass 5 isn't as good as GG4. Plenty of evidence on KZbin. HTC U ULTRA has it and scratches easy. Everything Apple did a drop test with S8 from 3 ft and it cracked.

i went from pixel xl to Galaxy s8 + . it's a huge leap from pixel . the screen looks stunning and the size of whole body is nearly same as pixel but bigger screen which is icing on the cake

I find the fingerprint reader to be very easy to locate, and I don't have big hands. Don't know why there are so many complaints about it - it works really well. The bottom virtual buttons will hide when an app goes full screen. Took me a few days to get used to having to swipe up in order to bring those buttons up. Get a good case that covers the edges. The screen will crack very easily if you drop it on the corner, even from only a couple of feet.

I think you're wrong about Bixby. Apart from the "Google fans" many people will try out Bixby because it's so accessible. Furthermore lets not forget that Google assistant barely works outside the USA. I think Samsung will be much quicker in rolling out Bixby to different counties

First impressions are everything and for most who buy the phone and bixy is still in beta with most features working they'll use Google now for assistant purposes and never touch Bixby again.

Google has a different agenda and not everyone is tied into the Google services. And furthermore Google really stinks in rolling out features outside USA. I cannot speak on outside of the US but in my testing even the things Bixby can do its pretty inaccurate so unless they improve a whole lot it just doesn't seem like it's on the same quality level as other assistants but choice is always good

Granted the 9 has been out for a while, my GF and I just made the switch from iPhone to the Galaxy S8. We love it. But she dropped hers within 36 hours and cracked her back glass pretty bad in the corner. Go figure. Daughter asked what happened and I said 'mommy just spent 130 bucks. Yeah that pissed her off more. Anyway phone is great but I notice the battery isnt as good as my 6s Plus. But still like the GS8 more than my iPhone. After being on iOS for the last 4 years feels nice to get Android again. Last op-system I had was 4.4 and now using 8. I love the cameras picture quality but the video is kind of sketchy. Even at 60 fps. Maybe the ois could have been better. But still happy nonetheless.

Ok, so Bixby is a bit hit and miss, but you can download apps that let you customise the button. I hardly use the fingerprint scanner, as face recognition works for me. However, I have a Urban Armor Gear Plasma Feather-Light case and have no problems accessing the fingerprint scanner on the few times I need to use it. That skin is no way going to protect the phone if dropped - very surprised he's recommending it. . Be nice to see him do a drop test with that skin on. I've ordered the Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector, which is not cheap, and I'm keen to see how it performs. Having gone from a S7 Edge to this phone, I'm really pleased with it.

My S8 stopped working all of a sudden just after 8 months, that too with very minimal usage. I have never installed or played any games in it, the only Apps I used most are WhatsApp, Instagram, Gmail, Chrome Browser and Google Maps. It didn't have any physical damage. I have immersed it in water only once and that too for under a minute. The only issue I had been facing was, the ear speaker was very low for the last few weeks, it was too low that I had to use headphone or put on speaker. On Mar 14, 2018, while I was just browsing Instagram, the App all of a sudden stopped working and automatically got closed. And when I tried to open it again after a couple of minutes, the phone got switched off and that was it, it never switched back on after it. It used to happen earlier, the phone used to get hanged and would restart automatically, but this time it never restarted back. I tried all the options, tried to connect it to a charger, there was no sign of charging, the red led light was not on. Then I tried to hold the volume down and power button together for more than 30 secs, still, it was not turning on.

I have the s9+ now, but I rocked the s8+ for 18mos. It never lagged, great display, camera, battery. If you want save some money it's still a great phone. Even going into 2019. Highly recommend!

For me, the worse is no stereo speakers, come on Samsung, this is 2017 where even the most crappiest Chinese phone has stereo speakers and yours costs thousands but you bought one of the most premium Audio company but ended up putting a crappy mono speaker on your flagship phone. Shame.

the iPhone has 'fake'. Emitting sound out of a earpiece is borderline stereo. Also I've been told many times that my phone is so loud while playing music, that really isn't a problem.

My biggest issues after 6 weeks of out-of-the-box use: Lags, almost daily crashes, apps not working properly (GMail, Messages, WhatsApp, Musicplayer) and the dramatically worse battery life. Had to go back to iPhone. Will give Android another shot once my iPhone doesn't do the trick anymore (probably 3-4 years from now).

The issue with fullscreen is resolved. Simply use two fingers and zoom in like you do when using the camera. It fills the whole screen

I was super hesitant about the Bixby feature, but I've grown to like it quite a bit. Using Bixby is easy and more efficient than Google assistant. It needs work of course, but I have no doubt Samsung is already working on 3rd party app support.

after 2 Galaxy S8+ phones having the restarting issues I returned it before my 14 days were up. It seems like Samsung is ignoring the problem, but it seems to be semi wide spread. Search 'Galaxy S8 restarting' and see what comes up. Even on Samsung Community boards. Moderators have said they have notified Samsung but coming on almost 4 weeks after release no comment from Samsung and no fix to the problem either. My past 4 phones have been Samsung, but if Samsung ignores this much longer it's going to be hard to go back. Since I returned the S8+ I will try to hold off till the fall to get a new phone.

One thing bad I found out was you better keep a cover on it 'cause you can easily scratch the back of the phone. Also I dropped it one day from about 2 feet and cracked the back of it. I took my phone out of my Otter Box, and laid it down, I scuffed the back of it with out realized it. So be careful. It is a good phone. I kinda wish I waited so I could of got the Note8. But it is a good phone.

You do realize that Bixby has a level of hardware and OS control unrivalled by literally any other voice control application for any device, in academia or industry? right? It's not meant to be a google machine like Siri, you can use Google Assistant for that. Bixby is meant to help you control the device.

I love the finger-scanner ID whatever, I like it more on the back. Then on the front. Mainly because I didn't have to move my thumb the same way ( yeah I'm lazy ). I already have my finger on the scanner when I hold my phone. For me, it's perfectly placed, maybe cause I'm right-handed, it must be harder for left-handed folks.

I’ve had my s8 for a while now and everything was good until my phones touch screen started messing up. Super unresponsive even through resetting. It would lag all the time and then freeze up . So I traded it in. Really disappointed , I’ve had a Samsung since the 6 .

Samsung doesn't let a new version of the OS arrive on an older phone before a new one. The reason why the S7 got it so late was because the N7 had nougat. Note phones always get the newest version of android first then Samsung releases the galaxy versions and works their way backward where possible. Personally, I don't think the average person cares about Android updates as long as they get the security updates which has always been a thing (before it was an official google thing, phones tended to get security patches anyway)

Samsung s8 has both bixby and google assistant.You get bixby by pressing the bixby button and google assistant by pressing the home button for 3 seconds

I’m poor and about to invest in this, I heard the 6 has horrible battery so I might switch back or just stick to the iPhone 6 Plus (I prefer android though)
