The difference between the chips is marginal. I don't think there is anything wrong with mediatek 9300. Actually, I just got the tab S10+, and it's very fast!

What are we doing here? 2/3 years of extra software upgrades (promised) is not WORTH anything NOW. What happened is a company cutting the compact version and giving fewer options, downgrading the chipset, cutting costs, charging MORE $ and acting like none of that happened and it's all strategy - and ppl that say I didnt glaze the company enough are the reason we lost charging plugs, superfast cables, and got this new "drop". We don't glaze here.

I have the 11 inch S9, and I love it, I've got for $450 USD, it's a great tablet and I love the cover keyboard with trackpad; why? Because you have a kickstand when you detach the keyboard, I know you don't have backlight on the keys, but it doesn't matter to me. The pencil feels cheap, but for tanking notes it's better than Apple, believe me I've tried both, but I'm no an artist, my point is just depends what do you need and what is useful for you. I've been doing a lot of going back and forth to get the s9 plus or s10 plus. Have the s7 now, and I don't know what way I want to go. Was even looking at s10 ultra. I have a problem liking the best. Don't use it all, but like to play with new tech. What's your input on this? S7 is getting close to needing a battery. I watch alot of movies and utube.

S9 ultra on the discount ALL the way. Sure s10 will have a year or 3 of extra updates - but they are updates to an inferior chip... the snapdragon is better - and we'll need to see how this last gen mediatek plays out long term - the snapdragon is tried and tested in its longevity.

My take? Just get the S9 versions unless you REALLY want that matte screen, get a superior and cheaper 3rd-party keyboard/case combo, and be done with it. No reason to upgrade from my S7+ yet. DeX still works, it's fast enough for what I do, I don't want Mediatek's mess, I don't need 7 years of software updates on a Tab that I use far less than my phone (and I mostly use for entertainment, opening emails and Slack), and more. The only reason why I'm not getting an iPad is because I'm embedded in Samsung's ecosystem save for my MacBook, and I hate iOS. Other than that, no real reason to upgrade. And that's okay! Only super pros, tech people and socialites update gadgets every 6 months or yearly anyway.

Their tablets' chips lag 1 gen behind, last year it was 8gen2, now it's mtek 9300 which is on par with 8gen3. Maybe it's because the chip for tablet is a bit modified? And it takes time. Anyways it's more perfomant than phone chip

I mostly agree, they ditched small powerfull tablet like ipad mini and they focused on ultra big tablet and they say tablet is the future laptop like whatt??, they downgrade the specs like crazy, and i dont like android tablets because we dont have a pro apps like ipad, the only reason to use samsung tablet for me is for the ecosystem which is good samsung ecosystem but bad at implamenting the pro apps i rather use android oneplus pro apps for example if dont wanna use the ipad pro apps, samsung doesn't know what customer wants but focused on apple user to move on galaxy, this is not even a competition for apple😢

Yeah, that was clever by Samsung. They released the Tab S10s earlier than their normal 18-month cycle to avoid the PR that would happen if they released them in February (expected) without the new Snapdragon 8 Elite. So, by releasing them in October, they got their usual Samsung-affiliated channels to compare them with the about-to-be-discontinued SD8G3. Crazy good sleight of hand! No one is saying it is a bad tablet. Could it be better if released in Q1/2025, but Samsung is squeezing more from customer now due to their failed Fab business? With the delay in its 3nm-gen 1 fab process (inferior yield), they could have even put in a more inferior chip (Exynos 2500), so we should be thankful there. The conclusion is if you have a Tab S8, then this is a horrible value to upgrade, especially in the UK, where trade-ins suck. Peak and saturated tablet market, so I can see why Samsung is cost-cutting, whereas Apple has decided to go for the ultra-premium buyer base with Tandem OLED and the M4 beast.

The only noticeable slowdown that I have and DIDN'T want to mention here just because I want to go through a few rounds of updates first is with CAPCUT - when editing videos in 4k (importing from an OSMO POCKET 3) my timeline is stickier and takes time to load than on the S9 Plus. But aside from that - gaming/multiple chrome tabs (like 5-6 only) and notion workspaces are smooth. That is ofcourse OUTSIDE OF DEX - dex, on both the S9 and the S10 adds a whole new layer of un-optimized clutter that does slow down multiple apps.

I use capcut on tabs (tiktok content), and filmora for my long form and more demanding videos on my main pc since it has wayyy more features. Filmora IS available though on android tablets and phones and is free to use.

Yes it's one of my favorites! It's perfect if you're thinking about using the tab as a pc- typing up most things since it integrates REALLY well with trackpad gestures and right clicks to open options. BUT if you are taking notes you'll need to take the tab OFF the case and put it down bare on a table. It's magnetic so it isn't a hassle.
