I just use both, I have an S6 and just got the new iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 for the music creation apps. Though really, I prefer using the S6 as it’s a lot more powerful. Not necessarily the CPU but the OS, as I can run scripting languages like PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, MySQL, Apache, Che, etc. Which means I can use my S6 to program on and it’s good, really good. Utilizing Apache Che and CodeEnvy, I can create practically any application under the sun. Add in the fact that you can connect a 4K monitor, mouse, 3D Printer, and you have an actual computer.

I'm about to review the Tab S6, and already did a little walkthrough. What I can say is, the Tab S6 has a lot more storage than the iPad Pro, comes with the s-pen. The Galaxy Tab S6 is far more customizable than the iPad. Honestly most apps work for Android just fine. And while the iPad has slightly more optimized apps, the Samsung has two operating systems in one package. Having Android and Samsung DeX is huge. Also, Your average user won't notice the difference between a fully optimized tablet app and a stretched phone app. When your device is this good, it isn't a significant difference. With that being said, you may notice in certain apps some minor things that should be fixed. When I open the ebay app in landscape mode, when I go into messages, it instantly switches to portrait because it doesn't support landscape mode. So for me I just open ebay in my web browser. When I am using DeX for multitasking, it is not a big deal to pull up ebay in a browser. In my opinion, this stacks up pretty closely with the iPad Pro. The fingerprint sensor does need some improvement, but I expect that in a software update.

This Tablet is so amazing, im a big samsung fan, actualy i use my Note10+ for almost anyting and i was about to buy this tablet, but my main interest as an artist and writer is on the apps, i want to use clip studio paint and goodnotes 5 for my work and sadly this two apps aren't available for android, and some other apps that i want are only the mobile version of each apps and that makes this tablet not worth the buy. I love that everyone I see using that keyboard is attempting to type on it two handed. When I found out this was coming out I went and checked the keyboard on the Tab S4 and it only had about an inch on the span between my thumb and pinky finger side to side. So why would I use both hands when clearly that keyboard is intended for those of us who want to get more done with less energy wasted. First thing I am going to do when my keyboard arrives this week is reprogram myself to master that keyboard with one hand. I think being to type one handed well laying on my massage table could be rather handy personally.

I’m not very demanding when it comes to tablets, the only issue is that I tend to keep tablets foe a very long time (5 to 6 years), and the shorter android platform support is the the only negative for this tablet, not the tablet or the actual software itself. Just the limited support period. And that is mostly where iPad value comes in for me, it’s iOS freaking long support. I don’t care about conspiracy theorists on this matter.

I'm using it to replace my school books and folders. The big screen is pretty important because sometimes I need to look at two documents at the same time in split screen. Entertainment apps are games :p The iOS app store really doesn't have much, many of the better games (MHFU, Bioshock) have been deleted for no reason at all, and it's pretty much incompatible with emulators for older games. I can't complain about productivity, for note taking, drawing, music recording and editing (cubase, bias fx) it blows Android out of the water. But apples software restrictions just take away a lot of it's potential. Jesus, why can't OneNote add the A4 format? I'd get a Surface and be happy :p

i use my tablet more then my phone at home. i dont get the hate against tablets. they are by far supreme for some couch surfing then any smartphone due to a bigger screen and no gps drain. if i turn of my screen and put it away with sync off and pick it up 2 days later it only dropped 1 or 2% on battery. try that with your smartphone.

What are the areas where iPad pro 11 could be better? Ofcorse it depends on what the os you prefer the most. But what really ipad can do better? Yes, all 3 of those things except for replace "more professional apps" with "better optimized apps." The iPad screen has a higher refresh rate so if you're into gaming, the refresh rate and powerful cpu could turn you to the iPad. Also, if you're into drawing which apparently is a big thing on tablets for some people, iPad is better bc of better drawing apps. Same thing with video editing. Other than that, you will be fine with the Tab s6. I would say the Tab s6 is probably better for productivity bc of Samsung Dex, the keyboard, multiple pen tips and features, popup window, lighter weight - easier to carry around. And it can definitely do games and some drawing if you want, it's just that those experiences will be overall better with iPad

I kind of wish there was more time put into specific features as the whole thing felt a bit rushed. The standout, main feature of the Tab S6 is the expanded Dex support, not requiring a separate display and instead letting you use a track pad. It was barely a footnote here. Was it something you used? Can the whole thing sit on your lap nicely for use with the keyboard and track pad? Could it support a good workflow and be a viable alternative to a Surface? Using it as a normal tablet is great and all but Dex requiring no additional display turns it from a nice addition to a function of the device.

Spot on, Max. The 8gb Tab does close the gap slightly on performance but app optimization is the big thing. Luckily, I haven't run into any issues though with the apps I use on my S6. They are the same as on my iPad. If you're trying to decide between the two, buy both (one at a time if you cant afford both) and take them home for a few days then return them. I'm still on the fence between the two that I have at home. Returning one this weekend

I just got a tab S6 4 days ago and Holly crap this tablet is wicked awesome. I have an 11 max pro cellphone and a 15inch Mac book pro with touch bar. I love my apple products, but this S6 tablet is amazing. I really wanted to switch it up and it did not disappoint. I already have a MacBook pro and I did not want to spend a couple thousand dollars (Canadian pricing) on an iPad pro, Apple pencil and a magic keyboard. Would just be too much when I already have a MacBook pro. I really wanted a tablet for Amazon prime, Netflix, social media, eReader, some games, and with a really nice display. I'm honestly over the moon with this tablet guys. Its so thin, and has the same premium brushed aluminum finish like apple products do, and man oh man can you tell. And the display! This display is no joke. They knocked it out of the park with this display. I would give this tablet 12/10 if I could. I love it!

What sold me on this over the iPad Pro (aside from the price) Is the HDR AMOLED screen, it's stunning, I'm surprised Apple hasn't got on board considering their screens was a selling point at one time. But this is a BIG one: The SPen does NOT need to be charged. As much as I like Apples iPencil, there are times at work when I have to be constantly writing on a screen for hours at a time without a chance to recharge, if the iPencil dies on me, Im screwed. Also, SPens are way cheaper to replace, and work across devices like the Note Phones.

i love Samsung Dex or the potential of it, but i am frustrated that some apps just don't work on a "tablet" mode..i use samsung dex for light surfing among other things. For editing, i still prefer my beef up laptop , which runs linux and windows on a dual boot. But i'm thinking of getting a tablet with keyboard functionality for travelling and the S6 tab looks good, other than the pricing ofc. well, i'll give myself until june to think about it. so far, the reviews looks good, other than not having a headphone jack which is sad to say the least...especially with my investment of wired earphones and headphones... :/ oh well

I have been an avid Android tablet user even before I got a smartphone and as far as apps not being optimized for tablets, it's almost always bs apps that I don't use anyway. Like Facebook, Twitter, and other apps from billion dollar corporations that aren't optimized for Android compared to ios in the first place. Developers worth anything optimize their apps properly and for the few that don't, their are workarounds. Personally, I think most Google apps are much better on a tablet, especially Gmail. Something that doesn't get mentioned much. There are apps that aren't available for Android, but I find the opposite to be true more often for me. There are some apps that I can't live without that just aren't available on ios.

Well there are alternatives, but hopefully at least affinity would make an android version, definitely love affinity photo and designer on my desktop , then there is Rush and Kinemaster for video. Then there is sketchbook, medibang, artrage to name a few for procreate alternate.

I never used any of those apps. So I don't have a problem. I use Kinemaster for videos and Medibang for artwork, then I share my work over the network by turning my Android tablet into a wireless NAS whose storage can be accessed and edited by my PC and other devices in place in the tablet's internal directory. That's impossible and no alternative in iPad😜

Currently, the best Android tablets are really any convertible Chromebook. The Tab S6 has most Chromebooks beat on raw power, but in terms of day to day productivity, a Chromebook will kick an Android tablet's, and an iPad's, ass all day. I mean, for one thing, Chromebooks have a real browser on them. They run the desktop version of Chrome, which means all your extensions are good to use, and it really helps with a lot of websites (for example, the web interfaces of KZbin and Google Docs are MUCH better than their Android apps). Multitasking is great, both in laptop and tablet mode, and pen support is coded into the base of Chrome OS, these days. Any Chromebook with a pen will work much like any other Chromebook with a pen. The biggest thing, for me, though? That aspect ratio. The best convertible Chromebooks right now have a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is amazing for writing and document markup. For gaming, 3:2 is closer to the native ratios of most things you can emulate on them, and native Android games look great with that extra vertical realestate, where they support it (most 3D ones do). An iPad or Android tablet against an Acer, Samsung, or Asus Chromebook isn't even a fair fight, really.

You don't have to use the given s pen, the tablet also supports other pens that you can buy. And while iPad's processor may be better, Tab s6 processor is still really good. Super fast and not buggy.

They were. The Samsung 10.1 inch from 2014 is better than ALL ipads today - stylus (s-pen) with 5 functions, multiple apps on the same page, superhigh resolution, scrolling as you read, voice commands, handwriting recognition, FIND FEATURE THAT FINDS TEXT THAT YOU WRITE WITH SCRUFFY HANDWRITING IN YOUR NOTES - you name it - still much more features than apple's best devices. I own one and it still works perfectly, very reliable.

Played around with both in bestbuy for awhile. I like the iPad pro because the apple pen feels so much better for writing. However, the DeX feature, and productivity as a whole seemed a lot better on the tab s6. Also I'm used to android and everything else you can do with it. But as an engineering student this leaves me torn. The main use for this will be for hand written notes, using less paper, and a little bit of word and excel. Because of the apple pencil and more writing apps, I think I'm going with the iPad pro. Unless someone suggests something else

They are not, Apple's chips are 2-3 years ahead of Qualcomm's ones. The problem with iOS is that it's a closed system, with no proper file system, no possibility of rooting, no possibility to install apps outside the AppStore (even if this is an app developed by you!!!) and so on. But of course you're right that Android apps for tablets are mostly horrible.
