For me under-display camera is still better for foldables. Doing selfies while unfolded isn't really secure to take a photo anyway. The quality is more than acceptable for video calls. The camera improvements on cover screen is the one should be better and the main cameras at the back as well. I think the size seems nice, though I wish it is still slightly wider but not too side that it compromises the one-hand ergonomics, which at least Samsung uniquely sits at not just among foldables but smartphones in general that even smaller phones tend to be already too big for small and medium sized hands. I wish they could make it bit thicker to fit S-Pen inside, but then its tough decision since most seems don't care that S-Pen and prefer thinner device.

While Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and One Plus have made amazing foldables with lots of design improvements, Samsung has released literally the same outdated device for a 3rd year in a row. Oh and for $100 more. They have become the Apple of the Android world.
@Techtablets17 күн бұрын
Sadly they have. It’s a shame I really was expecting something new and different or at least many of the thing mentioned in the review about larger battery, stylus support with the outer screen. Larger outer and inner screens, standard expect ratio outer screen and a stylus silo within the phone. Not to mention charge rates and a larger battery.
@andyH_England17 күн бұрын
I saw an article saying that consumers are keeping their tech for longer and longer, which Apple understands, so apply a business model of iterative updates. Samsung has finally realised that copying Apple is the best long-term strategy and is doing the same. It is boring for people fortunate to upgrade regularly, but it differs for the average consumer who upgrades every 4-5 years.
@tiffanyorlane244417 күн бұрын
Vivo made the best fold1ble with the x fold 3 pro .
@sparky675717 күн бұрын
It didn't change in many ways, but it changed in the *right* ways. If I wanted a OnePlus Open I would buy a OnePlus Open. Fold 6 sticks to a design that's perfect for my use case, and improves that design. Would I upgrade from a 5 to a 6? No. Would I upgrade from a 4 to a 6? Well yes I did, but only because the 4 was a bad year for durability and I'm cashing out while I still have trade-in value. But if I had a Fold 3, now we're talking - dramatic improvements from there. And that's how it should be. Radical design shifts every year make the phone fresh for people who spend way too much to upgrade yearly, but radical design shifts aren't objectively improvements. The Fold? Very nearly every single change year over year is objectively an improvement, no room for opinions - if you liked the Fold 2, you'll love the 6, period. On the other hand, major redesigns always have people who aren't happy about it - there are still people upset that headphones have largely gone from using 3mm jacks to being either USB C or Bluetooth, because removing the 3.5mm jack was a move that paved the way for better waterproofing but at the cost of a feature that some people still used.
@andyH_England17 күн бұрын
The Fold 6 will appeal to Galaxy Fold fans, but I wonder if it will persuade the agnostic to move to Samsung as it does nothing new or compelling. The small battery is a shame, as a device with a larger inner display would ideally need a larger battery than candy bar alternatives. With OnePlus moving to 6000mAh this year and rumours that they are working on 7000mAh, it does show how far the Chinese are ahead in hardware. Samsung fans make the excuse that the software is better, but I am unconvinced, especially if, like many, you do not use DeX, an S-pen and don't need 6 years of support on a device that you will likely ditch after 2-3 years.

25w charging they are behind now 5 years

Very behind in charge rates compared to other foldables

I heard that even the new iPhone will get 40-watt charging, so I can only assume that Samsung still needs to find a method to charge their folding phones fast.

That screen resolution can't be right, according to gsmarena it's 1856 x 2160 pixels.

No spen support on cover screen is a deal breaker 😢
@andyH_England17 күн бұрын
Yes, with the narrow front display, s-pen support on the front is probably more useful than the interior. But as Samsung pay a license for the use of the S-pen display, it is another exercise in cost-cutting.

So odd they didn’t add this!
@Techtablets17 күн бұрын
It would seem so cost cutting so they didn’t do it.
@Pishijoon17 күн бұрын
@Techtablets but Chinese ones like Honor , Oppo, Oneplus all have it ! 😩

Way too expensive. I'm more curious what oneplus will do with their next Open device.

Samsung is the best (incompetence/disappointing your fan base). A Thinner edges, more square design and a full price++ . They didn't even bother improving the quality of the screen to hide the 4mpx camera. Samsung is just a deception on the foldable market. What a Shame.

The fact that crease is so insanely obvious in all angles is just a monster failure from Samsung

25W charging for a 2024 flagship that costs almost $2000 is criminal. Absolutely criminal.
@Techtablets17 күн бұрын
I really thought they would have upped the charging speed to at least 45w

That stupid crease is still there after 6 iterations. Bloody Samsung...

Samsung fold not as good as rivals for hardware, but Samsung software is superior with more features. One UI is far better than anything from OnePlus, Vivo or Xiaomi. What do people really want?
@Techtablets15 күн бұрын
The hardware is not the best now but yes the software still gives Samsung the edge.

25W charging? no way
@Techtablets17 күн бұрын
Sadly yes still 25w like it’s 2017.

After waiting and saving for months to buy the ZF6, I am am completely deflated. Samsung seems hell-bent on shoving AI down my throat and turning a useful tool into a kid-like toy. I don't want AI enhanced pictures... I want higher resolution cameras. I don't need help turning stick figures into cartoons, I want a built in S-Pen. The list goes on and on. AI is obviously planned to substitute for higher quality hardware. I'm out.

not worth it = Z fold 6 some notable - the battery is not sufficient for its asking price - modem is outdated for its asking price - CPU is the same as S24 plus which has a price of 799 - S-pen is not integrated - AI is just software and it will be available to S23 and S24 models - the increase of price is for them to have margin to retain developers and engineers on their R&D department - Camera is the same - price increase so they can cover the rent on the venue, so they can cover the reimbursement of the flights of their guests and invited marketing artists not enough, only a niche market for fold 6 those are dumb enough to by a 1900 phone and those have people that does not think about the expense for a middle class, there are better phones out there and second hand phone that can save you a lot of dollars still rocking with a note 9 and A52 can't go wrong with this 2, no fancy AI, because these AI stuff, you can download third party app and have the same feature use capcut for editing, use google translate for conversation, etc... for security, if you are diligent enough to not to fall for sms scams, use android messages and block them for voice phishing, enable caller ID, see fold 6 is not worth it

Tons of missed opportunities as you said. I'm sure its a great device but Samsung has become the same as Apple does. Only minor changes and no point buying it. I hope the Chinese such as Onepuls, Honour would come out with something more impressive.

couse you don't need to upgrade your phone every year. Only rich KZbinrs and reddit show off upgrade every year

@LendMeYourSuperCar You have a point. If I wasn't covering these phones I do I would still be using my S23 Ultra or S22 Ultra.
