Good Lock can be a blessing in disguise not just beautification features actually useful features. The problem is that Samsung should include some of the most useful features in the OS itself and often they don't do that. A vertical app drawer or needing multi star to make your life easier on Z Flip's flex window are perfect examples

I agree. Another big example is the override for high resolution and more than 5 active apps in DeX. Those should be standard behaviour.

That's how it used to be before KZbin influencer iPhone fanboys aggressively pushed the silly narative that all those special features were a detriment to Samsung phones. Too many people started believing that nonsense so Samsung decided to make all those features seperate from the out-of-the-box phones. It was done simply to appease the people who bought into that false narative.

@@CastroJordan the standard OS options are anything but simplified. Besides, there are dedicated sections in Settings for "Advanced Features" and "Labs". Good Lock is often where new features are effectively beta tested before being mainlined. It just feels that some of these are long overdue to be included in the mainline Settings.

They do that. Some Good Lock options are moved to the settings menu when you use the good lock app on the Fold.

Multi lock is it. Changing defaults to satisfy user prefs. This is the reason i love android. Number 1 use for me is one handed mode. Enables side gestures to customize up to 12 gestures total. Animations are customizable too

Multi window screen zoom and multi focus are the biggest things that make the foldable experience so much better on Samsung than others (multi focus also helps with DeX). The overrides for aspect ratio and orientation are also super helpful for otherwise poorly designed apps. Samsung makes some Good Lock features part of the main OS eventually, but these should really be in there as standard now.

I'm running One Hand Operation+ too on my Fold. You can set a lot of gestures while you still have the button mode on instead of swiping/gestures. In this case you have the buttons and you can use gestures. Perfect combination for multitasking and not mentioned enough.

Shane, thanks for demonstrating Good Lock. I've always been tempted to try it out, but kinda was scared I might mess up things on accident. Seeing you go through the menus makes it easy to follow. I'll give it a shot.

I picked up a Z Fold 5 a few days ago and put on just the back side carbon fiber case earlier today like it looks you have on your 6, the front part is what's annoying and falls off or gets in the way 😆

I recently changed the battery on my fold 3 that I've been running since 2021 and during the repair the samsung team broke the internal screen and they just swapped both screens and the battery for a total of 80 euro. I was planning to get the F6 but I dont think the camera is enough of an improvement. Just because of that I was going to preorder a Pixel Fold 9 but man seeing that your second Pixel Fold is broken in less than two months really puts into question of the reliability of the Pixel Fold devices. Because I don't have a youtube channel and not on Team Pixel if anything goes wrong with my pixel 9 fold I will be out of luck So I will just stick to my current setup Fold 3 For work and Iphone 15 Pro max for pictures and video

Do you get HORRIBLE lag when using "high resolution mode" after connecting to monitor/projector? I do, so I turn OFF the "high resolution mode" and get much better latency. I wish I could mirror the 120hz screen to my 120hz monitor or 120hz projector, but it dumbs everything down to 30hz. Ah!

I use good lock multistar multi screen zoom turned on for split screen on my s24 and it fits the content better than if you have it turned off in split screen come from fold 5 never realky thought to split screen on slab but where I have fold I've enjoyed multitasking so thought I'd give it ago on s24 ultra it's not as bad as it sounds

Thankfully the Chinese OEMs are also doing most of these now. On the Honor V3's settings I have: (On a per app basis, and can be enabled for all) - Stretch over the notch in landscape or don't - Force screen orientation auto rotation for apps that don't rotate - Force allowing horizontal/vertical split screen - Force screen ratio (4:3, 16:9, full) - Camera isn't under display so it's higher quality but always black (good or bad depending on preference) Multi lock has a few extra things but these are the main ones I have enabled on my Fold 4 and I'm glad they're here in the Magic V3. I believe the Pixel Fold 2 might not have all of these options since they can look broken in rare cases.

Oh wow, I didn't know galaxy folds put black bars around apps - I always thought they forced full screen. Makes me feel better about my pixel fold

Galaxy Folds can always Force Full screen and can do so on any app the User desires but it's not on by default and need to be activated through the settings.
