I always saw this place like Disneyland as a kid. I wanted to be at Galaxyland no matter why my family decided to come into Edmonton. And the thing that I just love is the overall theming of "confusion" that was always unique and charming. Not knowing about the Fantasyland incident and always confused as a small child in the early 2000's about why hot air balloons or dragon rides or a swinging ship belonged in a space-themed amusement park. Now we are adding to the theme of just throwing stuff in with property board games, potato people and multicoloured ponies. Keep being weird, Galaxyland.

It's such a weird feeling to see what's currently going on at Galaxyland. When I was there in late December, the only thing I saw closed was the games. I remember going on Zero Gravity and being stuck on there for probably 20 minutes.

Here are a couple things. First, the Trouble themed Zero Gravity is now open and looks amazing. Nothing else is changed, it's just Trouble themed. Also, you forgot to mention that the arcade near the Zero Gravity and Cosmo's Space Derby is getting renovated as well. Don't know if it is getting a Hasbro theme or just a clean, new look. A suggestion, like at places like Disneyland/World and Universal, West Ed should put walkaround characters throughout Galaxyland and other parts of the mall, such as: The Mane 6, the Monopoly Man, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, the game pieces from Sorry, Furbys, Littlest Pet Shop, etc. Because Cosmo and Sharky are rarely seen throughout the mall and Galaxyland, so some more walkaround characters would be an interesting concept. Off the topic of Galaxyland, where do you buy older Edmonton mall directories (like the one featured in the Phase 3 food court video, and it's not just WEM), Klondike Days and Capital Ex maps, and magazines that were available for fans to read for free at Oilers games? I have looked everywhere for them, Kijiji, eBay, nothing. I want to know where to buy these things.

Fun fact: first time I went on havoc with a friend, we were doing upside down circles and she almost slipped out. Everyone on the ride was yelling to stop the ride but it didn’t work lol. She’s also super tiny and the restaurants I didn’t even touch her. It was definitely scary but A good memory that we have now and can laugh about. P.S she’s ok. We went on again A year later🙃

I spent most of my life doing it, and discovered you can get away with even more the older you get (most of the time)!! Security at WEM gave me a hard time last year for skating through the mall from the FLH to get a coffee at the Tim Hortons at the Ice Palace. The most recent time I got kicked out of the waterpark I was 39.

Mindbender does need a new coat of paint in my opinion, even if it has the same colour scheme it will look a lot more “fresh”. The paint is very faded currently. Maybe even a re-theme.

so may have an idea of what they might call the mindbender and what the baloon wheel may look like. i really like mlp i have loved it since i was a little girl. In season 8 episode 5 there is a unique place with a huge indoor amusement park including a ferris wheel with baloons and a crazy looping coaster. might be a hint ino some later theming. hope that helps.

I hate this retheme, and now I understand why older people miss fantasyland so much, because its what they’ve grown up with and now we are losing galaxyland which is what us Edmonton kids have grown up with. I have a theory and I think they are going to take over the old space that was the old west 49 and the old dragon fx tattoo place, their is a speedway sign on the outside, but it has been vacant for the last two years. I am wondering if that is not going to be were the food and merchandise area is going to go? I can see them putting up a wall blocking galexyland from the food court, and them having food in that area. If you look in the part that is their now it looks like it has not been touched for a long time. and nothing is going on in that area for a year, plus they had the licensing for two years, right around when they put up the boards for the west Edmonton mall speedway.

I think Game of Life would be either the bumper cars or one of the roller coasters. I’m leaning towards roller coaster being that the game of life board is kinda like a roller coaster track. the reason why I think the bumper cars have potential to be game of life is because the play pieces are cars but in all honesty a roller coaster is a better representation of game of life

Did... you seriously make fun of the iron? I wish that piece was still included in Monopoly. It was my favourite piece hands down. Now I always use the car but the iron was always my go to. To me it was just perfect. Flat and easy to manage, simple and easy to keep track of, and also showed respect of history as the iron was one of the first types of inventions used to help a menial task, it also was designed off of the original style iron. Not the one’s we see today.

i don’t think the balloon race would have a solo MLP theme being that it’s targeted towards kids having such a girly theme would turn away the boys since they don’t want to play with that stuff. I still think MLP would be a part of the theme but in conjunction with a more boy/neutral theme (and yes bronies are a thing but that’s mainly older guys)
