Dan, having the opportunity to go out with you was amazing! We were able to see first-hand how creative you are in terms of teaching. You answer questions that haven't been asked yet in the moment - that is talent. You are enthusiastic, fun, and great to be out with. The rocks you cut turned out wonderful. Thank you so much! You were our inspiration to go on youtube!

In 1967, my family drove out to Vancouver Island on a cross-Canada summer holiday. Being a rockhound from early childhood, I wanted to look for rhodonite, and my parents indulged me. I remember Dad driving us up a narrow logging road, and we ended up at a remote fire-watch station. The ranger was so happy to see interested strangers that he showed us around, informed us that we were NOT at "Hill 60", but helped me find some samples of rhodonite, both bright pink, and a pretty sunny yellow colour! Thanks for the memories!

Nice, but very steep, hillside full of incredible rhodonite! A liked the ones with the darkest rust color. But, if I had the money to buy it, I would love to own the one with the "trees" as you called it. However, I think that one looks like a setting sun, shining down on a harbor full of boats with tall masts. That was the first thing I saw when I laid my eyes it. Thank you for sharing, Dan, with 2 nice friends! You are amazing and I learn a ton with your GLOTD. Blessings from Alabama ❤️

About 8 years ago I obtained some amazing Rhodonite from a fellow in Coombs. I can't remember his name, he had a rock shop there with some unreal carved 'Junks' from China. Carved in BC Jade. He soon sold his store and I think he is now doing a fishing charter business. Around Lake Alice on the island is where he found the Rhodonite. I have a 2lb block from him that is almost pure pink.

That one @ 1426 looks like a sunset with the trees in silhouette in the foreground, even got a pond just to the left reflecting the sky. In general I think the stuff looks sorta like under cooked meat. I had a piece that looked like a chunk of pastrami, which is funny because I had a butcher shop and displayed it on top of the display case. Pretty sure I've been to this location, don't worry your secret is safe.

My Mom used to hike this mountain with her Dad and little brother back in the 1950’s. Her Dad knew where to go and find lots of Rhodonite. One trip she grabbed the wrong boulder and ended up rolling down the hill bruising her self up pretty badly, it was her last trip unfortunately.
