awesome video! I am a new subscriber to your channel and wish I had found it sooner. your videos have tons of life saving tips and first hand survival knowledge. I am a gold prospector in Colorado, I offer some tips for gold panning... 1 use something to stop gold floating away like "jet dry", "dawn soap", one or two drops in the pan stops gold from floating. 2 when the pan is about half full tap the edge of the pan as it is tilted, tapping helps more than shaking back and forth at the end of the panning process. 3 don't pan in the river you will loose a lot of gold due to the fast moving water, dig a small hole 24" wide and 10" deep or more and fill with water. this way you don't miss anything and plus it's better for the fish in the river and the wild life, some of the dirt and rock that you find gold in also have a lot of toxic metals like "lead", "mercury", "cobalt", and so on. I truly love your videos dude! and I hope my tips help someone out there ✌😎

Hey Greg. In 6 hours, i've got a 19-hour flight to help some jungle researchers in Borneo for a few weeks. Needed some stuff to watch on the journey out and back, so I have downloaded 80% of your playlists. A total of 108 videos. That should keep me more than entertained. I will be taking one of your t-shirts out there with me and flying the Greg Ovens flag in Sabah. Great video, as always. All the best to you and Finn

Wow! I think I would have been jumping around, (metaphorically speaking of course) in excitement. I've never panned for gold or garnets before and it looks like so much fun. Of course, you need patience, but I have plenty of that so one day, maybe I will be in a place where this is possible. Just for fun, of course. 😀 I'm just as happy to see someone else find some too.

When panning, keep the material under water. That will help to clear the rocks out of your pan. The deeper water will take advantage of the slight buoyancy of the rocks, allowing less force to move them. The deeper water in your pan will increase the water's force on those rocks. Give it a try.
