Shadows Star yeah but they do if your WR is in the tank for literally years, which is usually the case with outdated kits so it’s kind of a chicken/egg scenario. Aatrox was an interesting (see: stupid) case where riot announced they were going to rework him after what 3 years of unviability and THEN buffed his kit to where he was finally playable, but couldn’t cancel the rework because they’d already finished it which was just the biggest slap in the face to old Aatrox players.

Trenton Smith no that's not what I was saying in my original comment. I really enjoy when champions are reworked and I love playing new reworks. The point I was making is that before a champion rework, no one ever talks about the champion, and the champion would be underplayed. After the rework, you see a whole bunch of people complaining about how the pre-rework was better and that riot is messing up the game (even though no one played the champion pre rework so how was it better?)

As a Galio player, while this does seem very different from what the champion was, I'm very optimistic about these changes. The new Q, while drastically changed, will still act as a source of in-lane poke and farm. His W no longer allows him to heal off of tower shots and the pain of his allies, which I will miss, but substitutes bits of his old ultimate and maintains his antimage identity by giving a passive magic shield. His E now only acts as a gapcloser rather than being usable as a poke tool, which was part of his ultimate waveclear combo, and not being able to jump walls is kind of odd since the ability reminds me greatly of Sejuani's Q, which can. This is going to trip people up and is my least favorite part about his new kit. Ult seems like the rad offspring spawned by Shen and Pantheon's ults. All told, I look forward to figuring out where Galio plays best (probably mid/top, though possibly support). Is it Thursday yet?

Played this guy a few times back in the day, he sucked horse ass. Now he is actually a viable tank/kinda ok support. It's a nice rework. As is tradition, Rito will nerf him to death in 2 patches so enjoy it while it lasts.

Old Galio had a unique playstyle that was fun for sure, but it was really 1-dimensional and the W that made him fun was also honestly a broken mechanic. To all the people complaining about the replacement of Galio, you have to move on, and this is coming from someone who spammed Galio in season 4. The only thing that I will miss is his old lore, it was not very deep but that concept could have been fleshed out to be way cooler than a statue that protects Demacia.

I liked the old design of Galio, he was a classic gargoyle. His skill yes they seem to fit better. But I wish this was his Damacia skin, gargoyles are able to change their appearance to fit in with the architecture of the city or building they're calling home. So it would be cool for him to have a skin for the other areas of the game as well.

They kept a lot of what galio was, and expanded on it. He can taunt numerous enemies around him same as before, only more often now for shorter durations. He's still strong against magic, while using magic himself. His new ranged poke is stronger than his old one if used right. The old one just shot forward and did damage. It was so generic. He has personality now, I don't know if he'll be played too much though, since tanky bruisers aren't that meta asides a few star players.

His lore was ultimately the identity of being a protector for those in need. They didn't take that away from him if you read his new lore, the only difference is now he protects more than one person at a time because his reawakening is a sign of great peril for all. Sure he talks worse than a stereotypical jock out of an 80's movie now, but his purpose remains the same.
