Iseltwald is one of the fairytale village which is situated on the shores of the Lake Brienz (Brienzersee) in Canton of Bern (Bernese Oberland), which is 11km away from the Interlaken. Also you may know this village from Korean Drama Iseltwald Crash Landing On You scenes on Netflix. The village is a kind of landmark of Lake Brienz with its picturesque Iseltwald Castle on peninsula. On this 4K episode we will give some useful travel tips about the lakeside village and things to do around there.
Iseltwald has less than 400 population and very popular travel destination around Interlaken in Canton of Bern. The village offers peaceful surrounding with its nature and quietness. There are three ways to get to visit this fairytale location. You can take a bus from Interlaken OST to get there. One of the other most popular option is getting there by ferry from Interlaken Ferry Terminal to Iseltwald Ferry Terminal. And sure its possible to visit by car, but you have know that, the village is car-free area and only locals have permission to drive in the lakeside village.
There are some hotel, hostel and Airbnb rental options to accommodate during your overnight visits like Strand Hotel and Lake Lodge Hostel. If you love some adventure, the lakeside village have some camping areas. Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding (SUP) are the popular water sport activities. Another adventurous activity is 5km hiking to Giessbach Waterfalls. It has easy difficulty level and takes around 2 hours to reach Giessbach Waterfalls. Giessbach also has some picturesque views from Grandhotel Giessbach and its restaurant area in Lake Brienz.
This Iseltwald Castle was built in 1907 and has had a rather interesting history over the years. However, the castle is privately owned and not open to the public. There are some shops, bus stop, ferry station and tourist information in the center. There are couple of cafe and restaurants serve local cuisine and delicious Swiss dishes. Also typical Alpine Swiss architecture is dominant in the area. You can awesome chalet houses and lovely garden landscapes with colorful flowers.
