Defibrillator Seriously though, I know this video is for fun and teasing, but Here are some fun facts and background about the film. The following are real events that led to several old horror tropes in that era. Back around the time this movie was made there was a scientist that was running experiments that eventually gifted humanity with the 1st time scientists were able to bring beings back from the dead. Everything started once the concept that muscles could be made to move by zapping them with electricity was widely known. You see at that time, once a person's heartbeat stopped, nothing could be done. They were dead and that was it. Now the general populace was very frightened at the prospect of bringing people back from the dead. They did not understand that those people were recently deceased and people basically imagined corpses coming back to life zombie style. There was no way of knowing if a human's mind would be affected if the experiments succeeded, which they eventually did. Thus, there were fears that the body would be revived through electricity, but the soul/consciousness was gone for good. Whether or not a person's memories would be revived when the body was restarted was a real unknown even to scientists. The aforementioned man who was doing such research was eventually ran at out of his laboratory just short of torches and pitchforks. In initial tests, scientists had discovered that if you shocked the dead body, the one I'm mentioning was using dogs, the muscles would react. In a few cases the dog sat up and one actually seemed to imitate what they thought were the last few seconds of it's life. It seemed responsive. The scientist most involved was able to use not only electricity, but a serum that started the heart again and the scientist learned that the fresher the corpse the better it worked, eventually taking dogs that were going to be put down and putting them down to bring them right back. After he was run out of his laboratory, the scientist created the 1st heart lung machine in his garage out of a vacuum cleaner and shoe eyelets(the metal circles laces go through.) He tried to get permission to run one of his tests to bring people back life considering that he'd had the success with several of the dogs during his earlier experiments. He even released a film to show people not to be afraid which is still around; it's about a boy whose dog was brought back to life. Finally, the scientist arranged with the prison system to test his machine on an inmate who was given the death penalty. Right before the prisoner was supposed to be put down, in the very last minutes after months of trying to get clearance and getting the proper clearance, the prison workers sat him down and explained that they were concerned that if he brought the man back to life they technically performed the death penalty and could not retry the man based on double jeopardy and thus he would go free. So after hearing this and upon understanding, the scientists actually gave up his work, leaving his electric method similar to the fibulator his serum that restarted the heart which is something we use as well as the world's 1st heart lung machine and instead spent the last the rest was life as a shoe salesman. Did I mention he was even 30 when this all happened? So anyway a lot of these movies are in reference to those events it was a time people had a real terror of these things they heard were going on didn't really have a good understanding but we hustle it was the birth of 3 ways to bring people back to life. There is an episode of a documentary TV show "Dark Matters" that tells his story.

I was in a civic theatre production of an Agatha Christie play, where the director wouldn't let us do British accents because she didn't think we could sustain them.
