Perfect timing for this video. I have recently cleaned my gyre because it stopped running. It turns out that I think that my impeller needs to be replaced because it does want to spin freely on its own. One question, is the gyre that you were working with the newer model or the older model? I have the kind that you have. It was given to me, so I don't know which it is. Great video.👍🏾

I guess they use the XF 380 (or is it called 370?) as to the large aquarium they use it for. Otherwise it'd be XF350

Very good tutorial, thank you very much! Right now it crossed my mind; what would happen if you clean the pieces of the water pump using an ultrasonic machine like a Creworks Digital UltraSonic with just using RODI water? I have seen that people clean various objects with very good results with these machines only using water. - Ramón 🇲🇽

Trying to get back in after being out for over a year, I grabbed my Ice Cap Gyre pump, and plug it in trying to get it to run... nothing, see if it needs cleaning? Nope. When I plug it in it starts up initially but then stops and flashes an error code at me, try to hook up with "the app" (hydros) and it tells me I need to update, try to update and it can't communicate with it. Damnit I missed the old days when the only thing you need to worry about with a pump is the impeller shaft swelling, and if it didn't do that it just worked, yes even DC pumps like Tunze streams.

Hi Cam. I have them too, the XF330s but not active in my aquarium right now. I have a hard time getting used to them; which direction do they shoot the water; still puzzles me. It is such a different kind of flow when compared to other pumps like Tunzes and Vortechs.

They do provide a unique type of flow. I typically use them just under the water surface to give good surface agitation. It’s this unique flow that compliments standard wavemakers so well. Cam

The Maxspect gyers are horrible as soon as they get film on the propellers the cut the flow to way under 50 percent

Thank you cam awsome as allways...is there any type internal circulation pumping system that can ever fully replace the need for powerheads...presumening the pump is strong enough and some of the outlets are multidirectinal ect.🦞🦈🐠🐟🦐🦀🐙🐡
