I seriously doubt any of the kitchen staff are making in excess of US$200/week to work every day for many months at a time. Commercial cruise ships pay about half that.
@JCrook10283 жыл бұрын
@@robertdave Their pay in US $ means almost nothing without the context of how that exchanges into the currency wherever they live and pay taxes. Could be a lot, could be not. We simply do not know so making a comment like you just did is meaningless.

@@JCrook1028 That was a bit critical??

When I used to do some work on Standard Oil ships the crews were filipino while the Officers were British, the crew spent 9 to 11 months on board. Those ships were the cleanest ships I’ve been on from stem to stern, top to bottom.

Tristen: that is always my favorite part of cruising. Getting to know the crew. My late husband and I did a behind the scenes tour of NCL Pearl many years ago and it was my favorite part of being on that ship. I truly enjoy getting to know the people who work so hard to bring the passengers happiness. You are a gem for doing this. Many thanks!

Wow Wow Wow. This must be the most interesting thing i think you have done in my book. Those guys sure know how to work. That is so humbling to hear how they respect not only each other but also there colleagues and families. I will never grumble again about working a 39 hour week and 2 days of ever again. Not only do they work insane hours and months but i dont think they see much daylight let alone land. Hats of to them all and to you Tristan for letting us see a world i fear companies wouldn't otherwise want us to see. Keep up the great work ... 👍

Clean galley (and boat as per your other video tours). The workers are so happy, something I would not be able to reflect like them if I were away from my family for so long, so kudos to them! I hope internet connectivity is decent enough for them to spend virtual calls with loved ones! We made sure to be thankful to all the wonderful staff on the cruises we have been on. It is nice to know the hours are less (per day ... but, wow, everyday for 8-10 months...) than working on a cruise, hah ha, however the trade off might be less stabilization on this transporter vs a cruise - sea legs required!!! Ack darn COVID19, they cannot even enjoy some land time =(

I am surprised that there is not more bad weather bars around the shelves in the stores. I used to know a chap who supplied rare wines to Cunard. He basically sourced wine from cellars that were being sold for probate and so on. Cunard would ask for lists of very rare wines. Sometimes there would only be a couple of bottles, especially of things like 1926 port. They would snap it up. I went with him to deliver to the QE2, just for fun. The wine cellar there was so well protected against storms. Imagine if an ancient vintage port, possibly worth a couple of thousand pounds (and this was back in the late 80s), smashed?
