10:00 IIRC, when they were choosing voice actors for the various characters, they ended up specifically choosing people who could sing as well, as they wanted the opportunity to potentially have any character in a song if they wanted. And yes, they've got a great soundtrack, but many songs reference major spoilers, so you'll definitely want to wait on that!

Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem were intended to form a series finale in case SU was cancelled abruptly in the middle of its first season (which because of its slow buildup and linear storytelling was a good possibility).

One of my favorite details about the episode Ocean Gem is that it actually was seen in an earlier episode. In Steven and the Stevens, when they're all fighting over the Time Thingie, one of the places they warp to is the dried up ocean. Easily missable, but a fantastic detail. Edit: There are multiple soundtracks. 2 whole volumes just for vocal tracks, then a soundtrack for the background music for each of the 5 seasons, 1 full soundtrack for the movie, and 1 for Steven Universe Future, making a total of 9 albums!

Steven Universe is one of my handful of Forever Shows that I can always go back and watch any part of. First season is sincere if slow, but it builds up literally everything about the world and I love it for that. Also love the Gals doing episodes three-at-a-time which seems a good pace now, but gonna be a weird rhythm when they get to the SU "events" etc. Can't believe we've got to Lapis Lazuli already! Really feeling Paula's blue chair too!

When I tell y'all the fandom went insane when Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem dropped...it was bananas. First off, Mirror Gem so expertly slides from the show's usual fun and goofy vibe to sinister and uncomfortable. It isn't the last time the show does that and I love it. Finally meeting another humanoid Gem was Earth-shattering, and the way this plot sets up things to come....legendary. So I think most people know Mirror/Ocean Gem was originally written as a finale, but season 1 wound up being twice as long as every other season for some reason. I won't list them all here, but this two-parter has references to every single episode of the season thus far. It's a little detail that I love.

And boom goes the dynamite! Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem is a huge turning point in the series. After this, episode plots largely move away from monster/mission of the week eps, or plots built around weird gem tech or gem abilities (no more time travel or duplication).
