2:55 Fun Fact! Steven's vocals for the extended version of the Crystal Gems intro sound so much younger than Steven is in the "present" in the show, because that's a MUCH older recording of Zach Callison singing it. That recording was done when he was about 10 years old for the Steven Universe PILOT episode that never aired on Cartoon Network. They reused the audio for littler Steven. When he started recording dialogue for the series proper, he was about 12 years old and tried to make his voice sound a tiny bit older. As time goes on, you hear Steven's voice change because Zach was aging faster than Steven, so he had to make himself sound younger to match him. If you listen to all of Steven's songs up until now back-to-back, you can hear the change in his voice even more.

Fun fact! Steven doing drag on stage sparked up quite the "unaccepting" crowd on the internet back then. Nightmare hospital has hands down some of my favourite jokes in the series. "A SWORD?!?!", "Did your eyes just magically get better?" "YES!!!" Amazing episode, gets overshadowed by a lot more but it still holds a special place in my heart Also I strongly relate with Sady in this episode, her argument with her mother brings up a lot of my own childhood memories, I like that the creators decided to talk about this family dynamic

I never actually realised how much I relate to Sadie till watching this. At my 16th birthday I had planned a simple picnic that I wanted to do myself, the set up, the food, etc. But my mom COMPLETELY took over it. It was still nice ofc and I had a great time but it wasnt what i had originally wanted. Then at my 18th yesterday, again i was planning for a simple but elegant event with my friends but my mom kept making out of proprtion suggestions during planning and doing a lot of extra stuff. Again i really enjoyed it and i know she was just trying to make sure I'm happy but I wish she'd just let me plan stuff myself and let it be as simple as i want it to be.

For some reason I always think Rose's sword will get stuck in the ceiling like that episode of Bleach. I don't think Pearl would have a problem with Connie having the sword, she is her apprentice after all. She'd have a problem with Connie's mom taking it.

There are some gym shard theories, one is the Frybo, that the Crystal Gems had used enemy gem shards and bound them to armor (the armor of Rose Quartz' training are is the theory), but proved too unstable, see Frybo. Another darker one that is why we haven't seen anything like this sense goes back to season 1 and the painting in the Together Breakfast episode. So that painting was apparently made from crushed gem shards (in real life many paints are made from crushing gems and rocks for the pigment), so the theory was some alchemist or sorcerers were finding gem shards and using them to make paint to create cursed paintings. That Garnet was going on these solo missions to find these paintings and crushed shards to "dispose of them" as being totally crushed nothing but their turn into somekind of monster thing could happen, so burning them was like a cremation or separating out the microscopic bits of gem from the cloth or paper was being done to collect them after burning. But from what I heard this direction was dropped as it supposedly would create human villains which wasn't the direction they wanted to go, or further imply Garnet or other Crystal Gems were going after and harming humans.

One of the greatest things about the song you had at the beginning of this reaction is it helps demonstrate one important thing. Greg didn't teach the Gems how to sing, Rose didn't teach them. They learned it from Steven and it's how they express and grow with their emotions. They learned to sing so they could be part of his song.

When Nightmare Hospital came out, some proposed that the Gem mutants weren't attacking Steven and Connie, but that even in their literally shattered mental conditions they can sense Rose Quartz's gemstone in Steven, and at a very basic level that means "healing" to them, although neither Steven nor his mother's gemstone can help them (the one in the room was quiet enough until Steven and Connie came in). Tragically sad.

13:27 This was my dad. After I turned 13 every time he bought a bottle of alcohol he offered my brother and I a single sip so we would know what it tastes like. His reasoning was if it wasn't a big deal to us we'd be less likely to drink. And you know what, it worked. My brother's never been interested in alcohol and I didn't purposefully get drunk the first time til I was 18, and I told my dad after. And even now as a grown adult I rarely ever drink because outside of having the occasional beer to relax or cocktail with friends getting drunk was never fun for me. I've never blacked out or gotten to the point where my judgement was severely impaired and I owe that to my dad. I got drunk once by accident (Mike's Hard Lemonade) when I was 11 and my mom threatened to kick my ass if I ever did it again. Guess who I never went to when I had problems?

I had been looking forward to Nightmare Hospital for a while but I forgot it pairs well with Sadie's Song. The contract between the mothers' parenting styles is so different yet both girls have trouble opening up to them. There are a lot of episodes banned or censored in other countries but I couldn't find the list for China. Sadie's Song was never aired in the Middle East and Turkey cut the scene of Steven singing in Sadie's clothing.

It always frustrates me how "logic thinking" characters like Dr. Maehaeswaren can witness magical and/or supernatural stuff happening RIGHT SMACK IN FRONT OF THEM...and yet act like "it's all fake" or there has to be a "logical" reason behind it. What's logical about a supposed patient that has an arm growing out where their head should be...or a boy summoning a bubble shield out of nowhere?

I think it's pretty realistic, actually. People come to worship a concept like, for instance, "logic", then can't bring themselves to accept anything that contradicts it. To do as much would destroy their security blanket. Nothing's logical about what Dr. Maheswaran's seeing; that's exactly the point. Since "logic" and "science" are the frameworks she's operating within, asking her to accept anything incompatible with those two frameworks doesn't go over well. It's like if an angel-wings, halo and all-walks into the home of a committed atheist. He'll probably accept any other explanation first. "Oh, it's probably a cosplayer! Oh, I'm being pranked! Oh, it's gotta be some combination of practical lighting effects and highly advanced robotics that make these glowing wings look as real as they do."

My oldest is 17 currently and throughout his life we've been very open about drinking alcohol and the dangers associated with them to the point where when we have something to drink - which I think the last time now was 2 years ago for me and longer for other adults in the house - we let him and his younger brother try a sip if they want. Both have hated everything they've tried and the oldest has stated his intention to never drink when he's old enough due to the taste alone.
