For anyone wondering, the Galveston Island streetcars are modified counsel crest line car designed originally in the 1910s. The cars you see here were built in 1980-1990 by the Gomaco Trolley Company.

I agree that a lot of the homes are beautiful motion from deep back to the town being rebuilt in 1911 after the completion of the Galveston wall, which to this day the town’s first defense against hurricanes in the early 1900s before the war was built a massive hurricane destroyed the entire town the wall along with the historic hotel Galvez hotel (which is the massive giant pink building right next to the beach) were completed in 1911 I would highly recommend staying at a hotel, Galvez, it’s full of historical facts, as well as a Ghost tour I remember the security guard saying don’t forget to take pictures for the ghost hang around or they will drain your phone battery funny, I found that out the hard way I could’ve swore. I took some pictures the next minute I accidentally wash my old, flip phone in the washing machine all my contacts gone, that was like my high school senior vacation with my family

It's wonderful that the service was restored after so many years of suspension. However, these cars should not be referred to as "trolleys" since they are not powered by electricity from overhead wires. Being powered by diesel motors makes them closer to buses that run on rails or diesel locomotives used for passenger transport. The motors sound very loud in the video but it may be because the microphones recording the video are very close to the motors? The cars are very attractive, nevertheless. The video photography is excellent and absolutely beautiful. It makes it seem as if we are actually riding in the streetcar. The car appears to be gliding along very smoothly despite the noisy motor(s).

I rode in one of Galveston's streetcars about a year ago and I can tell you that sadly the motor noise is actually that loud, I could hardly hear the person right next to me. I hope they find a way to dampen the sound because it really takes away from a nice experience.

@@nschmidt9055 Thanks so much for your reply. I'm glad you got to experience riding the cars and I also hope they do something about the noise.

There used to be another train from Houston to Galveston and back a long time ago, when most of Houston had downtown rail on almost every street...called the interurban. Houston also had one of the first monorails in the 50's, but when public airlines progressed rapidly it kind of lost it's appeal and use, and of course the interstate highway system was under way.

@@andrewc5476That would be great! I have some ideas about improving Galveston's downtown area. We should stay in contact, I actually just got back to the US recently so maybe we can put some of these thoughts into action.
