@@AhmetSabriUzunpostalc Take beltway 8 south, then take the I45 South entrance. Once you're on I45, you go straight into Galveston. The Bishop's Palace and other major sites are on the street that I45 turns into. It's Broadway Street. If you want to go the Strand, make a left turn off of Broadway at 28th Street. It will take you right to it. If you want to get to the seawall, take the 61st Street exit and turn right on 61st. That will take you directly to the seawall.

I live here and spent last weekend on the Strand for Dickens. An old classmates from school, works on the Alyssa. Saw her last weekend too, selling Christmas wreaths from the volunteers who take care of the ship. Grew up running the beaches of Galveston and walk on them often to get exercise. Good food places too and just welcomed about 600,000 bikers in Nov. for the Lonestar Rally. Come and enjoy this city.

They aren't that far from each other. San Antonio and Houston are about 200 miles apart. However, they all deserve several days of sightseeing and amusement parks. San Antonio has Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Not to mention The Alamo and the Riverwalk. Our Missions are now a designated World Heritage Site. Plus many other things to see and do: art museums, history museums, botanical garden, aquariums, etc.

Wow, they still run the trolley's? Awesome! I rode the trolley as a kid. I've been back to Galveston several times in recent years, but even though I always saw the trolley tracks still present, I never saw the trolley running. I was beginning to think they stopped running them. Did you go for a ride on the Colonel? It's the paddle wheeler shown at the end of your video. Long ago, the Colonel used to dock next to the Elissa. After Moody Gardens was built, the Colonel was relocated and became one of the Moody Gardens attractions. Another fun "attraction' is the ferry that takes you over the Port Bolivar. It's operated and maintained by the state. You can park and walk if you don't want to drive your car on. There is no charge. You get a good view of Seawolf Park and its distinctive pavilion Unless it's been demolished by now. It was in pretty bad shape last time I saw it and was roped off. Loved your video as always!

My family used to visit Galveston in the '60s and '70s - staying at a motel along the beach. The routine when leaving and getting into the car was to dangle your legs out over the edge of the car, while mother washed the tar balls off the soles of your feet in a plastic basin. Oddly, I didn't nearly drown in the Gulf - it was in the motel swimming pool. I was barely older than a toddler, went down the slide and caught a mouth full of water. Not quickly coming up, a seemingly huge man grabbed me by both arms, and swooped me onto the pool deck. My father is pretty much like: "walk it off kid: sputter all of that water on out... " 😧

And look up the video called " Kappa Weekend in Galveston". Shame in that it could be a very nice place ....if they cleaned it up and removed the ghettos

Unless you are a "misery" tourist out to see people living in poverty and desperation while their leaders take away every good reason to live in Texas, it isn't worth the trip. It is a great way to see the "third-world" for those without passports or airfare though.
