you should use a pen laser, it lights up the inside of rock. and the small rocks have different weights, pick up white jade in one hand, green jade in the other, if you can feel weigh, you will feel the difference. I have been hunting rocks since 8 yrs old am now 65, I have studied crystallography, geology, mineralogy, an have studied at gia, through the yrs. I have picked up many ways to distinguish different ways to tell what is under the crust of a rock, what i give you here is a fraction, of weight to tell the different gems underneath. May your deity walk with you every day of your lives.

yes, they do all that, but opaqueness is not always a clue to inner quality. the lower grade stone can cover or mask some nice stone inside. they also measure its volume by water displacement and then density by weight for volume. despite the best appraisal, it's a judgement call by the experts and still buyers are left with worthless stone or a treasure
@gaurtaukwhiteangel57795 жыл бұрын
@@pauls5745 yes I know about specific gravity, I hold certificates from GIA in diamond grading, an colored stone grading, I also do carving an Lapidary, am fluent in crystallography, mineralogy, an geology, been doing most of this since I was 8 years old, am now 65

With so much technology available nowadays, I can't believe that there isn't a method to determine the stone's composition.
@BleedingLiar174 жыл бұрын
I agree, it's baffling
@kickassvideos5469 Жыл бұрын
I think even with very primitive techniques you can know if at least something is inside the stone. Just put the stone in a full bucket of water, the water spilled will be the volume of the stone, then you compare the weight of the stone with the volume to get the density, if the density differes frrom the one of stone you know there is something inside.

The reason for this is usually its historical significance in the East and its usage back then. Jade is worth much more than Gold solely because of the wealthy's love for it and giving it a symbolism for it. Hence the saying along the lines of "Gold has a price, but Jade is priceless".
