The AI attacks when you have a smaller military. That's it. You could be the most hyper-diplomatically awesome person ever. But if they don't see a large enough military at your border, it's all-in for them.

Man, I learned so much from watching this. I play 2 difficulties from deity, start with liberty, get the free worker, then go tradition. After 1 or 2 starting techs I go for Stonehenge, then a settler, then pyramids, then maybe hanging gardens, then mausoleum, colossus if I have a coastal city, then oracle. I settle cities 6 or 7 tiles away despite never growing large enough to work all its tiles, then I pay huge amounts to connect my cities and slowly work the tiles with the three free workers from liberty and the pyramids. I don't bother with national college for quite a while and usually by all this I'm so far behind with my bad decisions that it's almost pointless with continuing, lol. Occasionally I do manage to catch up and rocket ahead but it's pretty tough until then. Best score I've ever got is something like 3300-3500. I see now I'm doing so much wrong that it's painful. edit: that was hilarious commentary too, it was funny how random armies kept amassing on the sides and how attila made peace 10 turns in after you paid him 15 a turn. then you still had to pay him for an extra 20 turns afterward, lol. good stuff.

Man, I'm such a noob that I play mostly on Prince, AND I like to build all the Wonders. But even I can see why that game start won't work xD

@@Tatherwood lol, I go months between playing spurts and recently started again. I now start with tradition, then liberty for the free worker then complete tradition. I rush stonehenge then pyramids then go for education. Cities are now settled 5 to 6 tiles away so there's overlap. Science buildings are started as soon the tech is researched and writers/artists/musicians are also started right away. Industrialization is rushed, then dynamite then war is declared on whoever, lol. Crossbows then gatling guns then artillery are usually enough to fight until great war infantry start to be made. It's pretty easy to win now, probably move up a difficulty level soon. Grow your cities early and try not to depend solely on trade for happiness, otherwise you might get cut off and end up in the red. Before I wasn't really trading and could only manage 6-9 pop for my cities, it was such a terrible strategy, lol.

I love how in part 1 you said playing tower defense made the game stale but Montezuma had other plans. Btw, influence definitely can go over 150 (I've had over 250), it's the liberation influence cap as you suggested.

Ai doesn't shoot generals. Also, generals have 3 hits to everything short of bombers, who one shot them.

50% more scientists, which will probably be around 9 scientists across a game. Plus the artists, writers, musicians.

Yeah but AI are not that simple. They never want to trade lux for lux. It's quite annoying really

@@vaynehellsing7957 Unless they changed it, they do. IF they have dupes as well, they go for a 1-1 trade no problem. Unless they dislike you or something. I've had a Civ that hated me (after THEY declared war on ME) wanting 3 luxes I only had 1 of, plus some Gold, for 1 dupe they had. But that's not the norm.

couldn't you just have peaced montezuma and he would have had to make peace with belgrade too since it was your ally? or is that different to the vanilla game in one of your mods

Montezuma wasn't accepting peace. He wanted like all of Filthy's cities for peace.

JasonV12 He would accept white peace with belgrade as filthys ally. If the ai offers peace to you for whatever cost they always take white peace.

@@Tatherwood "white peace" is essentially shorthand for _status quo peace,_ in other words it means the war ends without either side making concessions, but both sides get to keep whatever it is that they were able to take *during* the war.

@@HeyImLucious So...in the context of this game, offering peace, demanding peace, and NOTHING else? No money, no cities, no nothing. Just "end the war".
