I feel like a proud parent seeing Balatro up there. I discovered it through the demo on PS+ and immediately bought it, lost many hours. I didnt expect it do win GOTY but im so happy it had its moments in the spotlight.

I love the fact no one questions Balatro's spot on game of the year nominees. A small game made by a single developer previously unknown, yet so good that Wukong is the underdog on the list.

@@amezzeray2 To be honest, I didn't play it either. I will get there at one point. Thing is, I can't say the game is bad because 1: I didn't play it yet. 2: if the game was nominated to quite a few awards than it's a clear indication that the game is really good and I'm missing out. Add the fact I heard barely to any negative review and only heard of Wukong's shortcomings than Balatro is doing something really special.

@@FrostedMike yeah reason wukong lost is IGN, i think tho, i im just asuming here so dont take my word for it, but companies like IGN has a mucher higher voting than us gamers, they have 80%, and we all remember how IGN crashed out on wukong because there was aparently no females in the game, yeah yeah and chapter 4 does 100% not exist involving alot of women... i platinumed astro bot just so i could see if it really did deserve the win and i'll be honest, it was not bad at all, it was fun and really cool mechanics, it does 100% deserve a spot on the game awards, but game of the year? no... no, well it must just be me whos not that much into platformers anymore, mario will always have a spot in my heart tho, that man carried my childhood alongside little big planet

Massive props to every game that got nominated. It was definitely a close race. Balatro was the developers first ever game, Wukong was the players choice winner, and Erdtree was such a good dlc it was nominated for goty. I just wish there was more spots for nominees, like helldivers, nine sols, zenless, and many more. But this year was excellent and i cant wait for next year.

Well, they would have to for the camera angles. There is still the screen for the audience to view it on and that might be better to look at in some cases quite honestly. They might be getting in the way but it seems like it necessary so that they can get the camera angles.

I wish they’d used one of Uematsus themes for rebirth rather than the modern forgettable orchestra stuff they added. That game had the best soundtrack but was easily the weakest sample here.

@Lanaur No it’s not. It takes some of the main theme for sure but it’s a new orchestral piece based on it, like I said forgettable. That was the main problem with rebirth, everything they changed or added wasn’t as good quality as what was already there.

@@jaybee4288 Well, if we are talking about pure sound quality, it is way better than before. Now if you prefer the old style, I can't argue as I'm a bit of the same opinion. Real instruments don't always have the charm that synthetic instruments can have sometimes. But this is the TGA orchestra here, they have to go with an orchestral arrangement. Astrobot or Ballatro aren't originally orchestral either (though they did sound awesome, to me). So it is a Uematsu theme, just a different arrangement of it

Personally, Astro Bot was my game of the year, but I think Wukong deserved it just as much. On the bright side, it took home Players’ Voice, which I think is the most important award due to it being 100% fan-voted.
