As a video editor for a big channel, this is one of the biggest updates OBS has ever gotten. Having timestamps embedded in recordings in a non-destructive way that doesn't require workarounds is MASSIVE. I really can't say enough how jazzed I am that they finally found a way to implement this. It will radically improve my workflows.

I've been using a plugin called InfoWriter to log key moments, but I'm very happy this feature is now native to OBS :)

I tried to use the Replay Buffer to catch moments in streams and this will be a big difference maker since I won't need to guess how long to buffer. Especially for challenge videos with multiple attempts and trying to find the good moments or attempts.

I'm most excited about the "Hybrid MP4" thing. (Basically a Fragmented MP4 until the last second, for recoverability, and then at the end of the recording session, it's quickly converted into a non-fragmented, regular old MP4 for compatibility with more software. If recording got interrupted by a system crash, then the Fragmented file is still usable. Can be manually remuxed to standard MP4 if you want the wider software compatibility, and better seeking in some apps. It's really the best things about using Fragmented and normal MP4.) I also really do appreciate the random bug-fixes, it all starts to add up to jus a nicer experience. "Just works" more. Nice!

scrubbing is one of the major hurdles for me in getting myself to edit but adding markers. This is excellent news.

I haven't recorded anything in ages mostly because I can't effectively edit anything without doing some weird shenanigans, but when I did lack of markers in OBS Studio bothered me a lot. Great to see that finally getting implemented.

As I'm researching a plugin to do this. lol. Finally, I don't have to use the wave audio portion to look at a marker because sometimes my videos are nine hours long and it takes forever in Davinci resolve for it to show up as waveform. It could take up to three hours.

I hope in the future you can choose which colour the marker is, and have hotkeys for different colours (along with names) so I can see at a glance what kind of marker I made and not have to look at the name of them (or just have it be unnamed)

The packet priority issue for AV1 to YT seemed to start around the time the dynamic bitrate adjustment got reworked. I had stopped using dynamic bitrate adjustment before that when I changed my ISP and didn't struggle with bandwidth anymore. But after experiencing quite regularly zero bitrate randomly, I turned the new dynamic bitrate on and haven't had it happen since. Nice to see a fix for that as I suspected it was an OBS issue and not ISP but couldn't tell for sure.

I hope they add a chapters feature to Premiere Pro import from Hybrid MP4. As I am unsure that chapter will work properly or not. This could save me hours of editing time for long gameplay. As I can mark when I died or something.

Oh boy! Chapter markers are huge. The last feature I want now is the ability to label files based on current game. They've gotten everything else on my wishlist of features by now, it's just that one left after chapter markers.

The markers are really good as I use OBS to capture my talking head A roll audio since its just so much easier. The markers will make it great to break up segments of your video, easier to focus on sections of videos with takes. Since you can just sync the file to the video footage from the camera, actually awesome. Any ideas if the AV1 stream to Twitch is getting more support?

Will this work with Vegas edit? Anyone know? This seems like a feature I needed but didn't know about. I currently go silent for a second, say a specific word, silence again... then do a retake or whatever. I am now familiar with how that audio looks when editing and can go to that spot pretty accurately. Being able to click a hotkey and have it marked for me would be much less kludgy.

I used to have a separate channel with a max volume 1khz tone to do this, now that it’s native people will start long recording sessions more often because nobody wanted to make a hotkey to do my idea.

For some reason Chapter markers are not showing in Premiere or in Davincy. While they can be shown in VLC player. Anyone had this same issue? It's driving me nuts! xD

MKV is *technically* safer for recovery but most people will be fine with hybrid mp4

Hi buddy. I have a major issue. what setting im I to use when I want to live stream and record at the same time in AV1 on AMD 7900XTX in OBS. I have my streaming video encoder set to AMD HW AV1. And recording video encoder to AMD HW AV1. But as soon as I press record the stream bit rate tanks to like 100bits instead of 50000 that its set to. not sure if its something Im doing or OBS..lol. can you help? :)

From what I’ve been told and experienced, the max for the total bitrate for all streams is around 12mbps right now

I'm waiting for AV1 to get to Twitch since last year. This is the only thing holding me back grom GPU upgrade to have access to the encoder. I would be glad if your upcoming AV1 video would show how to get access to it (or does it just work out of the box with beta obs and right gpu?).

Twitch does not support AV1 right now. That part of the Enhanced beta hasn't started yet.

Mine kept doing the packet loss it was highly annoying. Only during HLS though so that may be a different issue with my isp.
