Really great video! Don't worry about not having much to say about the gameplay. Most people analyze the trailer from a gameplay perspective, so there's not much new to add. But you're the only one who puts so much emphasis on the graphics and visuals, really breaking down why something looks the way it does beyond just 'this looks pretty.' Keep up the good work, I'll be looking forward to More bleach analysis whenever they give us more.

I remember back when Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm was announced for PS3 and i thought, "holy S&^%t, this going to change anime based games forever" - and proceeded to buy a PS3 to play it Then it basically stagnated, outside of a highlight or two. Now i'm looking at this new Bleach and grinning that finally, somebody may have taken on the challenge to blur the line between game and manga/anime again

I had a similar experience as you! This time I'm really, truly impressed. Fighter Z was excellent, but this new Bleach game shows what a difference of 6 years of technological advancement can make for artist expression.

This game takes a lot of stuff from the source material even minor details. For example with uryu the way he shoots his bow kneeling in the start of his trailer is how he shoots his bow the first time we ever see it. The way he shoots the bow standing at the end of the trailer is how he shoots his bow in soul society. I think the times in the trailer where the cloths are properly animated are more like cutscenes so treated almost as if they’re pre-rendered. I assume they key framed those cloth movements rather than it being up to the physics engine.

Those are great observations. Uryu is my favorite Bleach character so seeing this much attention to detail is just impressive and inspiring. Keyframe animating those clothes in the way that they are shown would be such an overwhelming task. I myself would never even attempt it as it would be an absurdly tedious task and is borderline psychological torture!

@@sungrandstudiosmaybe key frame is the wrong word I’m don’t have any expertise on this subject but the physics in the cutscene-like bits are done differently to the ones during gameplay. The bankai transformation is identical every time so the way the coat moves will be the same every time unlike in open gameplay. On the note of them having massive attention to detail on referencing the source material I’m not sure how you’d feel about this but it feels like they aren’t adamant about implementing all the characters canon techniques. For the new yoruichi and urahara trailers, though they didn’t show us the full movesets they’ve done made up moves for them rather than the ones they use in the manga. It’s a different aspect to the animations and visuals. Just feels like they stopped trying perfectly adapt the manga like they did for ishida.

Honestly even if it doesn't have a big story, I think I will really enjoy it. Maybe I'm spoiled by other games but I want a huge roster.

Always entertaining learning a dev perspective. Now that I think about it. I think I've never seen a game with 3d and 2d art styling on animation with the face. Though I think guilty gear strive has done that to but with 2 models. Higher quality on close up, lower quality on gameplay fight. Very talented ideas these devices do. I think also Bleach rebirth of souls has that to. Cause there face shape changes alot. Like here 12:12 you can see old classic ichigo face. Though the hair looks crazy weird doesn't look like him on this shot But the hair pieces is hidden by some kind of blur, which is very interesting cause what you only see is the highlighted strands ends of the hair around

In case you haven't heard, there's 25 minutes of gameplay for Rebirth. I have it on my channel without my commentary, just the japanese. Or i believe other streamers have videos as well with their commentary.

Still feels like you're talking about this more as a fan but I appreciate the details you're providing. I'm honestly kinda cold to this game. There's something about it kinda following the concept and design of other Anime Arena Fighters while just using a lot of obfuscating terms for other gameplay concepts that leaves me kinda cold to the game. I hope it hits the mark for the general fanbase though and hopefully gets more Bleach games made down the road.

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of arena fighters. They have a button mashy quality that isn't that interesting to me. I'll try this game before I form my opinion of the gameplay. Thanks for watching!

I feel like the UI is a bit much I think they should very lightly shrink the gauges and I think the character images near health should be colorised

It seems they are pulling a sparking zero when it comes down to each trailer gets updates here and there! We might just be looking at an late alpha for all we know!

Didn’t notice the lack of cloth physics until you pointed them out in the first video. Even in the rukia one it doesn’t feel ideal to me. For the examples you gave where it was better I think those are more like cutscenes so almost treated as pre rendered. Like instead of physics in engine they would be key framed.
