I know there’s allot of people that hate the Fromsoftware-ification of the ARPG. But for me it’s the only genre I truly love outside of fighting games. That complex back and forth between enemy AI that’s sophisticated and dangerous. Working my up to bosses that take me hours to potentially beat. Finding a new great sword to use. Being able to parry enemies till their posture gives out. To me it’s a class of its own. Outside of Fromsoftware Lies of P is probably my favorite Souls like. And in general games like Stellar Blade that pull from the genre heavy are more fun than what you’d find in something from CDPR or Ubisoft.

I wouldn’t say the only, or the good one. It’s more like the old Ubisoft, consistently developing nice games that we can all expect to be interesting at least. But it still not as good as old rockstar or modern larian where (almost) every game is a blockbuster and mind-blowing innovative. So I’d say fromsoftware is more like an old friend, you may not expect it to always make great ones, but when everything else sucks, you can still turn back to its embrace.

I'm 33, being playing videogames has far as I can remember, and I can surely say that Sekiro has the best, most rewarding, addicting and precise combat system. Is pure perfecetion, it feels like a dance. No way to cheese bosses, no builds, no OP weapons, just you and the controller, getting better attempt after attemp. When this games clicks, it's pure perfection.

With the exception of Armored Core, FromSoft's action games are heavily influenced by Capcom, Konami, and ocarina of time. Although Capcom action games such as Devil May Cry were also heavily influenced by Ocarina of Time.

But, Capcom translated 2D arcade action game design into 3D, so they can't compare to FromSoft. Rediseigned action combat? there are 20-year-old games like Destrega or Pirate of the Black Cat or Rocket Shockem Robot Arena PS1 era, that have better action combat then most games today. SMITE 12 years ago. watch the King's Avatar animation. Spamming dodge for immunity frames like Elden ring or New world does is barely a innovative form of action combat. Beside many of these big franchises have so much potential but they are simply not using it. @@GamingDualities I used to think so. After finishing all their games, I really can't wait for any news from their next game. They are not perfect. Their engine and graphics fidelity have big issues. They don't even try to make their in-game dialogs cinematic, but the important thing in a game is the overall experience and gameplay
