After this episode aired, I Googled what would happen if you poured molten gold on someone's head. Kinda wished I hadn't. It wouldn't kill you right away. It would burn away all the skin and hair, but not the bone. The heat would boil all the liquid in your skull, steaming out all the orifices and popping out your eardrums and eyes. You would GRADUALLY die over several minutes, but not feel anything as your brain would no longer be functioning such that it could detect pain.

The actor who plays Joffrey is such a nice guy in real life, it goes to show what a great job he did with the character. You should probably lay off goading his physical appearance to such an extent in my opinion. If it was a female actor you wouldn't focus on that so much. There's plenty characteristics of him in how he behaves as Joffrey to analyse

Fun Fact: Viserys’s death is seemingly inspired by the death of a historical figure, Marcus Crassus. Like Viserys, Crassus bit off a little more than he could chew and when he tried to negotiate he got molten gold poured down his throat to “quench his thirst for gold.” Mind you the sources for this execution are unreliable but it’s a good story.

When the gold was half-melted and starting to run, Drogo reached into the flames, snatched out the pot. "Crown!" he roared. "Here. A crown for Cart King!" And upended the pot over the head of the man who had been her brother. The sound Viserys Targaryen made when that hideous iron helmet covered his face was like nothing human. His feet hammered a frantic beat against the dirt floor, slowed, stopped. Thick globs of molten gold dripped down onto his chest, setting the scarlet silk to smoldering … yet no drop of blood was spilled. He was no dragon, Dany thought, curiously calm. Fire cannot kill a dragon.

A fair criticism could be like "oh you could work on your posture. your weight." etc. Not "oh you could work on your height, your eye color, your chin or cheek structure"...

I wish we got more of Beric Dondarrion. The guy is a total badass and most of what we learn of him in the books is word of mouth legend. Any man who takes 100 guys and then leads them against the might of the Cleganes and Lannisters... and survives (spoiler) is worthy of mad respect. The actor here sells it too because he only gets that one scene but when Ned calls him he steps up with a stern swagger and just drops 'As you command', and if you know who this guy is it totally fits the character. Exceptionally underrated moment.

Usually I find reactors through GoT and branch out into their other content, but with y'all it was an enjoyable Breaking Bad and now we're here into another masterpiece. Loving the reactions so far. Ned and Robert were basically raised together as wards to Jon Arryn in the Vale. They basically grew up there so he was legit a father to both of them: Ned as the 2nd son to his father (and therefore not the heir to Winterfell), Robert (who was heir to Storm's End, his family's ancestral seat) basically as way to strengthen alliances between the Vale and the Stormlands. Also really recommend the Histories and Lore videos after each season. The Season 1 version being really helpful in providing the backstory for Season 1's main characters.

so a summery on Viserys, Viserys ended up the way he did because he lost his mom young, never knew his father's insanity and genuinely believed the Usurper's rebellion was based on lies. He had to take care of Dany alone, even though he was just a kid himself. Growing up in hiding made it worse-everyone in Essos only pretended to respect him, stringing him along with fake promises just in case the Targaryens came back into power to use him as a bargaining chip, They made fun of him made empty promises about helping him while housing him before throwing them out and he became known as "The Begger King", When he had to sell their mother’s crown, it broke him. After that, he wasn’t just bitter; he turned cruel and angry.

my ONE complaint with this episode is the way the writers just straight up ignore real life in Vicerys' execution: a wood burning fire by itself can achieve maybe 1100 degrees F. In order to melt gold, you need 1947 degrees F. Drogo putting that belt in the pot WOULD NOT have melted it, NO WAY......

In the book there is a fantastic and beutifully written dream sequence between the scene at the end of episode 5 and the beginning of this episode and its such a shame that they cut it becauise not only is it an amzing scene but it gives context clues to the central mystery of Jons identity. Anyway, it doesnt really detract from the quality of the season but dreams are an important aspect of ASOIAF that the show never really dares comit to.

Robert and Ned spent time in the Vale when they were teens. That is why they had a close relationship with Jon Arryn. you find out that Robert has a bastard daughter later on in the books, they just don't touch on it the show.

Say, kids!! Who's everyone's favorite King (moviewise)? I know, I know...ya'll prolly think I'm gonna say gonna say, Kenneth Brannaugh from Henry da fif... And that speech at the Battle of Agincourt,,,Magnificent! One of the finest speeches ever to speech.... But I gotta admit....my fave is...Hans Delbrook...no...Mel Brooks in History Of The World Part I.... "It's good to be da King".... speaking of speeches...favorite speech? anyone?? anyone?? I have to go with either the Riddle of Steel in Conan The Barbarian or the famous one from Charlie Chaplin in The Great Dictator... ehhh...Gotta go with Chaplin on that now that I think of it... So inspirational....and currently apropos....

If Dany couldn't keep the heart down, it meant the baby wouldn't be worthy and turn out sick/deformed, that's how it's explained in the book

You know, Sansa really suffers from not seeing the story through her perspective as we do in the book. They even cut out her best friend. No wonder she is annoying when all we see of her is her gushing over Joffrey.

Yeah ikr. Game of Thrones isn't an overly complicated show, not any more complicated than anything else they've watched. The note taking is just unnecessary imo

The characters in this show are so complex, that a man can slap the hell out of his wife, and you actually are like “yeah, she’s deserves it” lol.
