The actor who plays Joffrey is such a nice guy in real life, it goes to show what a great job he did with the character. Fun Fact: Viserys’s death is seemingly inspired by the death of a historical figure, Marcus Crassus. Like Viserys, Crassus bit off a little more than he could chew and when he tried to negotiate he got molten gold poured down his throat to “quench his thirst for gold.” Mind you the sources for this execution are unreliable but it’s a good story.

When the gold was half-melted and starting to run, Drogo reached into the flames, snatched out the pot. "Crown!" he roared. "Here. A crown for Cart King!" And upended the pot over the head of the man who had been her brother. The sound Viserys Targaryen made when that hideous iron helmet covered his face was like nothing human. His feet hammered a frantic beat against the dirt floor, slowed, stopped. Thick globs of molten gold dripped down onto his chest, setting the scarlet silk to smoldering … yet no drop of blood was spilled. He was no dragon, Dany thought, curiously calm. Fire cannot kill a dragon.

Any man who takes 100 guys and then leads them against the might of the Cleganes and Lannisters... and survives (spoiler) is worthy of mad respect. The actor here sells it too because he only gets that one scene but when Ned calls him he steps up with a stern swagger and just drops 'As you command', and if you know who this guy is it totally fits the character. Usually I find reactors through GoT and branch out into their other content, but with y'all it was an enjoyable Breaking Bad and now we're here into another masterpiece. Loving the reactions so far. Ned and Robert were basically raised together as wards to Jon Arryn in the Vale. They basically grew up there so he was legit a father to both of them: Ned as the 2nd son to his father (and therefore not the heir to Winterfell), Robert (who was heir to Storm's End, his family's ancestral seat) basically as way to strengthen alliances between the Vale and the Stormlands. Also really recommend the Histories and Lore videos after each season. The Season 1 version being really helpful in providing the backstory for Season 1's main characters.

so a summery on Viserys, Viserys ended up the way he did because he lost his mom young, never knew his father's insanity and genuinely believed the Usurper's rebellion was based on lies. He had to take care of Dany alone, even though he was just a kid himself. Growing up in hiding made it worse-everyone in Essos only pretended to respect him, stringing him along with fake promises just in case the Targaryens came back into power to use him as a bargaining chip, They made fun of him made empty promises about helping him while housing him before throwing them out and he became known as "The Begger King", When he had to sell their mother’s crown, it broke him. After that, he wasn’t just bitter; he turned cruel and angry.

my ONE complaint with this episode is the way the writers just straight up ignore real life in Vicerys' execution: a wood burning fire by itself can achieve maybe 1100 degrees F.
