This is my favorite episode of the entire franchise. Peter Dinklage delivered everything in this episode, monstrous acting, masterful dialogue and a huge leap in development for Tyrion as a character.

@@MrMeddyman Spoilers dude. Don’t do that. And before you say “it’s not a spoiler” yes it is. Saying Tyrion is alive in season 7 and 8 let’s her know that Tyrion won’t die. If she reads this, boom, no fear for Tyrions life, the trial by combat will have no teeth. Don’t be a dummy just cuz you can’t resist talking shit on the final seasons. That being said I agree with you, but STFU.

That violin music when Shae arrives was played during Sansa’s and Tyrion’s Wedding night. It’s beautiful; what does it mean? Notice that every time Oberyn is seated, his body language shows that he is disinterested. But after Tyrion’s epic speech, his nonverbals show the opposite! Like a 180 degree turn in his behavior! Peter Dinklage should have won an Emmy!

That was really Tywin's main motivation in going along with the show trial. He didn't kill Joffrey, but in Joffrey's death he saw an opportunity to get Jaime out of King's Landing and have him start a family, aka the conversation they had at the start of the season. He calculated Jaime will fold under pressure to save his brother. It was all going along so smoothly until Tyrion threw a wrench in his plan and now it's going to be an absolute insane whirlwind of a ride.

I remember this...so powerful. Dinklage is incredible here. I wasn't shocked to see Shae at all though. She put him in danger since he brought her, even though he kept telling her to be careful. Little pockets of the North are still occupied by the Iron Born from the time of Theon's invasion during the War of the 5 Kings. From Roose and Ramsay's conversation a few episodes ago, the viewer is told that those Iron Born are mostly concentrated in Moat Cailin. The Boltons can't enter Winterfell and claim their seat as the Wardens of the North until Moat Cailin is cleared out. Ramsay's plan is to take over Moat Cailin by using Theon to his advantage. Once the remaining Iron Born are flushed out, the North is effectively Boltons'.

The episode titles often have multiple meanings within the episode. Case in point: "A Golden Crown" - referred to both the molten gold Viserys was "crowned" with, and the "golden crowns" (hair) of Cersei's children that Ned then realized meant that they were Jaime's bastards.

This was the best scene of GoT in my honest opinion, Peter Dinklage deserves all the awards for this scene alone. Shae betraying Tyrion was so unexpected, he was saving her whenever he asked her to go away and get away from the hellhole called King's Landing but in the end she betrayed him. The Rains of Castamere sounds so good, sadly it belongs to a shit house called Lannister, also you should read the back-story of Rains of Castamere, it exactly depicts how ruthless Tywin Lannister is.

27:42 See that’s the thing, they aren’t lies. Not counting Shae, 95% of the witness testimonies are completely true. Tyrion did strike Joffrey (more than once), he has threatened Joffrey (both implied and directly), he did tell Cersei the thing about “knowing the debt is paid,” he did tell Bronn to kill Ser Meryn if he spoke, etc… It’s all true. The trick is that they lack context, which could justify or at least explain why Tyrion did what he did. Without that, it just looks like he did a bunch of antagonistic stuff. Given that his disdain for Joffrey wasn’t exactly a secret, all that bad blood being aired out paints a very believable picture of Tyrion finally snapping.

Daenerys is calling herself khaleesi of the great grass sea yet she clearly isn´t, neither has she any claim, as Khal Drogo never ruled all of it either. You can see her hubris early on, I think she did a bad job in the slavers bay and the threats she spewed at the spice trader in Quarth as well as her crucifixion of the wise masters regardless of their involvement in the crime they were killed for clearly shows her mad violent side. Also the trial was just heartbraking!

This really plays off of the last episode on her believing she’s correct on treating injustice with only justice that is like revenge or vengeance. And how she believes she is right. I love Dany but I do not agree with her at times. I absolutely LOVE Jamie and his arc, I love that he’s the only one who ever truly loved his brother- even shay was able to betray Tyrion and Jamie never had. Tyrion was PHENOMENAL in up doing his father, demanding a trial by combat was him throwing the judgment back into his fathers face. Amazing. Love the scene it’s chilling and amazing. It would be so cool if Pedro could have a scene Emelia at some point.

This Tyrion scene is his masterpiece. I suffer with him and cry with you when Shae breaks his heart. I love you being so emotional. But in the begining of the episode, I found your judgement less good than usual : - Dany's "justice" without trial, without proof, without any defense, and executing innocent people as the guilty ones...in my opinion, this is not Justice. - We know Varys doesn't want the throne for himself. He wants peace, he protects the realm, he wants what is good for the people.

Concerning his speech in this episode, Tyrion was addressing the highborn in the courtroom. Stannis would no doubt have executed many lords for treason if he took the city. Tyrion was not talking about the greater poplulation of King's landing, whom Stannis would have no reason to slaughter. But Peter Dinklage's performance here also shows he could have pulled off playing a darker Tyrion. It's a shame they didn't want to go there.

Your reaction to the unfair bullshit towards Tyrion is yet again exactly the same as mine jdjhfjd. Like, we don't really know what happened with Shae... Whether she was revengeful, bribed or threatened... But yes either way, I am angry at her. Even when Tyrion insulted her, she should have known it was to get her to leave for her safety, like you said... What he said might've been vile, but it shouldn't be enough for concluding he deserves to be sentenced to death in the most humiliating way possible... And indeed, even if she was angry at Tyrion, why throw Sansa under the bus? And if she was threatened... Well, that's kind of her fault as well, because again, people kept telling her it's dangerous for her in King's Landing. They told her she's endangering her own wellbeing, as well as that of those around her. And she kept saying "I'm not scared, I'll protect you"... Well, so much for that too.

right... Except she didn't do that. She listened, had compassion, and actually allowed him to bury his father.

Tyrion feared for his life and conspired with Lady Olenna. Sansa knew about it, wanted it. She wanted to marry Loras and the Tyrells wanted to marry Sansa Stark. Olenna used Littlefinger, never said a thing about Tyrion or Sansa being involved, so Sansa could play the innocent with him. Olenna lied to Margaery about it too, of course. Tyrion was framed to be the suspect from the start. He had a motive: he had slapped Joffrey in public and threatened him, he believed Joffrey had tried to have him killed. His being right in the middle of it when it happened just accelerated things. It was not meant to go that way. Both Sansa and Olenna had some of the poison in hand, waiting for a chance to use it. Tyrion couldn't know he would be made Joffrey’s cup-bearer and he would never have planned it this way but Sansa picked up the goblet from under the table. She never cared for Tyrion, had no trouble sacrificing him. She took the occasion to drop the poison in, then left when Joffrey choked. Maybe Olenna did the same. Tyrion had been used, just like Dontos, but he was an active participant in the scheme. Shae wasn't lying at the trial. No one else really was. Meryn Trant and Pycelle had personal fears or grudges and took advantage of the situation. Varys did what he had to to stay in the good graces of the powerful. Tyrion made it look like a farce, pretended to be accused of being a dwarf so he would put a plausible alternative into the room in case he won the trial by combat. He knew he couldn't withstand a closer investigation and probaly hopes to manipulate his brother into fighting for him.
