We knew about Ser Jorah spying on Daenerys for King Robert, it was revealed on one of the small council meetings back in season 1. He got pardoned, that's how he figured they decided to kill Daenerys. And he went ahead and saved her (remember that wine merchant trying to poison her...) and ever since he's been loyal to Daenerys staying by her side helping her even tho he already could've gone home. It's sad and unfortunate Dany had to learn of his past espionage this way. That letter in this episode was most probably Tywin's work -- successfully removing one of Dany's advisors by this move.
