I've never detested a character... or laughed at one so much. He brings in so much comedy to the character, and that's what makes him so magnetic. When he shoots that first arrow at Rickon and it misses - he just gives a little shrug. As if you told him the bus is a minute late. Truly, what a great actor.

If there's one thing everyone agrees on about the later seasons of GoT, it's that the production value, cinematography, acting and all of the technical aspects are practically flawless. Very few shows are able to reach the heights this episode did on a technical level in their entire run.

Acting was always on point anyway, especially looking at the first seasons with Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Diana Rigg, etc... Cinematography has become better obviously but at the cost of good writing unfortunately.

@@Marta-uv4id yeah I call it the payoff season. Season 5: Triggering Season Show was so dark it triggered congresspeople. season focused on taking it to the ultimate extremes of pain/torture. (Meryn Trant, Sansa/Ramsay, Shireen) S6: The Payoff Season Pendulum swings back to the right after massive fan depression in episode 5. Whole season is low IQ audience payoff with no regard for logic or reason. (See piles of bodies in 6x9) Season 7: The Marvel Season Peak of Marvel/GOT popularity, still had a following season so the show-runners couldn’t take risks. Every line is cringy banter, callbacks, or the most predictable line. Season is focused on big budget spectacle with no thought for nuance. S8: The Sunset Season D&D gives 7 middle fingers and rides off into the sunset. Butchering characters they always hated, and giving their favorites sweet endings. They clearly hated Dany and loved Cersei so they each get their respective endings.

@k.v.76817 ай бұрын
@@katearcher8514 By keeping in mind that the only thing that stands between his men and certain death is their already flimsy battle plan. Jon got off wayyyy too easily for this. Any noble from the North with a decent head on their shoulder would never trust Jon in matters of command or rulership after such hotheadedness. There came a point in the show where people had too much modern expectations of the characters, and the writers turned to fanservice rather than keeping to the world's setting. While on the personal level we celebrate Jon's "revenge drive", and it could make sense character-wise, in the context of the world, what we see is an abandonment of his duty as a commander. And there were zero consequences for it. Sansa was also plain moronic by not instructing her brother to delay the battle so that they could actually coordinate with the Vale, instead of plopping them in the script deus ex machina style.

27:20….Little did Ramsey know he just woke the dragon in Jon. Also…Ramsey’s death scene is a call back to the very first episode when Ned be headed the deserter. Jon told Bran to not look away or father will know if you do. Ramsey is Sansa’s first execution so she has to be the one to pass the sentence and she has to “swing the sword.” The dogs were her sword and she didn’t look away. She only sent for them when Jon couldn't get more men because she didn't want Ramsey to survive and she knew Jon was more than likely not going to kill him before dying. Yes she has a right to be angry and vengeful absolutely but she's almost as bad as Ramsey in my opinion. She doesn't have the physical strength to do what Ramsey does but she's manipulative and shady. She also didn't really tell Jon anything of any real use lmao just not to do what Ramsey wants that's not really useful she may as well had told him to make a wish cause that's about as useful as her whining about how Jon needed to do something but not really telling him anything to do lmao useless

Yup glad you caught the Dany parallel inverted. Which is really the difference of the two sides of the targaryen coin. And Jon's coin is landing in the right place. People get hung up over the logistics of this episode. But what really matters is the long road to the payoff, the catharsis you get after getting the rug pulled from under your feet over and over again. What other show will keep the protagonists separated for 7 seasons? the longer the wait, the sweeter it is. The battle is also the theme of the resurrection of winterfell via Jon Snow's own arc. He metaphorically comes out of the womb. The kings of Winter are back in their ancestral seat after years of heartbreak. The stark curse is over.

Director tor Miguel Sapochnik and Kit Harrington did a deep dive on how the trampling scene was a metaphor for the rebirth of Jon. Jon by the time of the battle is a man beaten down by circumstance. His increasingly agitated interactions with the people closest to him is reflective of his inner despondence and self-doubt. This is a man betrayed by his own Brothers. A man who's lost faith.That famous one take of Jon in the field dodging arrows and horses is the height of his resignation to fate. That's the point where he's on auto pilot with a singular purpose to kill or die. Probably the best way to remain alive in a pitched battle, when you've already accepted you're as good as dead. But as the crush starts and he gets buried under a mass of humanity, he's finally forced to slow down. There's a close up of his face looking almost serene, like he's finally at peace with the end. But in this process of letting go he also starts to regain the humanity he had lost after being betrayed. From under the stampede he finds a new desire to live stronger than before, and as he comes up gasping for air, he emerges a man reborn. THIS, is the real Resurrection of Jon Snow. Or as Sapochnik calls it, 'the vaginal birthing shot' lol. It's a parable for the reawakening of The North. The turning point. Jon being raised above the stampede mirrors another similar turning point moment. To S3 finale "Mhysa" where Dany is held aloft the human tide, except the circumstance is turned over its head figuratively and literally. Btw after hearing the slow sad version for so long, the "triumphant reprise" of the Stark theme as they break through the Bolton lines is perfect use of emotive BGM.

Think it through. If she waits for the Knights of the Vale to arrive first, Ramsey doesn't come out to fight at all. And I know Sansa came in clutch but she could’ve told Jon about Littlefinger and The Knight’s of the Vale instead of arguing with Jon about not having enough men the night before the battle. Anyway, one of my favorite episodes and I think it’s an Emmy winning episode, too.

The arguing served two purposes: 1) to goad Jon into attacking. Any sensible commander would abandon the field given how unlikely they were to win. 2) to feed bad intel back to Ramsey. We know Ramsey has spies in Jon's camp because at the parley he knows the size and makeup of Jon's army. Plus he did the same thing with Stannis. Sansa played her role as a hysterical helpless female and gets Jon to admit loudly that they can't win.

@@gunkulator1 You just made that up! But okay, if that’s what you believe. 😂

@@Victoria-kv9oz It's amazing how so many people think season 6 Sansa is the same person as season 1 Sansa. She's become a liar and manipulator. Sansa knows full well that there are no more men to be had because she went with Jon to try to recruit all the houses in the north. She's manipulating Jon, plain and simple. Also, basic military doctrine says you don't tell soldiers things they don't need to know. This is especially true when a plan depends on surprise and deception. Jon didn't need to know about the Vale so he wasn't told and this helped keep the plan secret. Jon acted like a desperately outnumbered commander because that is what he really believed.

All the drama in this episode then Brad eclipses it by dropping the bombshell that he is gay!
