tywin destroys his enemies so that they cannot harry him, while tyrion antagonizes & lulls his enemies...as you say, he could have just killed Littlefinger & Pycelle. i think this mirrors Chella’s thing with her necklace of severed ears. when Chella defeats an enemy, she severs their ear for the purpose of giving that enemy a chance to avenge their ear, making her existence more threatened & sort of badass in a way. so tyrion collects his necklace of ears, leaving his maimed enemies to bite him in the ass later, like Chella....while Tywin would simply kill them all the way to be done with it, like Shagga

Does anyone remember in which episode Schwifto talks about the Foo Fighters playing a surprise concert under a fake name and someone going “I don’t care about the Foo Fighters! I’m here to see the Cheese Mongers. Alright how dumb is pycelle for thinking tywin has even a chance to sit on the throne during the end of roberts rebellion. He has no legitimacy, there's absolutely no way people would see him as their king, especially not the nobles many of whom have at least some targaryan blood, though maybe he does too but i'm rather certain that the baratheons have the best claim of any house. He could maybe usurp the throne, his army is probably the least war weary since the rest of the realm was hard at war with itself, but that means he has to take on the combined forces of roberts alliance and Dorne since he sacked kings landing and murdered their family members. The reach and the iron isles are wildcards I could see them go either way but i lean towards them supporting robert for the simple reason of legitimacy. The cards are completely stacked against tywin ascending to the throne but somehow a wise maester is so naive that he belives that it's a possibility?
