Show-Davos only had 2 or 3 fighting-age sons instead of 7 kids including actual children, and they all died in the Battle of the Blackwater. Apparently this loss caused Davos to forget all about his wife. D&D didn't actually care for the material beyond the Red Wedding, so attention to detail went out the window and we end up with Davos, a man motivated largely by his desire to provide the best possible life for his family, even if that entails galivanting about Westeros for Stannis and risking his life keeping Stannis's frequent loss of perspective in check

I just thought about how I want Jon in the books to just have the most badass Targaryen name ever. Idk something crazy. Just because he has lived as a bastard all his life, even his name is kind of boring compared to people like Daenerys or Sansa or whatever. When he became Lord comander he was Lord Snow, then (in the show) when he becomes DA KING IN DA NORF hes King Jon. I just want him to be like Daemon Targaryen, Daemon Daybreaker or Dawnbringer or some shit. I know he is a humble dude and everything but I really need a whole paragraph of titles that somebody rattles off. We can have Jon be embarassed or sth, but I NEED the titles!

I just stumbled over a fun idea concerning those three attempts with lightbringer. That really also matches Dani, Tyron and Jon as Dani might clash with Euron (Water), Tyrion with his familiy/identity (Lion's heart) and Jon might be successful (through Dani, Mel or even Stoneheart). Sry if this has already been tlaked about. I'm not throught ALL of your content yet. It's much to catch up as I'm rather new to the channel xD

I always wonder: WHY ONIONS? We’re there no apples around, figs, beets or carrots? He couldn’t have brought a couple of freshly killed chickens on board? WHY JUST ONIONS? Onions are nutrient-dense meaning they have a VERY LOW caloric count! They do provide vitamins B & C, potassium and anti/oxidants, which ALL would’ve been very important for starving people. But they could’ve used something with more calories too. Even if he had just brought a couple of rabbits to eat. The onions definitely would’ve helped them live a few more days, but if Lord Eddard had not shown up, who knows how much longer Stannis & his people could’ve held out on just onions. I mean seriously, Davos couldn’t even bring some fresh fish with him? The castle is surrounded by water. He could’ve easily found a spot to for him & his sons to fish for a day so he could’ve been the trout knight or the sea bass knight or the salmon knight or simply the fish knight, which also would’ve connected him to Patches. When he got off that boat, I wouldn’t have wanted to kiss him, I would’ve said you just risked your life so we can add some onions to our human stew? Not one fish? We live next to water seven hells! Cut both his hands off. Lol.

is there like a general consensus on what would be a semi-realistic year that the GOT universe could be equivalent to in our real world? (I mean as a layman I just know it would be several hundred years into the past, at least) because like I wonder how far away they might be from being capable of inventing the printing press. They do seem, within the primary "present day" of the story, to be able to handle the notion of things with complicated gears, there's the giant metal spear shooters that are created in season 7 to fight the dragons. But I barely even qualify as a layman when it comes to engineering, so maybe I'm so far off that it's just a futile consideration.

Alt Swift, I love you, but its insane to compare 1984 to feudalism. Your comparing one social order that uses general soft social pressure as seen in all human societys to one that relentlessly monotors every aspect of its citizens lives and tortures the hell out of them for not fully embracing the ideology of the managerial class in their own private headspace. The entire point 1984 is that technology and a totalitarian social order come together to form something uniquely horrible and new. Davos not really wanting to be a noble when hes been a smuggler most of his life and other nobles sort of vaugly giving him the cold shoulder is human interaction 101. There is no society that isnt 1984 if your going to make such a comparison, which by extension is just saying that the world depicted in 1984 is normal.
