The weirwoods paste changing to a more pleasing taste the more you eat it is exactly like the shade of the evening. When Dany first drinks the shade of the evening it tastes like spoiled meat at first but started to taste better the more she drank it. I don't know what to make of that but its interesting since Dany experiences the magic of the undying right after and Bran experiences the magic of the weirwood right after.

Got the pop-up alert and was trying to watch this on my lunch break, but too many distractions. Very deep and well researched video as always. I don't know how you manage to make these things so fast, but damned if I don't find them intriguing. My husband says "Your fired". You upload a video right before he has to go to work. Now he has to wait 12 hrs till he gets home to watch. He says they upload at night why now when I am going to work. He prefers your videos to the show itself. He not a huge fan of the show or books like I am. I had the books on my self before the show even came out. Great Video again, The two of you have taken these videos to the next level. For the most part I love all the theories but the one I am having trouble buying into is the Weirwood trees being a God. If Ned and Ashara did as you said with Aegon and John Snow and knew about the war to come it makes me think he would know the enemy they would be facing. If it was the Children of the Forest and the Weirwoods then I find it odd that Ned would spend his time sitting by his Weirwood at Winterfell. I can buy into the Children being the real enemy and the fact that Weirwoods are portals, but i don't think it would just be to the underworld or the many faced god. I would think they are portals for all gods good and bad just that some have found ways to abuse the power. Also curious on the pool in the temple of the many faced god, A lot of people speculate that the pool in winterfell is an Ice Dragon (your thoughts?) and is the pool in the temple also an Ice dragon (More of your thoughts ? ) Lastly I am curious if you will cover the stone gargoyles that are on Dragonstone and Winterfell and the stone dragon Bran saw in his dream ? One thing that may disprove your theory that Melisandra being shiera seastar is something the actress said in an interview( looked similar to a comic con panel but it was in France) I think she is shiera that would make a lot of sense but the actress said she was told by the show runners that Melisandra is 280 years old. Mission definitely accepted. I'm hoping to make an in depth study of Lovecraft when my schedule frees up this summer. I haven't read a lot of his work since I was a teenager. I'm hoping to get in touch with an old friend that wrote his dissertation on Lovecraft and pick his brain... then reread a few thousand pages of GRRM. LOL Yeah, lots of work! I don't take for granted what any of the better SoI&F channels put into their videos. One could definitely make an in depth study of eye symbolism and take at least two years just focusing on that, I would imagine. Part of the problem is that there is so much nonsense on the internet, that you have to verify and get the primary sources which are never light reading. Some things you may want to look into are books published by either Brill Academic (Studies in Intellectual History series) or SUNY's series on western esotericism. maybe eventually if we stumble on something that is different than what other theorists have put out, but we don't want to be a channel that repeats what other theorists have already put out there if we agree with their assessment...PJ did a great job breaking them down a few years ago and from what I remember about his breakdown of them, I don't think there is much to add to what he did...the only reason we started this channel to begin with is because no one out there was saying what we thought...it seems a waste of our time and our viewers time for us to be producing content that is identical to what is already out there

I haven't seen all of your videos, so maybe you already came up with it, but have you ever thought about that all weirwood trees could be one giant organism, their roots being a worldwide net, like funguses mycelum, the visible trees just like mushrooms, whilst the greatest part grows deep under the surface? This could be the reason why they can't be killed, why they are all connected, because they are in fact ONE.

I think it's likely that you only need to say 'valar morghulis' to get in and not also show the coin to it. Otherwise how would the common folk who go there to die get in there? OMG this has left me with so many questions!!!! Does Aryas face really change as much as she's told???? Does Aryas telepathy change her face???? Why is Jaquin the only one who seems to be able to completely change his face???? There are differences between Jaquin and Pate. Such as Jaquun doesn't mind being call Pig boy???? Jaqen not caring about being called Pig Boy is because Jaqen doesn't care about anything and him not getting mad at being called that could very easily be viewed as personal growth by smart, intellectually curious men that either are Maesters in training or Maesters or Archmaesters he would be around would be likely to see it that way....the house of black and white is called the house of black and white and the only thing black and white that people see is the doors so it seems like the doors are the trademark of the temple so it stands to reason that they have been there since the beginning

I'm watching through the "recommended order" playlist for the first time and I absolutely love your videos! I don't know if you've already made these connections in a later video but I notice several of the connections you make between Bran and Arya's narratives also apply to Danaerys and her story. Bran tasting the weirwood paste and Arya smelling the House of Black and White both very closely mirror the experience of Danaerys drinking shade of the evening. I'm also reminded of the "inverse weirwoods" with blue leaves and black bark that surround the House of the Undying. Do you think there's a connection between The Undying Ones and the children of the forest? Maybe they're another 'species' of Children local to Qarth?

I have seen you mention the eyes that Jon see several times. I went back and re-read that part, and it appears to me that he saw a shadowcat's eyes. It's in the same paragraph where he describes hearing the shadowcats roar.

A harvest moon isn't necessarily any larger than any other moon, full or not. Were the eyes really that large or is that just Jon's interpretation? The eyes are interesting, for sure, but very open to interpretation. I always interpreted the "spotted" comment to be about Orell's eagle, which had indeed spotted them and was following them. They could not escape it! The men on that mission knew what that eagle was, just like they understood Jon was a warg (after he told them of his wolf dream) even when Jon didn't understand what he was. More interesting is that Qhorin recognized that the tree's have eyes again! Again? Hadn't they always had eyes? Haven't they been watching for millennia?

yes, they traded with the ibbanese and later the seven kingdoms, but the point is they didn't start trading right away, yet the temple is called the house of black and white and it seems to be derived from the doors...also, we have never met a merchant that deals in weirwood...we have met or heard of lots of people who deal in lumber, but weirwood is never mentioned being traded, which seems to indicate the source of their weirwood for their door and chairs is in Essos

It's possible that the source is in Essos, but it's never stated that they didn't trade. There are specifics listed as to how they traded with the rest of the world but still kept their city a secret. The Iron Bank got their money and power through trade before they started banking.

the thing that makes me feel like he is still in the tree is the fact that she saw him...the way it is written, the first 10 times I read it I thought he was in One-Eye, but how could she see him if he's the wolf...it drove me crazy that she could see him, until it occurred to me that once he was absorbed by the tree, he was part of the death god or whatever...it is clear that he died, desperately trying to warg into one of his wolves, because he thought "True death came suddenly; he felt a shock of cold, as if he had been plunged into the icy waters of a frozen lake." That lead us to believe that he was taken by the weirwood, and possibly that small portion of him that was in One-Eye might have still been in One-Eye, like Orrell and his eagle, but the part where he looked through the weirwood at himself dead and twitching on the ground makes me think the tree's face changed like the one in Winterfell to his face like the Winterfell tree changed to Bran's...that would explain how she saw him...the only thing I know for sure is that he died before he could warg into One-Eye or any of his wolves, and she somehow saw him...that was the only way I could think of that that could be the case

the first time I read all five books, I thought the reason the Faceless men recruited Arya, was to send her to Kill Danny Targaryen. Arya and Misandei in the books are the same age, there I think the reason the Prologue of AFFC showed us how jaquen can kill someone and take his face right on the spot without going to the house of black and white. Arya will kill Misandei, takes her face and try to kill Danny! but that was my theory.

Still, there's one thing I don't get: why the Hell, did they *choose Arya?* She's about the *worst disciple* of the many faced god they could have chosen, yet it might well be, that they had their eyes on her ever since she met her Bravosi dancing master... She has no intention of becoming no-one, nor blindly obey orders. She only wants to learn to become an assassin to exact revenge. They surely know, that she would want to run off, as soon as she's ready, to work on her list. She ignored orders, murdered people she wasn't supposed to kill, ran off and killed a member and what does Jaquen do? He smiles at her and pretty much welcomes her back!

Love your videos. I know you two have your views and in some cases pulled me in but how do you feel about N+A=D? there are some strong evidence in the books for this theory. I would love to see your take on it even though I know you believe it =J. I am still split between these to theories.

the problems we have with N+A=D are timeline and Viserys related...according to GRRM, Jon is 8-9 months older than Dany, and Rhaella left KL pregnant with Viserys, meaning Jon was born right around the time of the Battle of the Trident and the Sacking of KL...if that weren't true and Dany was Ned and Ashara's, she would have had to have been conceived when Ned went to Starfall, with Jon being born at the ToJ. if that were the case, how did they convince Viserys he had a baby sister that killed his mother that showed up 9 months after his mother's death...the whole thing gets really messy at that point

there's a large mountain range that separates them...I can't recall if they ever did fight with one another, but I'd imagine that large natural barrier limited their exposure to each other
