@@DutchMadness77 the brotherhood without banners predates Beric Dondarion and Thoros of Myr. It even predates Robert Baratheons rule as king. During a scene in season 1 Jamie Lannister is asked by King Robert who the first person he killed was. Jamie answers "one of the outlaws from the brotherhood" Baristan Selmy who was also present reminisces that Jamie was only a squire at the time. Given that at the time he killed Arys Targaryan Jamie was an anointed knight and a full member of the kingsguard One can accurately assume the brotherhood was active during the mad kings reign. Add to this both Beric and Thoros were at points in service to Robert. Thoros at the siege of Pyke during the Greyjoy rebellion and beric as you see in the video

Ned Stark is the perfect example of a man who wins by playing by the rules. He is completely oblivious to how many snakes are around him. The snakes absolutely hate him because they all cheat to move up in status and he makes them look terrible. When Ned Stark beats Tywin Lannister, he actually loses because he doesn't realize the snakes want the Lannisters to win since the Lannisters are also cheaters and are easier to control than the Starks. The snakes then conspire against the Starks to keep the Lannisters in power so they can play the game without rules and honor.

someone667 Writing was a bit lame but I believe that is how the story should have gone anyway. King’s Landing should have been burned down a long time ago.. and I kindda knew Daenerys was gonna die in the end. And that Iron Throne was just right to be melted! The whole season was a bit rushed but at least its fast-paced compared to Season 6-7 with so many filler episodes. I was even expecting Jon Snow to die. That may be my disappointment if I have to pinpoint something.

This, stupid? What would Tywin Lannister have done about this then? Declare war against the king? Battle litterally everyone in the realm? Making himself an open enemy of the crown wasn't an option. If Robert had not died, Tywin would've gladly given the Mountain. Tywin Lannister is the most powerful man in the seven kingdoms, yes. But he CANNOT declare war against the crown and expect to live. The Tyrells are with the Baratheons at this point. The entire North would rally. The Eyrie is ruled over by Catelyne Stark's sister. The Martells in Dorne would've loved for a chance to get revenge on Tywin. Tywin wouldn't forget this, but he sure as hell wouldn't be able to resist.

Why English use "C" for Cock, Creature, Canibal, Court, Cattle, etc. instead of "K" that use for that sound -> Kneel, Keep, Knight, Kettle, etc.? And why that "C" sounds like "S" for Center, Cigar, etc. "S" is more likely best option for that Senter, Sigar just like Sugar, Secret, Six, etc.? 2. Why use "T" in Want, Must, Knight, Twilight, etc.? 3. What the different sound between Must, Mass, Mess??? Answer me please if you want

@bruhvenant2 жыл бұрын
@@JB-xl2jc yes, I've always felt the thing to take away from Ned was that he had unimpeachable morals, but bad tactics. To do right in the world, one has to be willing to get their hands dirty. That doesn't mean go killing on a whim or anything, it just means to be practical. All Ned had to do was take Cersei and kids hostage, he didn't have to hurt them, just lock them in a cushy room that he held the key to. But he failed because his admirable morals got in the way of practical matters and he simply didn't consider the possibilities enough. He was the perfect leader for the North where the culture venerates people such as him, but ill-suited for King's Landing.

I like the reactions from everyone. Taking such an enormous action against Gregor, and by extension Tywin Lannister, is probably unheard of in the capital. Badass, but also shows how Ned didn't really belong or understand how things worked south.

I mean, everyone knows that tywin has the power to take the city at any time if he wants to, he already did it once (sack of kings landing)... Challenging tywin is basically a war declaration
@maheryand88947 ай бұрын
I also used to think that this showed how Ned didn't understand how things worked. But actually, I wonder if this wasn't a potential good move here. Ofc it's nice to bring a highborn hurting the smallfolk to justice, but by taking action he also forces the hand of the crown in the Stark/Tully-Lannister fight. Politically, Ned might be at his most powerful within King's Landing now, with the King's ear and his own powers granted by his office. Being given the king's authority in his absence also gives him a rare opportunity to do this, if he doesn't exploit it now Robert might force him to just forget what happened to Bran and leave the Lannister alone. But now, Robert will probably have to pick a side instead of trying to merely stop the fighting like he used to, and then once he learns of his wife's infidelity he's unlikely to choose the Lannister. So the crown would probably side with the Stark. So the Lannisters influence would probably be curbed and they'll suffer some punishment for their actions. If Tywin is unwilling to take it lying down and comply, yes a big war might break out. But arguably the war had _already_ started anyway; the Riverlands were getting ravaged as they spoke and Ned himself had been wounded. What Robert was hoping for would merely be a band-aid. At least this way the Lannister would be the bad guys, and instead of facing only the North (who are very far away with fewer men), they' would have to be facing the other 6 kingdoms united behind the crown. One could say Ned's mistake instead was his failure to see how critical a piece Robert would be and anticipate Cersei's attempts to kill him. Not taking a public stand in the king's name against Tywin.

@bierwolf83609 ай бұрын
@@staciasmith5162 ehh, no. The North, Riverlands and Stormlands definetly would have been firmly on the royalist side. They didn't side with Tywin when he had a stronger hand, they certainly wouldn't do it in this scenario either. Further, none of the other houses would have a particular reason to join with Tywin, the Vale and Dorne actively hating his guts. Tywin would indeed be totally isolated and even the Iron Islands would reap his coasts. The war would be impossible to win for Tywin, hence why he didn't want it - nor expect it. Tywin would come to King's Landing, talk it over with Robert, throw Gregor Clegane under the bus by claiming he acted independently, promise recompensation and aid in capturing Clegane (and arrange his death before he could reveal that he was ordered by Tywin). Robert would be satisfied. The only way war would occur would be if Eddard revealed Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella's ancestry. In that case, Robert would seize them all, Tywin would rise in rebellion for his children, though he would definetly fail. In the aftermath, Robert would either remarry (likely to Margaery, securing the Reach) or abdicate in favour of Stannis. The realm would be prepared to throw fAegon back into the sea and then prepare the northern front. This, however, was all thwarted by a pig. What Eddard should have done at the very least: get out of King's Landing asap to support Stannis. Stannis near on took King's Landing with what few houses supported him, he would have crushed the Lannisters with the North and Riverlands on his side.

@bierwolf83609 ай бұрын
@@joyre1679 that's just silly. Tywin retaliated to the kidnapping of Tyrion - and could easily have claimed Gregor was acting independently, absolving himself of blame. Minor sacrifice, if Robert would even allow the trial. Tywin didn't need a war at this point at all as he didn't stand to gain anything from it. What Tywin wanted was a feeble but blood-related king (Joffrey) to use to consolidate Lannister power (which happend with Robert's death), war or no war. Eddard was definetly in the legal right, but used this situation to remove a rival. He definetly would have used this situation to also tell Robert the truth, a move that immediately would mean an isolated Westerlands at war with the whole realm, a final war for Robert before he'd probably abdicate in favour of Stannis. All of that was thwarted by a pig.
