That theory doesn't make much sense if you've actually read the books. Like, how would Sam know the intimate personal thoughts of every POV character? If the main books were framed as history books, like what Fire & Blood was, then it would make sense, but the main books aren't like that at all, so it makes zero sense that there would be an in-universe author.

Theon did the right thing. The battle was lost, his uncle (the superior fighter) had his sister at his mercy, and charging in to be a hero would have done nothing but get him killed. Ellaria, however, messed up badly by letting herself and her daughter get captured alive. Cersei is going to torture her daughter to death in front of Ellaria before it's her turn.
@Schnukii137 жыл бұрын
You are right Ellaria is no Marthell therefore the Dornismen will not come to her rescue. She highly overestimated her value here, that and Queen Cersei's cruelness...☠️☠️

I agree... I was hoping Theon would turn ninja and save his sister, but in reality they had already lost, one movement would have killed Yara, jumping in the water kept both of them alive, at least temporarily and he can regroup, tell what happened, get help, and potentially save them later.

I still don't understand what Theon was suppose to do in the last scene. His sister has a blade to her throat by their crazy uncle which gives the impression he'll just kill her if Theon does anything. All of their men are dead and their portion of the Iron born fleet is gone and we can clearly see at least 2 other Iron born with Euron in the shot. Theon is outnumbered and literally only has the options of suicide charge(which will probably get his sister killed), surrender, or run. I understand they wanted to make Theon look like a coward here but honestly in this situation what was the right choice?

i just made a comment saying the exact same thing lmao. The main impact that scene had on me was that Theon made a smart decision and wasn't an egotistical dipshit. I'm gonna be super pissed if they have Yara be angry about it if he ends up rescuing her or something cause it was so clearly the right thing to do. like best case, impossibly lucky scenario, Euron doesn't immediately kill Yara and even fights Theon one on one, i'm pretty sure it's been established that Yara is the better fighter out of the two anyway, so they'd both be captured or killed.
@mediumgui627 жыл бұрын
Paintedawg old Theon would've sacrificed himself anyways to try to save his sister, even if it was clearly impossible. The same way Jon tried to save Rickon.
@michaelperry92617 жыл бұрын
Anyone not a coward would try to save their own sister regardless of the risk. Yes you can rationalise it all you want and say it was the right thing, but to non cowards it was the wrong choice. Don't get me wrong I am not having a go at cowards, and I have no problem with them. They were born that way. Different people have different traits and its just the way we all are. I know I will get flak for this statement, but the truth hurts. In this case it shouldn't, just accept who you are and get on with life.

8:29 You are wrong here i believe. Tyrion mostly says that burning down the capital with her dragons and then seizing them withthe Dothraki and Unsullied would not be wise, as that would only prove Cersei's point of this being a foreign savage invasion, which would lead to many Lords rebelling while the Red Keep is burned to the ground, and what good would there be to ruling over rebelling kingdoms in a pile of ash. Instead they will use the Westerosi soldiers to lay siege to Kings Landing.
@zinnia45167 жыл бұрын
Thats stupid of Tyrion , no Lord would have the power to rebell against Danny and nobody would even try because they would shit in there pants.Tyrion tiers to get his Methods approved by his enemy by safing as many people as possible and be on the good side of the Lords but thats not how to counqer a Kingdom and it will never work out that way, just look how Aegon counqerd westeros nobody tried to rebell after her claimed the Iron throne with fire and blood. it's actually very intelligent, what's the point in ruling a wasteland? CONGRATS you're a ruler of essentially nobody because you killed them all for the power rather than strategising then she would go in head first lose a dragon or 2 and end up with nobody left to rule over.
@Gardstyle357 жыл бұрын
The 1. Time Dragons came people did rebelled for quite a long time. Agon needed alot of time, lost several fights and was much smarter in diplomatics.... Dany just going there would be stupid, the lennisters leave the city going to castely rock, all of westeros has now a reason to fight against dany and another mad targayen. And, dont forget, cercei has dragonfire. Dany attacks with the dragons, she left with most soliders, the civils are still kept in the city the dragons burn something and cercei lets dragon fire explode. Now dany gets the blame, a million people die and noone will be willing to follow dany. Yes some might have to much fear, but we know that dragons can be killed from history, we know that targeryans lost fights in the past (even with dragons). skirmish fights, fights when it rains - than you can beat her and the dragons.

TGTDestiny Arya killing Littlefinger would actually make a lot of sense in the books. With the faceless men, Arya goes through rigorous training, most of it being the "lying game" you very briefly saw on the show. Littlefinger constantly lies to work his plans and it would make sense that a faceless man would be the one to catch him at it after all the training. In the books, LF is charming and his motives are always hidden. While nobody trusts him on the show, he is respected in the books. So that's what it would take to expose him. I was hoping that LF would make it to S8, or even endgame, because his character might be self-serving but is probably the most intuitively intelligent and ironically honest about their society. All of his dialogues are pure gold. He is a favorite of mine and I'll be extremely sorry to see him go, but it does make sense in the storyline.
@alexmiller13957 жыл бұрын
One thing that REALLY bothered me is how Arya didn't know anything about what had happened in the North. She masqueraded as Walder Frey, ostensibly for a few weeks, to plan a feast and get from Riverrun to the Twins. Roose Bolton helped orchestrate the Red Wedding and was an essential ally to the Freys. Surely there would be much discussion around the family and its head about how Roose, his wife, and his half-Frey heir were murdered and Ramsay was deposed by the Starks, who the Freys would be very nervous about coming back into power. I accept that news travels slow in Westeros but Walder Frey would be one of the first to know about these developments. People have also tried to rationalize this to me by saying that the timeline isn't strictly linear and that Arya's storyline may be behind that of Sansa and Jon but I don't buy it. Brienne rides for Riverrun only after Jon receives a letter from Ramsay indicating that Roose is dead; Walder Frey would have gotten word as well that his co-conspirator has just been "poisoned by his enemies." Once Brienne gets to Riverrun she explains to Jaime, who later feasts with the Freys, that she wishes to convince the Tully forces to help Sansa retake Winterfell. At this time there's also a Valemen army garrisoned at Moat Cailin (north and worryingly close to the Twins) with unclear intentions at least from the Frey perspective. Also, even if Arya were uncharacteristically oblivious, she still should probably be working under the assumption that Jon is still in the Night's Watch, Sansa is in Lannister custody in King's Landing AND Bran and Rickon are somewhere but maybe still alive. Arya, at the very least, should know that Roose was dead and that the Starks were attempting to retake Winterfell and would probably at least would be curious about the status of the 4 family members that weren't beheaded or murdered at the Red Wedding.
@Meraxes67 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the scene dramatically shows Arya's choice to forego killing and reunite with her family. It's a significant moment in her character arc, after several seasons of viewers wondering how her dark path has really affected her. Plus, it gives Maisie's acting a chance to shine, and we get to see Hot Pie one last time. I can see why they wrote that in instead of her learning about Jon off-screen as Walder.
@sealy_997 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's cool thematically, but the show still needs to make sense logically, and quite frankly it hasn't done that for a while. Like it's almost unbelievable with some of the plot that's been going on these past few seasons.

@ancova11837 жыл бұрын
I read her phrasing as a little odd, but that it fit better in the context that if Varys betrays her according to their new promise to tell her how she's failing, that she will kill him. I felt that was a much better way, but the way the video was cut made it seem much more abrupt and disjointed, which leads to confusion. I'm not going to pass judgement on who is the best ruler though. I'm just going to say that all 3 appeal to me in one way or another.

The Big Fish how did Dany not gain everything she has? Dragons are her merit first and foremost, unsullied are her merit. Lol, you mean to throw out emotion but this is literature. @mikem90017 жыл бұрын
Emilia Clarke's acting is fine. She correctly shows that Dany still has a lot to learn about Westeros and how to rule (which is hardly surprising - she has grown up and learned to rule in very different cultures, in Essos). She is unfair to Varys - he never betrayed the Mad King (at least in the TV series) and he chose to work for Robert Baratheon rather than lose his head - the same sort of choice Dany has made a couple of times. He gave her whatever help he could. Dany needs to tone down on the anger and think a bit more from the perspective of others, or she may not last till the end.

I love how you don't belittle characters and some of the plots from the show. Throughout the series run most people think some of the things are pointless like Grey Worm, Missandei, the Sand Snakes, and Sam's character development but you don't brush off such things off. Instead you actually talk it through. Thank you for that. Your thorough analysis, subtle humor and overall decency is why I subscribed to you.

You forgot to mention that the people on Euron's ship have their tongues cut out, thus the ship is called The Silence. Also you can see some of his crew cutting the tongues of their enemy to replace the men they lost during the fight. Theon saw them cutting the tongues and got PTSD or something because he also had parts of him cut off.

Just read a great theory on reddit, that Jon is not Azor Ahai, but actually Lightbringer and Rhaegar was Azor Ahai. Really interesting: www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/comments/6pxyrv/everything_rhaegar_is_azor_ahai_jon_snow_is/ There were three attempts to create the sword according to legend. " He labored for thirty days and thirty nights until it was done. However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke. The second time he took fifty days and fifty nights to make the sword, even better than the first. To temper it this time, he captured a lion and drove the sword into its heart, but once more the steel shattered. The third time, with a heavy heart, for he knew before hand what he must do to finish the blade, he worked for a hundred days and nights until it was finished. This time, he called for his wife, Nissa Nissa, and asked her to bare her breast. He drove his sword into her breast, her soul combining with the steel of the sword, creating Lightbringer" Here are three attempts: 1) Aemon said, that at first Rhaegar thought he is the prince that was promiced. He died at the Trident. "When he went to temper it in water, the sword broke". 2) Later he started to think his son Aegon is the one. But Aegon was murdered under Tywin's orders, who wanted revenge on Aerys. Lion's heart. 3) After Azor Ahai (Rhaegar) pierced Nissa-Nissa (Lyanna) with his sword true Lightbringer was created. It killed Lyanna but her blood, her soul and her strength went into the stell.... Lightbringer is Lyanna's son - Jon Snow. He is The Prince That Was Promised and his song is The Song of Ice and Fire. And Azor Ahai is nothing more than his father. "
@KittyBoom3607 жыл бұрын
"Lightbringer" in Latin is Lucifer. We saw him as the fallen angel/falling star/meteor in the show. Historically, it's the meteor that brought about the little ice age during medieval times which was followed by famine and disease across Europe. Or, it's Jon Snow, sure, for the show.

The writers of the show have no idea what to do with Littlefinger, so they are making him into a stupid villain that they can kill off at the end of the season. Littlefinger was not this stupid/pointless in the books
@motorhead480677 жыл бұрын
Matthew Marshall He's not stupid or pointless in the show. He started the War of the Five Kings. I think he still has a role to play this season as well. Creating conflict between Jon and Sansa isn't stupid or pointless. Conflict between them makes the Great War against the Walkers even more of a challenge and therefore Littlefinger is a serious problem. And I don't think he's stupid for trying to manipulate Sansa. It fits with his character pretty well.
@Mateo-mg4jw7 жыл бұрын
Yes, he started the war of the five kings, as he did in the book. Besides that I don't see his motive. What is the point of him making the conflict between Jon and Sansa if it just makes the Great War tougher? Why would he ever want to make conflict against the white walkers tougher? If that's the role he's playing this season that makes him just some villain for the crowd to root against just so he is killed at the end of the season, making the crowd happy. In the books he does manipulate Sansa, but with some purpose not yet revealed yet. Here he is just manipulating her to create conflict between her and Jon, like you said, and to be a complete creep, to make the crowd hate him and Sansa seem like a strong woman.

The climb. All there is is the climb, he's said what he wants himself.
@SlinkyJosh7 жыл бұрын
Littlefinger's whole thing is creating chaos, as a ladder that he can climb. He doesn't know what's going to happen next, any more than anybody else does. But he knows that the more chaos he creates, the more opportunities will arise for him to step one more rung up the ladder. Scenario: Let's say Littlefinger succeeds in driving Jon against Sansa, creating two opposing factions in the North. He still sort of controls the knights of the Vale, remember? He could easily align himself with Cersei to help her defeat the North, and in return she might offer him a position of even more power, getting him that much closer to sitting the Iron Throne. He doesn't care that the Great War is coming - we don't even know if he believes it's true. He'd align himself with the Night King if it would get him on the Iron Throne. Unlike Daenerys, he wouldn't mind being King of the Ashes. He's like The Joker in The Dark Knight - "Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it."

As for the weird crypt scene, seemed to me that it was LF's clumsy way to approach Jon as the Ned stand-in (LF is also approaching Ned in the guise of his statue...) for permission to court the proverbial daughter, as Jon as head of household has to formally approve (despite the fact that informally he'd let Sansa [and Arya]do her own thing) Will be fascinating to see if Bran makes it to Winterfell before Jon gets back, would be awkward given he is Robbs heir and can overrule Sansa as the senior Stark. Indeed given Arya is unmarried she is technically above Sansa as well now if she gets back...

Its the content that matters, in the end. The vid misses a couple of points on strategy, For example, the decision to go for Casterley Rock makes sense because Tyrion does not know that the gold mines have run out. So its actually a worthless target, but Tyrion (and therefore Daenerys) do not know this, whereas Cersei does. And the decision to sail past Dorne also makes sense, before sending part of her force back there.

You know, I think that story with the Sand Snakes is interesting, how they become so consumed by vengeance that they ultimately become monsters themselves. It's kind of a loose adaptation of the Lady Stoneheart-Brotherhood w/out Banners storyline in the books. Or rather, it's inspired by that anyway. Of course, I don't think that's really what the showrunners were intending when they were writing the show!Dorne plotline, but that's a good way to interpret the show!Dorne story and it does fit in thematically with ASOIAF, which is a sort of anti-war story after all. Really tragic when you think about it... Good point.

Why are people hating on Dany when she wants Jon to bend the knee? If you haven't met a bastard Stark who somehow became King of the North and his known father led the Northerners to rebel, I think you'd want him to bend the knee, too, to test his allegiance. You, watching the show, you know more of who Jon is but Dany doesn't know him. Dany doesn't know what you know, weirdo. She's no bran stark. She just knows him as a stranger. She is not yet fully aware of the evils that come from beyond the wall but she was good enough to listen to tyrion and varys. She listens to her small council. If you had three dragons and an army of unsullied and dothraki, you'd be cocky as hell too or worse. Sheesh! Give Dany a break. The point is, there are no perfect characters in Game of Thrones. Edit: Also if the lords and common folk in King's Landing see two of the most powerful people in the realm supporting her wouldn't that potentaly cuase unrest in King's landing that could cause the common folk to rebel and kill cersei and then surrender to Dany, I mean come on Cersai was hated before blowing up the Sept now I would guess people only follow her because there wasn't any other choice.

Am I the only who kinda lost interest in a lot of the important characters like Davos, Theon, Tyrion and Jaime as well as characters like Varys and Littlefinger? As their character arcs fizzled out last season, they kind of lost their personalities with it. We don't really see Theon doing anything, we don't see Tyrion being the clever, drunk dwarf that he once was. Not to mention Varys and Littlefinger, who just occupy space and stroll around in random locations out of focus with only occasional smirky cutaways or snippets of vague dialogue. I don't even know if the show is going anywhere with these characters anymore.

secondary characters? Tyrion has more screentime than any other character in this show. Littlefinger caused 90% of the things that happened in the story. Without him EVERYTHING would be different. Varys was degraded in the show to the guy that just wants to help the people, but in reality he does nothing. He is master of spys and intrigues it's not his job to negotiate alliances and then just stand around to let us see our "main character Dany". Jamie and Theon have some of the most interesting storys, how they changed from what they were at the begin of the story. Sorry, but I say these are our maincharacters. Without them the story would be boring. I prefer every single one of them over a show Daenarys who did what? Free some slaves, act like a bitch as if she owns the world, has some dragons and everyone cheers to her, even if she is in the show a very unintersting character? Even show Jon isn't that great of a character IMO. He is always doing the right and honorful things like Ned but his plot isn't that interesting. (Except for all the lore like TowerOfJoy which we all got from the books). Tyrion and Littlefinger are my favourite characters in the books (they are way more intelligent there than in the show) and the plot development of all these "secondary" characters made ASoIaF/GoT interesting. That's why many people criticies S5-7, because D&D don't have material from the books. They know the ending of the story, but they don't know what to do with the characters and just move the story on. Thats why most of these characters story has no real sense anymore and dialogue feels really bad. Like all the good dialogue I loved from earlier seasons is in the books. Literally all of them.

There have been some pointless Missandei and Grey Worm scenes--mainly the awkward drinking/joking scenes with Tyrion last year. But this sex scene was not pointless at all. They deserved to be humanized and needed that closure to their romantic arch. The wasted scene this season was the soup/poop montage with Sam in Episode 1. That literally adding NOTHING.
@Vsxe7 жыл бұрын
Agreed with the relevance of the missandei/grey worm. The Sams scene is also character development, it shows that he must work from below if he wants to gain a place there. Besides it is technically a master class of video and sound editing. A lot of work to recognize.
@runabout1117 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the Sam scenes. In Sam's mind, he'd be reading books all day and learning ways to help Jon. He thought the life of the maesters was glamorous, that it was just a bunch of smart blokes theorizing different things and not arduous work. The scenes with Sam show that is not the truth, it's not easy becoming a maester, it's almost the opposite of what Sam imagined. It shows also that Sam is willing to put up with things that put him on the verge of throwing up, because he made a promise to Jon to help find something to defeat the white walkers, which he has seen first hand. To me, it not only strengthens his bond to Jon but shows his loyalty, and shows how far he has come from the first season. In S1, he was a pink, soft, lost shell of a man who had been cast away by his family, with zero confidence. Now, he's breaking laws of the maesters which he intended to become, in part to save one man who shares the last name of a man who he respected greatly. His character evolution is pretty remarkable, and while he's not the most favored character in the show or the most entertaining, he's developing the ability to survive and do what he thinks is right in order to save the realm. I respect Sam a whole lot. We've seen some awful things in this show, beheadings, torture, groin stabbings of varying degrees, but the scenes with Sam, specifically the shit scene and the transition from Jorah's pus to pot pie are the only ones in this show to ever make me cringe and turn away. Sam is a very important character to the finale of the show, and this season is proving as much.
