Good thing you said that instead of cryptically implying it was "difficult to explain", accomplishing nothing.

Korgull capitalism by itself is not evil but extreme capitalism is evil . extreme capitalism puts profit above everything including in those stuff where for profit it endangers human life .
@Korgull66697 жыл бұрын
+ayush kumar This is just another version of "it's not capitalism, it's crony capitalism!" The whole system is designed in a way that it will crumble into cronyism/"extreme capitalism". The basis of the system is that individuals, motivated by self-interest, will seek to build their financial empire, and in doing so, can be used to benefit society, as they will realize their moral obligation to give back to the society that allowed them to grow, and the workers that built their financial empire. Also the state will ensure this happens via taxation and welfare. This is Adam Smith stuff. However, there is a contradiction here. Capitalism rewards those who are best at looking after themselves, those who are best at looking after themselves are generally not the best at recognizing the effort of others to help them get where they are (see: the backlash against Obama when he stated "you didn't build that"). The most successful capitalists most likely won't believe they have any moral obligation to give back to society (see: the entire capitalist PR job/ideology known as Libertarianism/"Fuck You, I Got Mine"). Hence why the state must intervene with taxation and welfare. But, there is another problem. Money is power in a system like capitalism where money drives everything. Economic power can be transferred into political power with things like bribes/donations, lobbying, etc.. Capital does not simply drive job growth, it builds political careers. Capitalists can effectively neutralize the very thing that is supposed to regulate against the excess, the state, or worse, use the power of the state for their own benefit. On top of that, capital can also finance social movements and propaganda that turns working class people into some of the biggest defenders of capitalist excess. This is what the Tea Party is, rich people using Saul Alinsky's work on how to organize the proletariat, to organize them in support of capitalism, rather than in support of themselves, as Saul Alinsky intended. This is what people call "crony capitalism", or as you called it "extreme capitalism". But all that is is the logical conclusion of capitalist entrenchment.

Is no one else irritated by Dany demanding that Jon bend the knee? Even Aegon didn't do that. He didn't sit in Dragonstone repeating titles at people. He went out and conquered five kingdoms before approaching the North. Not to mention that in truth, the Targaryens didn't have the Iron Throne taken from them. They lost it in a cesspool of betrayal, torture, incest and paranoia. No, the daughter doesn't bear her father's sins, but that doesn't make her immune from the consequences of his actions. Aerys lost the Seven Kingdoms, so she's lost any right to rule them. Life's a bitch, and then you die.
@qarcon32477 жыл бұрын
Also what happens after Danny dies? and another crazy ass targaryens comes around killing people with fire. Why is the north inclined to believe all targaryens for the rest of time will be as cool as Danny wants people to believe she is?
@Sapphonouveau7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if on top of all the other irritating things about Dany (and no to be clear, I don't find her irredeemably irritating, just a normal level or irritating i.e. fairly realistic), people just went "meh, this thing is clearly winding down so let's just go on the ride." I'm still irritated by the fact she's even trying to invade the seven kingdoms, instead of building up influence and power in the east and undermining the seven kingdoms within by buying out loyalists and without by sanctions, piracy and trade (hey, worked for Great Britain). I mean, it's obvious with Robert's death (and even before) the whole place is teetering and was in obscene debt. Best thing to do would be to have let it fall and then step in to 'help them back to their feet'. Oh, well.
@ashante1907 жыл бұрын
Dany can still rule over the seven kingdoms. She just lost the right to have it passed on to her through succession, that doesn't mean she can't take it by conquest which is what she plans to do. Dany was right. Just like Robb, Jon is in open rebellion to the crown (currently cersei and possibly Dany if she wins). If Dany wants to potentially rule over 7 kingdoms and not 6 kingdoms, then there will be a problem between the two and he will eventually bend if he doesn't want to fight a war on both sides.
@mariak.93247 жыл бұрын
Have you ever read the books? Iron Throne and Seven Kingdom united under Targaryen rule. And they never actually lost line of succession. Robert Baratheon got the Throne because actually was next in succession line after Viserys. And that's why he tried to kill him. Eddard or much better Jon Arryn could have been King too if they hadn't count that. That's the ethics and logic in the world of Westeros. Daenerys has claim though. It really pisses me when people judge characters in game of thrones world under our world ethics. Yes, Daenerys could have sit in Meereen to be queen there and if you read the last chapters of her in DwD that she wants to do. But she can't!!!! Because she has commitment to her family. Everyone in GoT world would think the same. She has to restore her family's throne. The end.
@hester2347 жыл бұрын
Maria K. very good point! Dany's claim to the Iron Throne is definitely more rightful than Cercei's, considering that all of Cercei's children were bastards (and considering that Cercei murdered Robert, of course). The only problem I see, as Qarcon mentioned, is Dany's infertility. If Mirri Maz Duur was right, and there is no reason to not believe what she said, Dany will be obliged to make this clear to whomever she will marry. When she dies, only a bastard can follow. In the thinking of Westerosi politics this could be difficult and lead to another war. She really must pick her husband in Westeros carefully, she can not fall for another pretender like Hizdahr zo Loraq in Meereen.

I'm starting to feel like Hodor was the last great reveal of the show. Exactly, why is Jon being resurrected not a big deal?? How did Sam know that Jon was at Winterfell? If he knew that Jon was stabbed to death by his brothers, and was resurrected, he would investigate that. No one questions Jon for abandoning the Nights Watch except for Ramsey. None of the northern lords ask him about it. Tyrion, Dany also didn't ask him why he left the Watch and became King in the North. Don't know how the show will address this...

@rasmussteen28257 жыл бұрын
Great work as always Alt-Shift but I want to touch on some things you said 1: I think that Jon did change from his resurrection but not just in the way people expected. People expected him to go a bit evil or lose contact with reality, become aloof and lose parts of himself like Dondarrion but that's not what happened except Jon did loose a part of himself. He lost his to will to fight, his will to live. When he first woke up after his death Davos had to convince him to go out and "fail again". Here it shows that Jon believed he failed and he had to be convinced to continue. After this Jon continually attempts to give up. He leaves the night watch even though he knew about the white walkers and when he met up with Sansa he refused to try and take back Winterfell from the Boltons even though Winterfell's his home, the one true home he's ever known. He only tried to take back winterfell to save Rickon and when Rickon was called he charged into an enemy army knowing full well that meant certain death. His reason for fighting, saving his brother, was gone and he charged into death. He even tells Melisandre to not bring him back again, showing that if he dies he does not want to live again. Jon did loose a part of himself, his purpose, his reason for living. He only becomes the Jon Snow we know again when he is appointed king in the north, when people show their faith in him to be their leader, the leader to name him the king in the north and to stand against the incoming darkness. People saying that Jon didn't change didn't in my opinon look for the right changes. 2: I think Daenarys arc in this season is to embrace her Targaryen ancestry. Olenna tells her to be a dragon and in the preview for episode 4 she says "enough with the clever plans". She's acting like a lannister instead of a Targaryen. She needs to back to go forward, she needs to be like her ancestor Aegon the conqueror and bring fire and blood. She's so afraid of becoming her father who burned men alive but she's a dragonlord. Every dragonlord who's ever existed has burned men alive. Aegon burned thousands in the field of fire and he probably would have burned traitors alive aswell. People give her shit whenever she gets mad or something, saying that she's Aerys 2:0 but she's doing what every dragonlord before her has done. The reason why Daenarys didn't scout with Drogon was because she hasn't accepted who she is out of fear but that has to change or she will loose. 3: It makes sense that the houses of the reach doesn't follow Olenna because House Tyrell is dead. Mace is dead, Loras is dead and Margaery is dead. Only Olenna is left and Olenna isn't even a Tyrell, she's a Redwyne. So even though The Redwynes might still be loyal every other house has no reason to. House Tyrell as a house is done and in times of war The Tarly's has always been the reach's true leaders. As you said in the previous video, the houses of the reach has always felt that the Tyrells didn't deserve their leadership as they only became wardens of the south because they happened to be in Highgarden. It makes sense that most of the reach would follow Tarly rather than Olenna I know it's a long comment but I hope you read it so some plot points may be cleared up for you

The point of Jon's resurrection, as I understand, was to release him from his Night's Watch vows. He gave his life to the Night's Watch. After hanging Ser Alliser and the others for treason, he says, "My watch has ended." He, "killed the boy, to let the man be born," And his death released him from his vows, allowing him to leave Castle Black, retake Winterfell from the Boltons, and become King in the North. He pledged his life at the Godswood to the Night's Watch. He died. And now his watch has ended.

Jon Connington is one my favorite POV characters behind Theon and Tyrion. Tyrion was made a saint in the show, but in the books hes the darkest character; someone who has raped women and ordered the murder of other men, killed Shae willingly rather than self defense, and of course patricide. The show didn't want to show this cause your supposed to root for Tyrion which is easier in the books despite him being a monster cause your in his head, but in the show if you see him commit dark acts you'll just think of him as a villain. These are just some of the differences between the books and the show. Please, read the books. Its a great examination of the characters true inner selves, and what drives them, and what conflicts they have in themselves.

As always: Great video. One suggestion: Include more shots of a map of Westeros with a indicatiion where the scene you are talking about is taking place. It would only be a second but would help tremendously with orientation. (Like you did on 14:41)

If Cersei doesn't care about being seeing with Jaime is because as she said in the show, she's the queen now and she does whatever she wants. But also, she destroyed the faith, so in her mind she killed the gods who frowned upon her relationship. Also in show where characters are separated by huge distances, they do seem to travel a lot more and way faster these days.

Before The Credits Davos doesn't blame Tyrion for his son's death, he blames Melisandre and himself.

Really? did he say that in books? makes him really dick of a character since Mel begged stannis to take her along and that she'd protect his fleet with help of lord of light...Davos was the one who talked stannis out of it.

The take-down of Highgarden and Casterly Rock (but ESPECIALLY Highgarden) is one of the most stupid and nonsensical rushed things this show has done since Doran's stupid death. Real talk the quality of this show has dipped super hard ever since they moved past the books. Sorry not sorry

CadaverJunky Wow I wonder if people actually ONLY want to bash the show?! No one ever said that the Lannisters didn't besiege Highgarden! Maybe they held a siege which might have given Euron time to get to Casterly Rock? Maaaybe? Jesus Christ I know it's not all perfect and the books are more complex (I loved reading them as well) but just put that aside for once and stop nitpicking, will you?

Dany gave the Unsullied the opportunity to live as free men when she freed them from slavery. They chose to remain in her service and to help her fight for the Iron Throne.
@pavlablahova35655 жыл бұрын
Well... I don't know, man. She did say she is freeing them, but they just stood there, completely still, as obedient as ever. I don't think they even have a clue what being free means, not after their training. So they just go on and serve another "slave master". Kinda sad.

15:46 Olenna calling Cersei monstrous is a bit hypocritical when her decision to kill Joffrey and start chaos turned Cersei even more monstrous then she was seeking vengeance for herself and her children when the war finally came to a end and everything was fine. She knew Baelish wasn't to be trusted when Varys came to her in Season 3 about his plans to abduct sansa and marry her, but she didn't care about it for Margaery and poisoned Joffrey which led to Tyrion's arrest, Sansa becoming a enemy of the crown and Joffrey's murderer, Oberyn's death, Tywin's death which gave Cersei power to do whatever she wanted, Tyrion escaping to Bravos, Margaery's manipulation of Tommen which made Cersei to arm the Faith with power, which led to Loras's and Margaery's arrest, which led to Myrcella's death along with Doran and Trystane, Margaery and the Faith manipulating Tommen to cancel Trial by combat and finally Cersei blowing the Sept to protect herself and killing her enemies and rivals in which Margaery, Loras and Mace Tyrell died. She isn't a great player because she didn't consider and failed to imagine the long term consequences of her actions. Littlefinger and Varys are much greater players especially in the Books who's actions always seem to pay off and work for them. She knew her actions would help Baelish to abduct Sansa and help him in furthering his goal to become king like Varys told her which would have caused problems for Margaery as a queen and House Tyrell if she was alive but she went ahead with it anyway. She played a part in causing the chaos and making her monstrous spreading like a disease if she wouldn't have poisoned Joffrey things would have been different and Tywin would have been alive and perhaps he might have succeeded a bit in controlling Joffrey. You have to lose something to gain something and Margaery should have adjusted for Joffrey if she wanted to be a queen so madly but no Olenna wanted everything to be perfect for her granddaughter and no adjustments of living with a monster but her decision led to a tender and useless boy to be crowned as a King who couldn't even talk to some sparrow guard without being afraid even when he had powerful King's guard behind him. She in a way caused the death of her family in trying to protect them and led to the chaos and increase in Cersei's madness which knows no bounds.

13:28 it is true... The Unsullied were given the choice to leave or fight for Dany as free men... They made the CHOICE to fight for her and to free enslaved people... To fight for freedom, like Tyrion said

Saying that Dany shouldn't be as sceptical about the army of the dead because she has seen dragons is a bit unfair I think. Dragons are a real thing that everyone knows about. It wasn't too long ago that there were actual dragon skulls in the throne room, no? I doubt I could convince people that zombies are real because there are elephants in the world.
@subwayvesubscriber7 жыл бұрын
The elephant analogy is a bit odd, but you're right.

I feel that this season has way too much deus ex machina momente the grey joy fleet under Euron is in way too many places at once. This series has gone from realistic fantasy to beyond absurdutiy. Example a) why travel all the way up to Dragonstone through the narrow sea and then send the majority of your fleet back the same way to drop off a few nobles. Have any of the show runners seen the map that they blast at us at the beginning of every episode? b) And also how did the unsullied bypass the greyjoy fleet when Theon and Asha (Yara) got so easily surprised and annihilated. If you say it was strategy to allow them that they could think they could take casterly rock why not sink them alongside the rebellious greyjoys as they obviously left at similar/same time from Dragonstone. They were all there in the planning room episode.

Book readers are now sounding like a bunch of whiners, and I am a book reader myself. You've known for over a year that this season and next season will be accelerated due to fewer episodes. You have known for years that the show would outpace the books. And you've also had repeated warnings since the show started that the two are separate entities. Stop Fucking Whining It will not make TWOW come out any faster. Edit: this is in regards to the comments more than the content of this video.
