And once he did, he created a polity that had not existed before, a polity that the Baratheons usurped and were clearly ill-prepared to take on the responsibility for, as little more than a decade later, the usurpers had their power usurped from them by the Lannisters, and now the realm has devolved into the bickering chaotic mess it was three centuries prior. It's almost like deposing the Targaryens as the royal family was a folly that ultimately led to more destabilization and that clearer minds should have prevailed before usurping power away from a family that had controlled the realm for 300 years, even after they had lost their dragons. Robert was never meant to be king and he knew it deep in his heart, he didn't become king because he had the ambition for it but by circumstance.

Viserys went in exile when he was 8 years old w newborn Dany & Willem Darry (an old member of kingsguard) who took care of them till he died in few years, he literally lost everything he had he even had to sell his mother's crown to survive while taking care of Dany & carrying future of targ. dynasty on his shoulders, while fearing & running away from a city to another to keep ahead of Robert's assassin's. Such trauma and pressure from a young age no wonder that he ended up like that, even Dany in the books said she misses the boy he was not the man he became, & ofc he had longed for home too he was a kid he didn't know about entire story of the rebellion or his father's Madness all he knew was that their house was ruling Westeros then suddenly some other houses began rebelling and destroyed everything they had

It's Aegon who created the Iron Throne and the Kingdoms. There was no Seven Kingdoms before Aegon conquered it. So a Targaryen has always sat on the throne. The first non Targaryen was Robert. 42:45

Robert’s claim to the throne is not mainly through his ancestor (possibly bastard-half-brother of Aegon) Orys Baratheon, but also through his grandmother who actually was a true Targaryen princess! Robert’s father Steffon Baratheon was actually a cousin to the Mad King’s father Jahaerys II. and he himself was a second cousin to the Mad King Aerys II.

Aegon's conquest was to unite them against White Walkers because of the Prophecy,he might have had ambitions too, but his dream was main drive. The 1st law he established was the "king's peace" , during Targaryens rule westorous in general was in peace more than any other era before, he also freed the Riverlands from tyranny of iron islanders. Their Dynasty lasted nearly 300 years but it was way richer than other 1000 Years dynasties and ofc their rule had more pressure-responsibilities for ruling 6-7 kingdoms than other ruling houses who held 1 kingdom, & holding legacy of Prophecy which is dangerous,bad luck, many odds against them especially with (maesters conspiracy) who hated magic. They had their own mistakes too ofc (as everyone does) it's not a wonder it lasted 300 years only.

Yes a lot are the same stories but they are each told from their characters and house's perspective. Also the books is a lot more lore and fantasy. They removed a lot of it from the show cuz they wanted to appeal to larger audience. The books are their own thing that's how much characters and magic was removed. Game of thrones is still my fav show but wish they would of kept all the magic and prophecies in it

Jamie broke his vows and the princess and her children raped and murdered by The Mountain. Whether or not Tywin did or didn't order is still up for speculation, although many in the kingdoms believe he ordered it. So when Ned asked for justice against the Lannisters and Robert did nothing. That's why. It's complicated because having allies is everything in Game of Thrones. Whether through loyalty or gold, it's usually best to have than to not have. Did not know about them, didn’t think you would like them, didn’t think you needed to watch them? Well, you guys seem to like it. Learned a lot stuff Taylor, you always have questions. With all the history and the back stories, even though some of it was repeated but from a different point of view. I really liked the narration from the characters on the show. Westeros was inhabited by the children-then 1st men came- then andals, they slaughtered the children established their own Dynasty brought their tradition & Culture so literally everyone is a colonizer, even the Starks, that invading argument shouldn't be used against targs only. Actually the targs dealt with more morality and mercy than u'd expect from any powerful mediaeval people, more than andals & 1st men, They didn't even force their culture or relegion on anyone.

Honestly, aside from House of the Dragon, I think Roberts Rebellion or the Tales do Dunk and Egg would be the best Thrones material to adapt for television. They’ve mentioned Dunk and Egg here and there in the show and the history and lore videos, but never in detail. I just wish George would write faster, but I guess he’s stuck. Hopefully he decides to let someone else finish the story if he can’t get it done.

Robert Baratheon and his Targaryen blood: Orys Baratheon was the bastard half-brother of Aegon the conqueror, during Aegon's conquest Aegon sent Orys to take Storm's End from House Durrandon. Orys Baratheon won and married the daughter of House Durrandon and thus House Baratheon was created and became the lords of Storm's End. So House Baratheon is a result of the union of Aegon's bastard half-brother and House Durrandon, so there is already Targaryen blood in House Baratheon from it's start. Robert Baratheon's grandmother was Rhaelle Targaryen (Daughter of King Aegon the Fifth), so he is at least a quarter Targaryen from his grandmother's side. This blood relation to the Targaryens and the right of conquest gave him some claim to the iron throne after Robert's Rebellion

Tywin had innocent people raped & murdered for the crime of living in Kings Landing and Elia Martell met the same fate because Aerys dared to marry Rhaegar to someone other than Cersei. Robert called all of it deserved. What did Elia do to deserve what happened to her? Nothing and whatever you want to say about Rhaegars children, Rhaenys was 3 years old and was stabbed 50 times by Amory Lorch, Aegon who was just a baby had his skull crushed by Clegane by throwing him against the wall. Robert reveled in all of it. Robert was a pig and that reveal was to me always so satisfying when you realize the family he insisted in pardoning completely destroyed House Baratheon. Robert was cast well but trying to paint him as a good guy needs a lot of glossing over, something the show did a ton of. That someone so pathetic did all the disgusting things he did for a 14 year old girl who hated him was just funny & deserved. Ned was disgusted and heartbroken by what happened & seemingly didnt want anything from the Rebellion because what he fought for was already lost & there was nothing he could do to bring back Lyanna, Brandon or Rickard. All he had was Jon and the promise he made to Lyanna.

Even Old Nann told the story of the lore episode yall just didn't heed or pay attention. Tyrion talked about the long night & several people talked about several things in this episode even Ned and Robert discussed their beef. Raenyra reiterated her Baratheon maternal relation so u should still kno that. If you think none of this was mentioned in season 1 then you really missed a lot even STILL

Incest was valyrian tradition not just for targs,there were 40 dragon riding families in valyria, their ruling was similar to Romans'. Only blood of valyria can ride dragons so ofc targs continued intermarrying although they have married w' other houses too not just themselves, their blood is distributed through Westeros, don't listen to the show.

Tywin is the biggest loser he isn't a smart as people perceive him to be he just doesn't have the moral barrier in his mind abt thinking of how to do something, so he can think of every possible option he has and do it, his rivals aren't sociopath like him so they can't (such as Rob) he was losing to an unexperienced teenager every battle so he had to sneak his way into making his bannerman betraying him and kill him brutally to keep his own scary reputation, he's pathetic
