I know we're not supposed to feel much sympathy for Lysa in the show, but I just came here to point out that Littlefinger ruined her ENTIRE life. Given the way she was dicked around (figuratively and literally) from childhood to now, her being bonkers was inevitable. I understand why they chose not to go this way on the show, but it always stuck with me in the books that when Littlefinger pushed her out the moon door, she didn't scream. She didn't scream because she was already dead -- Littlefinger's words that he'd never loved her, that her entire life was a lie and manipulation, which she probably always knew deep down but simply couldn't accept, had stabbed her through the heart. And lastly, just think about how cruel that is. Littlefinger knew he was going to push her to her death. He could have said anything or nothing. But he chose to say the most hurtful possible thing knowing that those words would be ringing in her ears for a full minute as she falls to her certain death. That is AWFUL. Yeah, that bit about how Lysa didn't scream when he pushed her always made me feel really bad for her.

Littlefinger controls the Vale now because he is Robin's step-father & Robin is underage. If Robin dies then someone with Arryn family blood would become Lord of the Vale not Petyr. For Littlefinger to become Lord of the Vale he would need to seize power by force & probably would need the support of the other Bannermen (Lords) in the Vale and they are unlikely to go for that. Remember Littlefinger is actually a fairly minor Lord who has managed to work his way up to a prominient position in the Court through cunning & guile. He has influence but not direct power.

To keep things in perspective, Littlefinger (born 268 AC) is closer in age to Sansa (286 AC, so 18 yr age difference), than Jorah (254 AC) is to Danaerys (284 AC, so a 30 yr difference), according the the Wiki. Trial by combat is not always to the death. If the accuser retracts their accusation or if the accused admits guilt the trial can also end; however, since the sentence is usually death...it would typically mean a quicker or cleaner death. Since the Champions themselves are not the accuser or accused they don't typically yield. In the case of Sir Duncan the Tall, he won his case even though the majority of his side lost the battle since the thrown retracted their accusation.

Whelp, now that song's in my head for the rest of the day. The Mountain still popping up almost made me spit out my coffee. You know your comment section too well, Steve lol I love how good of a baker Hotpie became and how they only had to do one small clip of the bread to show us. But look how short Baelish is compared to the 14 year old girl lol

It looks like Sansa got all the heigth that Arya didn't get.

They probably had to get the actor who played Baelish a box to stand on 'cause Sophie Turner is tall.

With Tyrion choosing a trial by combat, if his champion dies, then Tyrion will be put to death. If his champion wins, he lives and is set free.

Diana Gero we didn't forget that at all... we just haven't seen, as far as I can remember, what happened to the person whose champion loses.

Such a powerful and amazing episode. The scene with Prince Oberyn and Tyrion was absolutely perfect and so emotional. They both are my favorites. You two are amazing. 😊

Fun fact: this new actor playing The Mountain is the same age as the actor playing Jojin Reed (kid with epilepsy going north with Bran... was the kid in Love Actually. ). They were both 26 during season 4.

Jojen is 26? :o

He is born in 1990, so 28 now :) The Mountain is born in 1988, so he is 2 years older (and is 3 times the size...lol).

If you think back to season one, Ser Alliser Thorne has been mocking Jon by calling him Lord Snow since the beginning. So no, it's not respect -- it's mockery. Here's something the show hasn't talked about but is mentioned in the books -- part of the reason Thorne hates Jon so much is that during Robert's Rebellion, Thorne was a loyal bannerman to the Targaryens, and after Robert won, Thorne chose to take the black rather than be executed. So Thorne sees Jon, Ned's bastard, as a symbol of Ned's insurrection towards Thorne's liege lord as well as being an example that, in the words of Jaime Lannister, "the honorable Ned Stark fucked another woman" -- a living symbol of his enemy's hypocrisy.

The Applesauce Project Thanks-I was going to comment about this , but realized I’d completely forgotten why Thorne dislike Jon so much. 😂

Yo, listening to your speculation makes me so excited for your reaction to the next episode. I’m so glad you’re sharing your experience.

Yes, this is the 3rd recast of the Mountain. The guy that chopped off the horse's head is a different guy from the Mountain that met with Tywin at Harrenhall (when Arya was his cupbearer), and the Mountain we see in this episode. This is actually my least favorite Mountain because the Hound is supposed to be the younger brother lmfao. Rory McCann is like pushing 50 and the new Mountain is like 26. First Mountain was the best.
@iloveyourunclebob6 жыл бұрын
@happyz hoodwinker I agree. Honestly, they did a bad job casting Rory as the Hound to begin with because the Hound is in his 20s. I just love Rory and he does play the part very well, he's just not the right age lol they kind of backed themselves into a corner because of that. So, my brain wants an older mountain, but logically I do see him as a good fit for the mountain but age-wise it doesn't work and it's confusing to my brain. I'm going to have to restart my brain now.
@sirus8046 жыл бұрын
They didn't recast the first actor that played The Mountain because apparently he was very difficult to work with on set or he caused problems so they recast him with the actor in season two who also plays the giants in the show since he's 7ft tall. They needed someone big a ripped so they recast The Mountain again.
@djentleman376 жыл бұрын
Sandor obviously isn't, and was never supposed to be, in his 20's in the show - same like they changed a ton of other character ages for the show. And there's nothing wrong with that.
@felipeaquitral6 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is that Thor is actually the shortest actor to play The Mountain. For some reason they made him look way more menacing and big than Conan and Ian.
@iloveyourunclebob6 жыл бұрын
@@djentleman37 I never said there was anything wrong with that. I implied the issue is with my brain and not the show. Every Mountain has looked like his younger brother.

22:32 has always been funny ... "LOOK DOWN...LOOK DOWN....LOOK DOWN!" The music at the end is so wonderful...the music that was playing when Petr gave the "Chaos is a ladder" speech. And I always cry when Oberyn gives his speech.
@darth8564 жыл бұрын
If one did not hate Cersei before, then Oberyn's story would certainly do the trick. I know she was a child herself at the time, but it is still very messed up. Even Tyrion, who knew bloody well that his sister despises him, seemed upset to learn just how deep her hatred for him goes

somehow Baelish is one of my favs. #DontJudgeMe. Sansa really can't get a break, at this point she's a prized possession, I believe little finger when he said he only loved Kat. Also, he actually did cause the Theon situation,he caused the war,which led to Rob sending Theon to his old home and becoming so conflicted and turning into a jerk face. Which then left Robb to partner with Lord Bolton ( who double crossed him at the Red wedding and sent Ramsay to winterfell) So much of the game of Thrones plots are indeed linked to Baelish. Even Danny owes him. skipping over that he caused Ned to go to Kings landing which led to Roberts death and King Turd being named ruler of the seven kingdoms. If Geoff hadn't dismissed Selmy the scorpion that Robert sent would have killed her. He is a small man that casts a large shadow. Can you all not picture him looking over at everyone fighting below for the same ladder he is now climbing . Its my fav line "Chaos is a ladder".
