Brienne swearing fealty to Sansa was a touching callback to Brienne and Catelyn exchanging those same vows after Renly's death way back in Season 2. "You shall always have a place by my hearth, meat and mead at my table. And I pledge to ask no service of you that might bring you dishonor". The words are the same, but it's a sea of grief that separates the two moments. She is Lady Stark now. That little moment would not have meant much if it wasn't preceeded by the events of the previous season, if she had just taken up Brienne's offer the first time around.

The season 6 trailer with the tagline 'wicked games' opens at the Night's Watch with a solemn music playing and a grieving Mellisandre saying "The great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie." She had said she's seen Stannis fighting at Winterfell. She had said she's seen herself walking the battlements of Winterfell over the flayed man banners. She never said it was the same vision. Wicked games indeed.

Can you imagine watching S5 finale all those years ago with THAT ending and then having to wait a year, especially cos that's apparently where the books STOP. So everyone was losing it.

The only equivalent I can imagine is that which The Walking Dead did to me with the Season 6 finale. I was actually hurt by it and left feeling empty and affected for some time after I realized how long I'd be waiting for answers.

…and some of us enjoyed all of the seasons. For sure, they rushed the last season…but what they did show worked. They rushed the story telling so that things seemed to come out of nowhere. But some of us still enjoyed it, even so!

They rushed the last two seasons, actually. And regarding season 8, the execution is not great and so the ending feels anticlimactic
