I recently watched the first three series of Game of Thrones over the course of two weeks. I 'd been planning on going through everything before season five started. After this episode, I just felt exhausted. I finished season three and just stopped watching for a couple of weeks because I felt so emotionally drained. No work of fiction has ever impacted me that much before. Until then I merely liked Game of Thrones. After the Red Wedding I knew that this was going to be one of the all time greats of television.

When she came back she said "Now you know why I left." The funny thing was that I had put off watching Game of Thrones since it started and the internet spoiled most events like Ned Stark and Jon Snow's death and the "Hold the door!" scene. But no one ever talked about the red wedding. They merely mention the name "red wedding" and that's it. No one gave a single detail about it. Taylorwest626 the brilliance of the books are the fact that the characters are human. GRRM has said Dany's struggles in Mereen are meant to show how difficult ruling can be and to go against the stereotype that the good guy becomes the good king. He's not dead yet. I'll avoid spoilers for the non-readers among us, but I'll just say that I was disappointed Joffrey and Margery's wedding wasn't in the same season. (Yes, book 3 is huge and deserves more than 10 episodes since there's so much non-trivial stuff in it (trivial being defined as "can be edited out without entirely breaking the plot"), but still, it'd be nice to see a season end on a high note for a change. Well, it was wildly mortifying--I mean....the hell!? I was helplessly entranced, watching that scene. That's when I knew the series was hitting all the cords, because a story that doesn't frustrate or disgust you--in the sense it does because it's being ham handedly melodrammatic---but genuinely shocks you isn't a movie. It's a reality committed to film! That episode was brilliant because it was so merciless. It wrote a story and didn't spare its audience to do it. This is a show that respects the emotional resilience of its fans. All is not lost, though, friends. Spoilers: Arya said the words, the stark boys are fine and heading to where Jon is, and Sansa is with Tyrion, the safest person in King's Landng for the Starks: and the seven Gods never forget slaughtering guest under a host's roof. Filch is in for some thick shit come season four.

well,arya already shived the shit out of one of the Frey's. That was actually one of my favorite parts in that season; because despite her initial guile, when she lays into the back of that guy's neck she devolved into his clench-mouthed, spital-intensive rage. What she did was not the work of a practiced assassin, but that of a desperate and hopeless child. Someone trying to gain some sense of control over the world around her; some sense of moral function from the universe.
