Yeah, that's my main issue when talking about the show with people. On paper, the story is fine and I'm not really mad about anything. I just wish I could have actually watched said story play out on the television show Game of Thrones. Instead, D&D just used that time slot to tell us the ending. For example, Jamie had a 70+ hour story arc of change and redemption and then in 30 minutes decided he was actually a dick and then died. Dany had a 70+ hour story arc where although she had a propensity towards burning people she was doing it for good reasons, and then in 45 minutes she decided she was actually crazy and then died. If you take out the time stamps, both of those stories are tragic and concluded in a satisfying way. The execution was so rushed and beyond awful though, really leaves a bitter taste.

The only reason Dany and Viserys had a claim to press is because it was known that Rhaegar didnt have an heir. But he did which turned out to be Jon. The claim passes from father to their children but doesnt not go to branch family memeber(siblings/uncles/etc) unless the main line(Rhaegar) does not have a heir. So basically gender has nothing to do with it. Jon would even be ahead of Viserys if he as alive.

Secondly, if you think the Reach would accept a literal no last name as the new Lord of the Reach, appointed by an outsider with NO ties to the Reach even, you have something else coming. Even House Tyrell, who took over from House Gardener as the house paramount of the Reach after Targ invasion had murmurs following them for 300 years because many other houses felt themselves superior in blood and family ties to House Gardener to be the new house paramount. And Tyrion has no dragons to enforce Bronn's claim on Highgarden OR the entire Reach.

The war of the 5 kings was just one war in Westeros that took 3 seasons to resolve (including the last half of s1 and the first half of s4, which I think it fair since around half of both seasons were actually directly leading up to or resolving the war) .Having 3 seasons to deal with the biggest threat that has been foreshadowed since literally the first scene in GoT, a whole rebellion, and then a second one is a much quicker pacing. Hell even three seasons to cover the same shit as season 8 would be rushing the storyline for GoT with the same detail as the first 4-6 seasons. Instead we got essentially 9 episodes worth of content instead of 30+

There should have been a much bigger build up to it, and I think the Night King should have got away only to return on his own to King's Landing.

Syklone There was plenty wrong with the battle of Winterfell. There was NO logic in it at all. The meaningless Dothraki charge, which lead straight to their deaths. Almost their entire army were outside the walls of Winterfell, which got them slaughtered. No catapults inside Winterfell, instead they put them outside the walls, and no where near enough archers, therefore letting all the walkers run loose straight toward themselves. Poor defenses. And fighting at Winterfell wasn’t the smartest idea either. Winterfell is in an open area and the ground is leveled for both friend and foe making the odds about even. Not too mention they were easily surrounded. The best they could’ve done was flee Winterfell and head for Moat Cailin. Send there civilians, along with a small army for protection to the twins. Than have everyone else at Moat Cailin. They would’ve had the high ground, the terrain would’ve made the walkers slower since it’s all muddy and swampy. They would’ve had a far better chance at Moat Cailin than at Winterfell. But D&D decided to throw away all logic and let everyone get slaughtered. Trust me, there was *PLENTY* wrong with the Battle Of Winterfell.

Lion Of Judah You are correct, but given what they had, they held up pretty good. They had little to no men and probably 200 elves at their disposal. Whilst going against 10,000 Uruk Hai orcs. And up until they blew up the drain, they were putting up a good fight, potentially maybe even winning. But once the drain was blown up, the orc’s numbers were just too much to handle. And I think we both know the GOT protagonists obviously lost more than half, D&D just wanted to save their asses. I mean, c’mon, we saw their entire army outside the gates of Winterfell get massacred and even though some did retreat into the fortress, saying that they have more than half is a reach. I mean, where was that half when Winterfell was overrun with walkers? By the end of the episode, it seemed to me that mostly everyone was dead accept the characters that we know and just a little bit of what army they had.

I think that was always supposed to be the whole point. Westeros and everywhere else in GoT, most of the people were constantly worried about status and money and power, when there was an actual, serious fucking threat knocking on their door. And then when that threat is gone, what do they do? Immediately go back to trying to betray and kill each other over a fucking chair. I respect who they made king because of the fact that, yes Jon was the rightful heir, but the guy just stabbed the woman he loved in the fucking heart right after he helped her destroy the city and take the throne. To the people of Westeros that story is the same shit they’ve heard their whole lives. It’s like the writers didn’t even watch (let alone understand) the past seasons, this was the laziest writing in the history of television. Not because it was the worst period but because it went from the best to the worst. The Dragon Queen turning into the mad queen WTF? She not only freed the slaves, she resurrected dragons, she walked through fire completely unharmed, she is of royal lineage and virtually everything she’s done in previous seasons doesn’t make any sense with this season (that’s because it doesn’t, it’s just lazy writing). Bran is literally one of the worst choices, he is best suited to be an advisor, there are at least a dozen better choices. It’s crazy that so many celebs are saying you can’t have an opinion on the show because art isn’t a vote... While that is true, that doesn’t mean you can’t have an opinion because they had a show that was well written and made sense only to wrap it up with a final season that made no sense at all.

The point was to demonstrate that he didn't want it. He doesn't want this either but nobody else will accept it. Except.... we don't know that for sure either and *_that's_* the point. You are supposed to leave the show with uncertainty about the future. Did Bran _really_ not want to be king? Or is he just lying? Did he orchestrate events to make this happen? If he did why wouldn't he pretend to be the same person he always was. Wait - did he, on some level, do that? Like when he thanked Theon, was that genuine or...? I'm serious, that's obviously what it's about.

Sansa killed Ramsay by giving him to his starving dogs; Arya killed the Freys and made a pie of some of them and fed it to their father and then killed him; whoever is in Bran killed Bran; Jon killed a little boy (who killed him first, yeah) whose family was butchered in front of him. The only difference there is that Daenerys killed people who hurt other people, and the Starks mostly killed people who hurt them or their family.

Thrones merely rushed through the ending. Those two are so different it baffles my mind that humans with brains could compare the two. If this season was 10 episodes the same major plot points would all be the same. What Lost did was so damn different.
