The Lannisters would not be hated. Nor would they be bankrupt. They would lend to the crown under King Rheaghar, who might have had to marry Cersei at Tywin's insistence. Since the Tarygaryen's would have needed gold to pay the Iron Bank for the costs of the war. Lyanna would have been queen for a short time. Child birth would have still killed her. Jaime would have still killed Aerys that wouldn't have changed. But he would no longer be beholden the the Kings guard. He would have become Lord of Casterly Rock. Robert's many bastards wouldn't have been so many. No Joffrey, no Myrcella, no Tommen. But the offspring of a Cersei/Rheaghar union would still die fulfilling the Maggie the Frog prophecy. Stannis would have become Lord of Storm's End. Shireen would never have died. Dany's blood would still be magical since that is genetic. Jon would still have magic blood too. That won't change. He wouldn't have gone to the Night's watch. Rheaghar would have 4 sons? Those from Cersei would die--leaving him with only 2. Dorn would still be an enemy. Because we know through Oberyn that Rheaghar left Queen Elia for Lyanna because she could no longer give him children. She would become a negative influence on Dany. Rheaghar would eventually kill Cersei? He was very much into the Azor Ahai prophecy and wanted 3 sons. So he'd likely take another wife ---unless Viserys made a move to kill him? Viserys would go mad that would not change. His offspring with Dany would likely be mad --at least some of them. Bran wouldn't be crippled. Jon might marry Sansa to make peace with the North. What if? Its a very loaded question full of endless possibilities.

Couldn’t that possibly start a rebellion once Rhaegar dies and Jon(Aegon) takes the throne?
@Consectivess4 жыл бұрын

@Jason Turner Once Raegar divorced Elia, her kids lost every right to the Iron Throne so that still makes Jon the true heir.
@TheLoozerDonkey4 жыл бұрын
@Jason Turner Raegars and Lyannas wedding was kept a secret, and so was Elia's divorce since the only thing everybody knows is that he just cheated and left Elia with Lyanna, and the faith of the seven doesn't allow polygamy since the Targaryans were converted to this Faith since Baelor the blessed. In order for the son of a king to be a prince and therefore the true heir his mother also has to be queen and since Raegar(if he became King) divorced Elia, Elia is no longer queen and therefore Aegon has lost his claim. Now you are going to argue that Lyanna died before she became Queen but still in this case Jon has a better claim to the throne than Aegon even if he is older.

Just because Jon is fostered at Winterfell doesn't mean he'd take the Black.
@Lord_Clarke7 жыл бұрын
Martin Sanders it makes the idea more possible though I don't see away you could credibly convince me a Prince even one second in line would take the Black if he grew up in Kings Landing or Dragonstone, which is why maester Ameon is a old ass man and barely speaks about his past because it would be hard for GRRM to have to sit there and explain why he became a maester. Plus a large part of the reason Jon took the Black was because of his uncle Benjin
@MrMarti21877 жыл бұрын
Marco Clarke I think you have it backwards. Jon didn't join the NW because he grew up in Winterfell. He joined it because of *how* he grew up. If Rhaegar had acknowledged Jon as his son - even if only as a bastard - there is practically no chance that he'd have joined the Night's Watch. First things first. We already know Maester Aemon's past. Aemon was the 3rd son of the 4th son of the reigning king. At the time, there was virtually no chance that he'd have a shot at the throne. And the political wisdom at that time said that having too many heirs could be problematic if all of them started vying for power. So he was sent to be trained as a Maester. to get him out of the way. A series of events later, he did have a chance at taking the crown - because all the other options happened to be dead, unfit or females. But he stuck to his vows and gave up his shot in favor of his younger brother. And to avoid being used as a pawn in any political game, he willingly went to the Night's Watch - as far from KL as possible. Jon isn't in the same position. After Aerys, there are just a couple of possible heirs - Rhaegar, Viserys, Danaerys, Aegon, Rhaella and Jon. 6 is an appropriate number - not too many to cause trouble nor too less to risk succession. No reason to shuffle Jon off to some corner like the Citadel or the Night's Watch. The choice of Jon joining the NW was a culmination of many different factors. First, he often felt ostracized and isolated at Winterfell - primarily due to Catelyn constantly icing him out. He felt like he had no future if he stayed there and he had to make one of his own. Second, Catelyn was eager to get rid of him. With Ned headed to KL and the possibility of Cat's attitude getting worse, sending Jon off to NW made sense. And Ned was tired of making Cat put up with Jon. Third, Cat hated Jon because he was Ned's bastard, not just because he was a bastard. And fourth, growing up in the North means joining the Night's Watch seems like the most accessible option. But none of these factors would've existed if Jon had been acknowledged as Rhaegar and Lyanna's son. Even of he was a royal bastard instead of a second/third prince, he'd still be welcomed in Winterfell with open arms in memory of his late mother. He wouldn't be made to feel less or worthless or inadequate or unwanted. His future would be secure and there would be no reason for him to join the NW. However, there is chance that he'd be made to fell that way if he grew up in KL or Dragonstone. If, instead of a loving family from his mother's side, he is made to face his step-mother - Elia Martell - there is a good chance that she would've responded to him the same way Catelyn did. That might contribute to his motivation to find a place for himself elsewhere. But even then, the Night's Watch would be low on the list. Becoming a member of the Kingsguard or becoming a Maestar would both be considered better options.

Rhaegar was playing the long game, if you read the books there's even a vision Dany has where Rhaegar tells his wife he needs another kid, and his wife could not give birth again. His wife knew about Lyanna. Rhaegar sacrificed thousands of lives during the rebellion, in order to facilitate saving millions from the Others

One thing we know for certain-- Jon wouldn't have been named Aegon like his older half-brother. 😁 To be serious, Rhaegar was convinced that Lyanna would give birth to a baby girl whom he'd name Visenya, fitting the naming theme he had going by naming his kids after Aegon the conqueror and his sister-wives. Since Rhaegar already had a close relative named Viserys, I'm thinking Rhaegar would go for some other Valyrian boy's name, or maybe change Visenya into Visenyon.
@CorvoThan4 ай бұрын
personally i believe that Rhaegar would have named him Orys. Only this way the birth of a boy through Lyanna makes sense in regard of Rhaegars interpretation of the prophecy. Its possible that he would have even allowed Ned to raise him, as calling him a bastard at this point may have been impossible if he tried to negotiate with the north. But in no case would he allowed the Orys to his aegon to become one of the three heads of the dragon. Further i think he would have tried to get another daughter from Elia, since his previous plan had failed.

@willhelm947 жыл бұрын
TheBattProductions well, since we see Lyana die giving birth to John, we can safely assume that Tyrion's mother would still have died giving birth to Tyrion, so it should be reasonable to assume that Cersei still hates him. Other than that, yeah there's a lot to think about
@TheBattProductions7 жыл бұрын
Manyhobbiesman But I'd think that Tywin isn't dumb enough to blame a baby for killing his wife. I'd HOPE that's the case, but who knows. They say Joanna was the only person that controlled Tywin....he really loved that lady!

The only flaw I can think of is that Lyanna Stark would not be placed as Rhaegar's queen. He was already married to Elia Martel who already birthed a prince and a princess for Rhaegar
@TheBattProductions7 жыл бұрын
Lyanna definitely wouldn't have been Rhaegar's Queen since she would've died regardless at Tower of Joy. I agree.
@alessandromariotti22526 жыл бұрын
The question is more like the legitimacy of Jon Snow. I don't think Elia would have been like Catelyn, but Doran and the Martells wouldn't like Jon "usurping" Rhaenys as second in line after Aegon, especially because in Dorne they don't discriminate females from the line of succession.
@kieakewii6 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Mariotti That’s literally hypocritical of Dorne. They accept and love their bastards, and I’m sure they don’t care for titles if you can recall from the books. That’s why they didn’t bend and still didn’t bend to their original request to bend the knee. They are like hippies in the aspect of “live, love, be happy”.
@salamut22027 жыл бұрын
A couple of other things: Dorne and the North would be a little disenfranchised with the throne, now that Elia is now only one of two Queens (I get that Dorne is more socially progressive, but monogamous marriage has political significance) as well as all the events that lead to Lyanna becoming Rhagar's second Queen AND the death of their Lord Paramount and his heir. The River Lands would be in ruin and also not be too hot with the Crown either. They would have been in ruins as they were in the crossroads, as they often are in many Westerossi wars, and Tywin would have Tywined them which would have just exacerbated the situation. Their allies in the Eyre would have lost a lot in the war, as much of the Vale's forces were present at the Trident. The Ironborn, under Quellon Greyjoy, would have been a Loyalist and so his sons would have raided the Riverlands and the North. WHile the Crownlanders and the Westermen Tywined and fire&blood-ed the shores, the Ironborn would have reaped the trident instead of the Mander. They also would have attacked the Rills, the Stoney Shore, Bear Island and Sea Dragon Point while the Northeners' fighting force were in the South. Mace Tyrell isn't a fool but a hero and a successful general who tied up the Stormlands and eventually had to bow to the loyalists. Again, there would be no battle of the Mander so the Warden of the South would be sitting pretty. So Rhaegar would have the West, the South, the Stormlands, the Iron Islands and an annoyed Dorne. His efforts early in his reign would be mending relations with the Riverlands, the North and the Vale. Other politicky things that he would have to deal with would be an effective way to deal with his father. If he kills him, he's a kin slayer lest it's to bring him to justice - depends how he plays it - and if he imprisons him there is always the small chance that he's the usurper that could always be restored. Other thing within the Royal Family would include Daenarys being married off to Aegon to ensure a Targaryen branch with pure Valyrian features. Viserys could be married off to her or a Velaryon or Rogare or whatever for the same reason. If not, Rhaenys and Viserys can become political marriage pawns, probably Viserys to Cercei could be one to mend that relationship.
@TheBattProductions7 жыл бұрын
I'll try to address it here as you posted: 1) I don't think this plays a factor, since Lyanna would've still been at the Tower of Joy and died of childbirth. Rhaegar alive or dead shouldn't really change that, right? That would mean Rhaegar would still just have Elia, but a baby Jon Snow with him. 2) Eh, I think Rhaegar would try to rebuild that relationship, but yeah it'd be in ruins. 3) I agree that most of what he'd do early on is mending relationships. I think that's expected in all-out war though. Robert pardoned like a bossssss after he won. 4) I don't necessarily agree with Dany + Aegon, but I suppose it's possible.
@MrMarti21877 жыл бұрын
"I agree that most of what he'd do early on is mending relationships. I think that's expected in all-out war though. Robert pardoned like a bossssss after he won." 2 Problems: 1. Rhaegar is not in charge, Aerys is. And he's not big on pardoning. He's more of a "burn them all" kinda guy. 2. Pardoning is a smart political move for Robert because he has to legitimize his rebellion - he needs to prove that he isn't just another tyrant, that his right to kingship is earned and that he is going to be a just, merciful and good king. The exact opposite is true for the Targs. They already have the power and the right and now they need to show everyone the price of rebelling against them. Make an example out of the rebels so that no one else would dare try that again for a century.
@salamut22027 жыл бұрын
TheBattProductions Haha, you're right about Lyanna's death :P. However, it would still have the a similar effect on Dorne and th North. Especialy when an important witness of the kidnapping is dead... Robbert was in more of a position to pardon, Rhaegar is the Prince of Dragonstone, the King is still Aerys. Even after that, the Targaryens retain power. You're not winning over loyalists whose allegiances are effectively gone like Robert, the Rebels would still have cause to rebel to it will take more time. Remember what after the Rebellion Dorne effectivly closed its boarders and traded with the Free Cities instead - he North is all but capable of similar distancing. I can see Rhaegar addressing it unless like Robert but Rhaegar would be coming to them, it wouldn't be much of a pardon.
@TheBattProductions7 жыл бұрын
Martin Sanders In this scenario, Rhaegar would've removed Aerys (at least that's what my WHAT IF scenario was all about). I think Rhaegar is smart enough to not wipe out kingdoms. Maybe he installs new lords, sure. But I don't think him pardoning kingdoms when he may believe the Others are coming (potentially; remember Azor Ahai prophecy) is crazy. This isn't my hill to die on, but yeah I believe pardons will happen with Rhaegar after that rebellion.
@TheBattProductions7 жыл бұрын
salamut2202 Haha. It's all good. I mean hey maybe it would have a similar effect! Not sure. Like I said before, I see this scenario has Rhaegar takes the throne pretty much immediately after returning. Not sure even Aerys would burn it all down. He was a psycho, but mainly because he thought his death was imminent. If the rebellion was officially squashed, I don't think he'd be so hasty. And that's where I think Rhaegar has that convo with Ned to get everyone on board in order to get their pardons. If those sections of the country act up, I do unfortunately agree with you and think that Rhaegar will have to "wake the dragon"...SLAPPING WESTEROS INTO SUBMISSION! Muahahhaa. Haha. I think you miss an important part of this scenario at the very start, you assume that because Rhaegar sought Robert out because it was his last Chance to have any hope of salvaging a losing battle, While Rhaegar came into the battle with a slightly larger force, his army was mostly made up of untested men, while the Rebels were all Battle-hardened and had more troops on the way from up North, also they Freys but I won't count them, So when Rhaegar and Robert fought the Battle was already going very badly for Rhaegar, all of his Kingsguard were either dead or lying wounded on the ground in the case of Ser barristan, and between deaths and men fleeing he no longer had more men, so even if he Killed Robert it doesn't mean he would have won the Battle, do you think the Northmen who are avenging the Starks are going to stop fighing like rhaegars men did in canon, no, neither will Jon Arryn or the Vale, nor the Tully's, if anything the outcome of the Battle is the Same, all that changes is that either someone else kills Rhaegar or he is captured, and instead of Robert being on the Throne a Great Council of some sorts is held after the Sack of Kings landing, since Tywin had already decided to kill Aerys before the Battle

Actually, Dany most likely would have married Aegon. A pureblood Targaryen is the most suitable bride for the heir to the Iron Throne (from the Targaryen point of view), so she would have married Aegon (Rhaegar's eldest son). Rhaegar only married Elia Martell, cuz there wasn't a Targaryen bride for him when he came of age to marry.

I can't see Ned ever bending the knee to a Rhaegar after what happened to his Brother and Father. Regardless of which king did it, I see him fighting on as King in the North if it came to it. Without dragons Moat Cailan is quite impenetrable (though no navy etc means the North would finally be conquered). Also, Arthur Dayne was a Kingsguard and man of honour, I think it more likely he'd die defending against Rhaegar in a rebellion

Bob Blob The north still has 30000 or 20000 soldiers, they can withstand armies and the fortifications of their towns and castle from ironborn and white harbour navel fleets can defend the sea in the end they can survive a long term war with the south.
@kieakewii6 жыл бұрын
Bob Blob He would. You’re thinking as if you were Ned and what you would do. Ned literally took in Lyanna’s kid after everything and raised him as his own, and made sure Jon felt like her was Stark even when his wife wanted him out; and when his main character values were challenged after adopting Jon in. Also, it’s noted that Ned would do what’s right for the people and his family. There is no way Ned wouldn’t have consider it and thought about his family, Winterfell, and Lyanna.

I didn't miss that fact. Historically, Targaryens can and have married multiple people. So it is possible for him to be married to both. @OPiONShouter6 жыл бұрын
the ned bending the knee part is tricky: i tend to agree with you but i strongly believe the north, with or without benjen (probably without), would rebel against the starks like crazy at this point. so the one thing that would actually still happen, and would get a lot worse, is the bolton takeover, this time with most houses on their side. in the meantime, freys would also replace tullys and blackfish ends up all the same as a rebel. lord tully of course dies, then maybe all these incidents create an opportunity for the iron islands to attack all these places, so the balon rebellion still happens and it includes the theon captivity, this time by boltons only, which leads to the creation of reek a lot sooner. so the two northern kingdoms of westeros are actually at a worse condition.

@TheBattProductions - The mopey bastard would NOT have been a legit Targaryen, because Rhaegar and Lyanna were NOT married at the time of his conception, or birth. And Rhaegar could not have promised Ned anything like what you say, because he was already married to Elia of Dorne. Now, before someone says: "Targaryens had multiple wives!!" - the last Targaryen King to to get away with polygamy was also the first Targaryen King. Which means that even if Rhaegar HAD strongarmed a septon into performing the ceremony, the marriage would be considered invalid by everyone in the realm. Now, of course Rhaegar could CHOOSE to legitimize his bastard son with Lyanna, but not without MASSIVELY pissing off Dorne. And that's another thing: In order for Lyanna to become Queen, Elia has to die first. And Rhaegar would NOT have had Elia assassinated. He cared too much about his honor, AND he cared about Elia too! Which means that Ned Stark wouldn't have bent the knee to Rhaegar, because Rhaegar wouldn't have made promises he couldn't keep. What is likely to happen, is that Ned is either killed in battle, or captured and, by Lyanna pleading for her brother's life, and Rhaegar realizing that Ned was somewhat left without much choice, he's sent to the Wall, leaving Winterfell to Benjen Stark. Now, this is pure speculation, but: Could we, in a Targaryens victorious-scenario, see Tywin try to form a closer relationship with the North by giving Cersei's hand in marriage to Benjen? The eldest daughter of one of the great lords of Westers can't marry too far beneath her station, or it'l be a scandal for not just her but her house as well, and Benjen is suddenly the most eligible bachelor in Westeros. Tywin might not be able to get why Cersei is so against the best possible marriage he could make for her (while we of course know that it's because she'll almost literally be on the other side of the world from Jaime who's still a knight of the Kingsguard), but he'll probably present Cersei with the same choice he presented Tyrion with when the latter wanted to travel the Free Cities, and was shut down: Either do this my way, or you're no longer a part of this family. So Cersei would have went. If Cersei was still redeemable at this point, and Benjen could have moderated her, I do not know.

Nope. It just means they're lower-born so people look down on them, and they immediately go to the back of the line for inheritance. In this case, even if he was older than Aegon, he'd be behind him since he is a bastard. However, if Rhaegar had no other children, he's the new heir automatically. That's why you can argue Jon Snow should be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne right now on the show.

Ned would've declared the north independent, and pulled his armies back beyond the neck to kill all crown loyalists/consolidate his power until the throne recognized his independence or until the crown decides to send a big army into the neck, never to be seen again. Bed would not forget his father and brother's murder. Ever.

Actually I think Jon would have married Dany in this scenario ... destiny perhaps? I think it's way better than the Sansa shipping/theorycrafting. Don't bang your cousin, bang your aunt instead! Viserys & Cersei wouldn't be too far fetched, assuming Rhaegar settles the bad blood between Tywin and Aerys.

Perhaps indeed! I'm not quite sure. Sansa...bleh. I could see Viserys and Cersei as well since that's how it was going to go down before the Rebellion occurred, possibly.

TheBattProductions yeah, have you watched any Westworld yet? Might be worth adding to your review schedule. Im getting into it and hyped for the next episode which has just popped into my perfectly legal platform for watching US TV. :) Laters

Occam's Brut Nope. See I don't know much about it but from what I know, I can't imagine it fits in with my channel.

TheBattProductions Smokescreen reviews it. He's the only TV person I sub to that does. It's Sci-Fi mixed with Wild West. I had my reservation but eventually I wrapped the bacon of my mind around that concept of a sausage.

Haha. Hats off to him. I'm not sure I have the time to do that truthfully. I have a hard enough time attempting to do comic book videos (that's why I don't do them...I just don't have the time as much as I really really want to).

I think the tourney at H.H. was posed to be a secret set down w all the Lords and Heads of the Houses .. To discuss how to oust the Mad King . and when he showed up at the Tourney it threw a wrench in everyone's plans . Just my Opinion which means little. . lol
