It helps to make the lining a smidgen shorter to fit inside more neatly. I learned and tried that this summer with some lined zipper bags and was quite pleased with the results! ❤

Literally I’m sitting at my dining table practicing these bags. I’ve gotten much better! I personally find it easier for some reason to add the drawstring flap this way vs. sewing a channel into the main fabric which I’ve also done. But that probably a preference thing. I also am so new, I didn’t know what a “basting” stitch was. I believe I understand its purpose but do you remove it? Thank you again for your videos. I find them super fun and encouraging.

That’s great! Yes, if the basting stitch shows, you can remove it. Use the longest stitch length and that makes removing it easy. But I usually baste a little inside the seam allowance, so it doesn’t show and I don’t have to take it out 👍🏻
