Getting to forcibly shoot the antagonist in the head, complete with the explosion of their skull, would be a lot more satisfying than hanging them / shooting them from a distance / dropping them into a giant fire. At least in this game you can stab the antagonist through the underside of the jaw into his skull. Good way to get rid of a crappy character.

The fact that EVERYONE wears easily broken glass face shields while participating in space combat always infuriated me. No bulletproof multi layered glass with a layer of plastic in between so that it bends instead of breaking? Or how about making it out of graphene or even optically transparent titanium? They figured out how to violate physics and surpass the speed of light but they couldn't think of anything other then glass to make the visors out of?

I think it´s the best campaign of all the "Modern" CODs (Ghost, AW, BO3 and IW). But apart from that, I wouldn´t say it´s a brilliant campaign at all. As you guys said, it might be entertaining, but it´s full of innecesary moments and just a damn lot of plot holes.

And just like that, Nick being able to do whatever the hell he wanted regardless of rank & the countless heroic sacrifices made sense. Sort of. Anyhow, terrific video as always! Olympus mons main cannon is situated somewhat front-ish, so it's actually reasonable to engage it with full broadside fire 2. They have medical nanomachines (nanoshot in MP) in this game universe so, maybe it's just miracle-ly good enough to save him (I once thought it's gonna be another Black Ops 3 story xdd)

Until your leader is dead, and the soldiers that they were leading are left without orders and are killed because the enemy leader stayed back and is still alive. I’m pretty sure a leader is supposed to look at all aspects of a battle in order to coordinate his or her soldiers. Being on the front lines means that your leader is effectively blind to all other aspects of the war/battle. That’s why you have chain of command.

5:35 - 5:45 This is incredibly true. He isn't a member of the bridge, a tactician or even an engineer. He's the leader of a Fighter Pilot squadron. He would be more specialize in leading air/spacecraft, not commanding a flotilla. Unless the entire helm crew was killed, Reyes, rank or not, would not have been put in charge because he's in an entirely different sub-division. Also, he would tactically be more valuable remaining as the leader of a fighter pilot squadron since that's where his skill set is, not naval/intergalactic logistics or grand strategy. Even should the worst come to worst, the higher ups would do everything in their power to find a new captain as soon as possible. Reyes' time as captain would be very short and very minimal realistically. Even if he was promoted to permanent captain out of desperation, his actions during the rest of the game would either get him killed or court martialed, as well as get the superior who promoted him court martialed or at the very least dishonorably discharged.

All the other weaponry and the machinery and the airships are pretty cool let me just give you some word with advice there only three carriers 3 Super carriers that can actually with stand firepower that can pretty much destroy 18 it takes a full-on real gun to destroy the unss shapes or at least that cannon from the beginning with can destroy the Olympus Mons in about a couple short but it only takes one job with a cup of guns 8130 guns to destroy it or verify at least leave it very much damage disabled and with no weapons the superchargers getting is suitable to firepower but they all have the same inside and one that's destroying is on the atmosphere of I don't know which planet is get it's damaged but instead of returning to the shipyard in decide to repair while moving gets destroyed from the inside another one gets disabled and gets a prototype weapons stolen from them and another one get this gets destroyed so it's pretty much a lose-lose although the destroyed the entire fleet of the unsa they're pretty much defenseless they can just have a couple of jackals and still win the fight and get to the shipyards all they need is rich abusing and tigress that's it although from eBay we do find out that only 4 people survived the mission at the end will literally but I mean come on you know something wrong with your mood sorry when you can destroy an entire enemy fleet it but one of them makes it out alive that manages you managed to take it down your other ships get destroyed and will you mind they managed to destroy your entire shipyard leaving you defenseless with for survival left that's a lot of casualties considering the only 489 people on that mission

I really liked this campaign. If you actually do all the side missions, you can get quite a length out of it too. I played on Hardened, did everything and got 15 hours, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I always feel I have to add, I don’t play multiplayer in these games, so I know people hated it, but I’m only judging the campaign. It’s fun.

*Warning, slight rant about military tactics* So instead of going on a suicide mission with the Olympus Mons and losing your last two ships that are under your control for minimal gain, would it not be a better idea to use the OM to help clear out the remaining ships around Geneva, send in teams to clear the ship of any remaining SetDef crew, recrew the OM and Retribution with reserves from Earth, and then use them both to defend Earth and the moon while rebuilding the rest of the fleet? Add in the rest of the ground-based weapons and you can turtle up to blunt any other attempts at invasion. Combine this with surgical strikes on SetDef shipbuilding facilities and supply lines and you can start winning the war of attrition, given that Earth's infrastructure and agriculture are still functioning. Reyes is effectively a low rung on the ladder, so it salt. The correct move was to go by rank. Reyes is an LT, Boats or Gator would be more qualified. Fiction: SDF disregards the geneva and Hague conventions Reality: (Wall of text incoming) Where do i begin with this? The SDF is guilty of numerous human rights violations, which i will not list here. They invade and plant their flag on an allied system, sparking war. That's not the problem, the problem comes when Kotch catches up to the team. Maniacal as he is, he would still be bound by The Geneva Convention of 1949. The Convention requires that POW's "must at all times be treated humanely," also they must not be killed, seriously endangered, mutilated or subject to medical or scientific experiments. Furthermore, they must be protected against acts of violence or intimidation, and against "insults and public curiosity" (Article 13). Kotch defies this and shoots one of his men to "prove" his logic. If my CO shot one of my buddies, i am well within my rights to unload on him. Maybe it was fear, maybe it was blind loyalty, but that soldier's buddy must've been feeling something. Kotch spat on the rules and thus would IRL be tried and found guilty of Treason, killed and the Rest of the SDF would be hunted down and destroyed. The SDF are also using Chemical weapons as seen in one of the optional missions in game. Chemical weapons are strictly forbidden in wartime and the effects are well known. Reyes doesn't get off easy either. I know that the game tries to paint him as heroic, but he's really just a psycho. Soldiers will obey any order but if i was told to ram a massive ship into a shipyard with a 0% survival rate, i would mutiny. Reyes's one dimensional idea to risk the Olympus Mons on a suicide Mission would be shot down quick. The OM could be put to better use as a guard over earth. Salt even agrees with this, which IRL would see her Demoted quick. Her disciplinary review also has her remarking that she casually insulted a higher ranked officer. IRL, demoted to private, you're no longer SCAR 1-2. COD usually gets away with this stuff but the writers really need to be slapped with some international law books. disgraceful. Zombies is fun though.

Reyes serving as both a fighter pilot and infantry I was ok with. I'm fond of the old Star Wars X-Wing novels where the protagonists ended up doing this a lot. It was eventually revealed that Rogue Squadron, the protagonist unit of the first four books and book eight was deliberately picked to be a fighter unit that could serve as commandoes if the need arose while Wraith Squadron, the protagonist unit of books five through seven and eventually ten was selected as a Commando unit first that could serve as fighter pilots when needed (Basically the Rogues kept getting missions that pushed the commando side of their role far beyond what the unit commander had envisioned when he put the unit together so he decided going the other way around was a good idea for a new unit type). It was when Reyes became the commander of a carrier but was still serving as infantry I called BS. Unfortunately this game suffers from Mass Effectitis which was common in this era. Its a condition where a ship commander takes any excuse to leave the ship's command center to fight on foot that they can. the original Mass Effect trilogy suffered from this, and so did the first two Star Trek movies set in the Kelvinverse, and probably the Kelvinverse video game as well but I never finished it and last played it long enough ago I can't remember its events clearly.

Even though this review is old and I’ve watched it like 10 times, you’re the only person I know to question Reyes deploying with the Marines instead of being an active Captain. COD has never stayed away from changing perspectives, so having Reyes being the captain and fighter pilot, and then playing as another character with the Marines would’ve been much better. That being said I still enjoy the gameplay aspects of the campaign. The free form of choosing your missions, the customization, it’s honestly the last great campaign we had, and since it’s infinity ward, I hope Modern Warfare lives up to the past.

Yeah, it's cliched, but that doesn't take away from how great the gameplay of each mission is. The characters are great and really likable to where you get attached to them. The deaths may seem cliched in this video, but if you've actually played through it and gotten a chance to connect, then it really hits you. The ability to choose your own side missions or just desert them altogether. The Jackal gameplay is a lot of fun. A lot of the side missions, especially the carrier assault missions, were epic and amazing. Yes, the story is cliched with a colony and earth at war, but the gameplay is a lot better than you'd expect. I was hyped for it, and it still blew my expectations away.

Honestly, I think this campaign was fine for Call of Duty stories, and I think I would count it as one of my favorites. I hate everyone that just assumes it is bad and has never played it, and while some flaws are there, as covered by this video, it really is a worthwhile experience;and, I can honestly say I DID care about those characters dying. First Cod that's done that for me, so cudos. Now multiplayer.. well, I won't go there, or to zombies. I would kill myself before doing something like that again.

You forgot to mention this is kinda a rip off of the expanse, mars being a military authoritarian state who wants a war with earth, and earth being controlled entirely by the UN, and the lack of aliens. But they removed all the stuff that made the expanse really interesting. However I think the “only a mask on mars part” makes sense because it’s supposed to be partially terraformed. Where there’s a low pressure atmosphere, just not a lot of oxygen.

There are so many sins with this story it is mind boggling. 1st, and mind you this is coming from someone who has served on a carrier, there is no way he would get that classified brief before the Captains of those ships plus any number of officers between an admiral and a LT. 2nd, on a carrier theses a couple of people with the rank of Captain besides the actual Captain. Probably a good 50-75 people would need to be killed before an LT got command of a carrier. You missed the biggest sin though. The ENTIRE STORY HAPPENS IN 1 DAY. WTF. I mean it's assumed the first mission on Europa happens a day or two before the main story starts. The fleet review is happening I'd say in the afternoon. They want us to believe in the span on a day (because later in the story a statement is made that this has ben a long day) yo stopped an attack, ran all over the solar system, came back, and stopped the SDF in 1 DAY. The retribution was severely damaged, they didn't know if it was going to hold together, to the ship being repaired and fully operational in 1 day? BS

...He really doesn't. A lot of the games he's sinned are very complicated and plot-heavy. This guy isn't stupid. He can keep track of plot events and analyze them better than anyone I've ever seen. He makes mistakes, but he's not stupid. A Persona game wouldn't be too terribly difficult to sin either. There are a lot of gameplay problems with the first 3, and the villains are often either blatantly obvious Face-Heel Turns or borderline Asspulls. Even the 4th game has a plot hole or two, like the fact that you never had to fight Nanako's Shadow and she never got a Persona.
