Adding more proof to this theory (taken from one of the games itself): In pokemon black and white 2, there is an object called 'dna slicers' (literally the exact same name as in the video lol) which is obtained after beating the dragon gym, and when you get to a cut scene where you see the main pokemon of the series (kyurem) you can literally see the dna splicers in action when another pokemon (Zekrom or Reshiram) is literally fused together with kyurem to create the black/white version of the pokemon. Exactly as proposed in this video. I dont think anyone else has mentioned this but i think its pretty important lol. But yeah, grade's theory is basically 100% confirmed now.

This theory is pretty interesting but I feel like there's a HUGE flaw with it you overlooked. Typing. If Jigglypuff, and Oddish, combine to make Hoppip. Where does the flying type come from???? I mean, I guess you could make the arguement Jigglypuff is floaty, but the thing is, there's a big difference between floating, and actually flying. Poliwhirl and Pikachu fusing to make Marill is also a bit weird because, 1. Where does the Electric typing go? 2. Where did the Fairy type come from? (or Normal type in earlier games, but the point's still there.) Cyndaquil is especially strange, why is it a combination of SO many Pokémon, but only ends up being fire type? Let's also ask, why can some of them, at the very least, not learn moves of that type it lost in fusion, like say Kyurem and Zekrom/Reshiram still learning Fusion Flare/Fusion Bolt after fusion. I think it'd probably be more plausible if the fusions shared typings, and it's a great theory regardless, but the typings not adding up seems like a huge oversight.

I always saw it as "newly discovered" from the perspective of whoever holds the authority over Pokedex entries, which I think is Prof Oak. Adding to the viability part: There is a literal DNA splicer in the later generations that can be used to merge Kyurem with Reshiram or Zekrom to create Black Kyurem or White Kyurem
