My theory is that Doppels are just too durable. The amount of damage needed to capture one is so extreme that it kills a human. Hence the distinction

As for the whole killed vs captured thing, that could be chalked up to the process of capturing doppelgangers being fatal to humans. For example, maybe they flood the room with some gas that incapacitates doppelgangers, but poisons humans. That would also explain the need for the hazmat suits. Just a thought, but I'm probably overthinking it.

One issue with this theory, when a doppelganger reveals itself, it sometimes says 'go ahead call your D.D.D friends, they will never be able *to finish us off* in the end and we will achive our goal" this means that they are being killed, and the doppelganger talks as if they have a seperate goal which means that the doppels either dont want to replace everybody or the D.D.D dont want to replace evrybody. Edit: forgot to mention this, but the doppels also refer to the D.D.D as our friends, ehich is even more evidence that the D.D.D arent working alongside the doppels

Orrrrrr the DDD is the main organization of Doppels, but there are still a bunch of rogue ones that escaped the original military operation, that are maybe more scattered out and less aware of global Dopper machinations and don't know that the DDD is corrupted.

One thing that I've heard that kind of controdicts the statement of then killing the neighbors and capturing the doppelgangers, is that maybe whatever they use to capture the doppels (chemicals, gas, tools/weapons... idk) could be deadly to the neighbors but can only pacify the doppels. But it kind of falls apart if they want to keep the doppels as the only one alive

After reading that document... I think everyone you meet is a doppelganger. "Capacity to act under orders" is the key there. They want to train the doppelgangers to *both* infiltrate *and* develop self-control by performing tasks that require it (like getting paperwork, gettings IDs, going through rigid procedure). That helps with their little case of ODD. Of course, the dialogue of the doppelgangers might rule this out. And no, that photo does not mean that they're compromised. That alien could be captured.

Messing with number systems may be math, but it's mostly related to IT, where we use base2 (binary) system to encode numbers in bits and base8 and base16 to easier read and write those values. I would guess the difference between fates of neighbors and doppelgangers is just because their capture method is lethal to humans, but only stunning to doppelgangers. It is also kinda odd that a lead researcher is one of potential victims you can cause. I don't think DDD is working with the doppels, but they are definitely trying to use them for something.

Yes, even some American calendars start on Monday. He even acknowledges it just before or just after the timestamp, saying that the 9th is either a Monday or Tuesday. If the week begins on Sunday then the 9th is a Monday. If the week begins on Monday than the 9th is a Tuesday. You would need to start a row on Tuesday to make the 9th show up as Wednesday like it actually is supposed to be.
